TnT Show 02-15-2002

Friday 2-15-02

Todd and Tyler began their show this morning talking about a funky dream Tyler had last night. It was one of those work dreams so when he awoke, he felt as though he’d already done today’s show. In his dream, Kevin Pollak, Craig T. Nelson and Michelle Pfeiffer were in the studio and at one point Michelle Pfeiffer was riding Tyler and reciting the scary channeling line from the movie,” What Lies Beneath”, “I think she’s catching on to us…..your WIFE”. The guys spent a little time trying to analyze Tyler’s dream before moving on into a discussion about the physics behind the quad, a skating jump where one spins 4 times. The discussion was spawned after someone mentioned that they saw a physicist on TV last night trying to explain how one of the US skaters has the ability to do it. Basically, he said that the skater’s not a big fat guy and has skinny shoulders.

Trisha Meuret from Channel 7 joined TnT today and did the news and entertainment reports for the still sick Brian. She talked about a live shot she did on TV last night from the scene of that police shooting in South Omaha, bragging about how none of the other news stations arrived until after Channel 7 broke into programming last night to deliver the story. TnT also talked with Trish about 7’s coverage of the Hastings Penis situation and the guys succeeded in getting Trisha to use the word “hog” as a reference to a throckmorton. As you may recall, a supposed human penis was found in a car wash in Hastings the other day. Well, last night Channel 7 interviewed a guy named “Dick” about the story, got words from the boss policeman with a last name of “Boner” and all was done under a huge billboard asking whether or not you are an organ donor.

Later in the show, TnT asked Trisha about her Valentine’s Day. She told them that she was pissed at Rolondo because he didn’t even acknowledge the holiday. Rolondo actually called Trisha last night after she got home from work and said that he was in the area but when she attempted to coax him into coming to her home for a little Valentine’s Day nooky nooky, Rolondo turned her down. Trisha may be joining the guys again on Monday depending on whether or not Brian gets over his severe cases of Scrofula, Tetanus, and Apoplexy.

Big Pussy checked in early in today’s program from a Fantasy Food convenient store on Maple. He awarded a pair of Creed tickets to a listener named Al who approached him with a Todd and Tyler America Rocks bumper sticker attached to his forehead. Al spoke to TnT briefly and thanked them for the concert tickets.

This morning was the first Big Beefy Friday of 2002 on the TnT show. The Clarion on 72nd and Grover Street, this year’s designated meat provider for the Temptation of Travis, brought in some steaks for TnT to use as tools to break through Trav’s staunch Catholicism. At one point in the show, Travis’s face was mere inches from a big, juicy steak but our favorite sports guy just couldn’t bring himself to eat any meat. Trav did say, however, that he’s going to the Lone Star for a big steak tomorrow before attending the Kevin Pollak show at the Funny Bone.

TnT were joined in studio by their friend Rob Zatechka, former Husker and NY Giant. He hung out with TnT for a bit and took a phone call or two from old friends who heard him on the show, one of which eerily talked about hogs in the locker room. The massive giant also ingested about 7 of the Big Beefy Friday Clarion steaks during his visit. I’m sure we’ll hear from Rob again in the near future.

Kevin Pollak from the Funny Bone joined TnT just after 7am this morning and spent the remainder of the show hanging out with the guys. Todd and Tyler had lots of questions for him about his career and Kevin seemed happy to share his stories. They discussed his start in the entertainment business as a comic and then got into his movie Reviews target=blank>career, which includes “The Usual Suspects”, “A Few Good Men”, “3000 Miles to Graceland”, “Casino”, “Grumpy Old Men”, HBO’s “Project Green Light” (70% crap according to Kevin), and a plethora of other films. He took phone calls from Todd and Tyler’s audience throughout his visit, which led into some great stories about working with Bruce Willis, Jack Nicholson, Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon, Daryl Hannah, Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro, Don Rickles, and more.

TnT explained Big Beefy Friday to Kevin and from there, peppered throughout the remainder of his visit, Kevin piled on Attaboy Travis for his refusal to eat meat on Fridays. Travis, believe it or not, seemed to get the biggest kick out of Kevin’s razzing.

At one point in the show, TnT played an audio clip from Fox’s, “The Family Guy”, where one of the characters backhandedly remarks about liking Kevin’s work. Pollak seemed oh so amused by that and joked with TnT about having them get the creator of the show on the phone so he could rip him a new one. Later, upon hearing that the show had recently not been picked up for another season, Kevin expressed some pleasure.

Kevin Pollak’s visit with Todd and Tyler was excellent. I’m sure we’ll be hearing today’s show on a “Best Of” soon, not to mention on Sunday night’s 10pm 3rd Shift Replay of today’s program. You can actually see Kevin for yourself by calling the Funny Bone at 493-8036 and making reservations for either tonight or Saturday. He will be performing two shows Friday and three on Saturday. Call the Bone phone now and don’t miss seeing Kevin in Omaha.

Well, that’s the update for today. Tune in tomorrow morning for the “Best Of” and again on Sunday night at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show. Then make sure to rejoin Todd and Tyler at 5:30am on Monday for a new week of broadcast excellence! Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
