TnT Show 02-19-2002

Tuesday 2-19-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with a little dodge ball talk. The guys traveled to Nebraska City last night for another dodge ball game and found themselves facing a very boring team. The Nebraska City team’s strategy was not to play dodge ball at all, instead opting for a more “gym curling” style of play. TnT explained that their opponents wouldn’t throw the balls at the TnT All Stars but would roll them back forcing the TnT All Stars to throw them again, in essence, wearing them out. The guys said that their opponents approach was boring and made the games last too long. Instead of being able to get in the normal 7 games in the two 20 minute halves, only 4 games were completed. Although no exact win/loss number was reported, TnT did say that they lost overall due to the Nebraska City team’s gym curling antics. Todd took it upon himself to fix the rule violation of rolling, never throwing the ball by instituting a new rule requiring the ball to be thrown at the opposing team. This new rule should fix any further problems down the road.

Trisha Meuret from Channel 7 came in to do the news and entertainment reports for Brian again. After her reports were given, TnT got into a discussion with Trisha about being friends with men. Trisha, in a move unlike her previous man-ish philosophies on relationships, stated that she thought it would be better that a couple remains friends after a breakup because “at least you’ll get something out of it”, meaning a friend. Todd and Tyler were of the opinion that when a breakup occurs and a woman wants to “remain friends”, it’s a sign that the guy should turn the other way and run like hell. They explained to Trisha that men don’t want platonic relationships with women they have once slept with because it’s like the guy has been demoted. He used to have sex with her and now he can’t. Why not move on with your lives instead of dwelling on whether or not you will be able to weasel your way back into her pants again in the future? It was an interesting discussion that highlighted the different mentalities of men and women in the realm of breakups and relationships.

The guys phoned Tyler’s dad Ed today to wish him a happy birthday. It seemed like Ed had forgotten that today was his birthday until Tyler’s call although he could have been playing around. Due to the near arrival of their in studio divorce lawyer guests and after the birthday wish, the guys talked a bit about Ed’s divorce. After being away from his second wife for about 4 ½ years, Tyler was finally successful in getting Ed to file the paperwork to put a legal end to the relationship. Ed talked about the woman, an ultra “bitch” as described by Tyler, and said that she “bamboozled” him and after only about a year of marriage, she went nuts. Some of you long time listeners might remember when Ed drove to Omaha to be with Tyler and escape the wrath of the evil woman he had married. Well, he relayed a story today about how the woman put chicken livers on his bed while he was here hiding out, livers that were cleaned up before he returned by some of his good buddies once they caught wind of the vicious woman’s evil plot. Before they let Ed go, TnT filled him in on a couple of the whacked stories that have been in the news locally, as well as talking about some of the big national things going on like the bodies piled in that Georgia crematorium. Happy birthday Ed!

From the law firm of Cohen, Vacanti, Higgins and Shattuck, TnT were joined by Matthew Higgins and Kelly Shattuck. Both of the lawyers were great and didn’t confuse everyone with a bunch of legal jargon. They seemed quite at ease with TnT this morning, one of them even dropped a bleeped S-Bomb and said “ass” and “prick” on the air. It was great. The two took a plethora of phone calls from Todd and Tyler listeners who needed some legal advice. Some of the stories this morning were intricate messes involving legal battles between states, missing parents, back child support, interfering grandparents, marrying an already pregnant woman, bad home schooling parents, and “self described crank whore(s)”. Kelly and Matthew did their best do council the callers in the two or three minutes of each call but for the most part, nearly all of the callers need additional, more in depth legal counsel. You can get a hold of the fine gentleman from Cohen, Vacanti, Higgins and Shattuck by phoning their office at (402) 345-7600 or visiting them on the web at http://www.fathersrightslaw.com” target=blank>www.fathersrightslaw.com.

TnT announced the winner of yesterday’s Vegas trip tickets as Ken Pauli. They were unable to get a hold of him so instead, they reiterated the rules of the contest and went on to give today’s Classic Rock artist of the day.

Travis came in this morning and due to the discussions of divorce from the lawyers who were in studio, he talked a bit about his parents divorce. Somehow through the course of the conversation Tyler’s dad ended up nailing Travis’s mother in Vegas. You know the show folks. At any given moment and without any logical explanation, Tyler’s dad could end up nailing your mom too. After Travis recovered from the previously mentioned topic, he went on to read his “For What It’s Worth” editorial that was done on last night’s news. Basically, he is going to be taking local sports topics and editorializing on them during his 10pm newscast. Then the following morning he will redo the editorial on the Todd and Tyler show. He did last night’s that basically said that Creighton fans don’t support their team and that Lancer hockey coach Mike Hastings is one hell of a coach and deserves to be coaching at a collegiate level. TnT discussed the commentary for a bit and seemed to agree with most of what Travis had said, although they prompted him to be a little more cutting edge with his ideas on future topics for his piece.

To close up today’s show, TnT drafted their teams for this year’s broom ball game taking place on Saturday between the first and second period of the Lancers hockey game. The guys phoned a majority of the media people who will be participating to talk to them about the game. Only a few were unavailable to speak this morning but have already committed to playing so it was no big deal not to make contact with them this morning. The teams will break down as follows:
