Tuesday 4-2-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing their April Fools prank yesterday. They opened up their phone lines right away and took quite a few phone calls from listeners who wanted to talk about their trickery. Everyone seemed to enjoy the switch-up but also liked having TnT back on the air in the morning.

Brian came in to do the news early on. Afterward he finished, the guys talked a bit about how Brian attended a 9-hour seminar yesterday on lawn and turf care. They wondered exactly how boring such a seminar might be because in their eyes, there’s really not a lot to cutting someone’s grass. Brian told them a bit about the bullet-to-the-head details of yesterday’s get-together and that lead the guys into a discussion about a variety of boring meetings, seminars, and conventions they have dealt with in the past. Although the phone lines were open for listeners to share their own stories about the types of boring meetings they attended, TnT speculated they wouldn’t get many calls because, after all, no one likes having to go to a boring meeting let alone talk about it.

One of the news stories Brian read today was about how people aren’t getting as much sleep as needed. TnT agreed with the study and asked whether there is anyone anywhere who could say that they actually do get enough sleep. The guys discussed their unusual sleep patterns, due to having a morning radio show that requires them to awake at 4’n change each weekday, and then took countless phone calls from listeners who had sleep stories to share. Before taking calls though, Donnie told TnT about how he once slept for a day and a half when he was in college. TnT thought he must have been sick in order to sleep for such a long time but Donnie said he was just tired. Then, when the calls poured in, everyone’s story seemed to focus on trying to top Donnie’s longest snooze. Oddly, many of today’s callers had used some form of drugs or alcohol that caused their long slumbers and even more strangely, a majority of those calls involved people operating some form of heavy machinery. The topic and calls related to it continued at various times throughout the remainder of today’s show.

Friend of the show, Rozz came in studio today to tell the guys about a special summer time Harley raffle she has set up to benefit three charities. She is selling a total of 1300 raffle tickets for $100 each all summer long at various Z-92 events and there will be three drawings for three different Harleys. The drawing dates are on July 5^th, September 9^th and the final is going to be held on September 14^th. You can see the bikes and purchase your raffle tickets this Saturday at the World Of Wheels show down town so make sure to stop on out and see Rozz if you’re in the area. TnT spent a little time talking about an article written by Jim Minge from the Midland’s Business Journal. Minge’s article was about Travis and his move from 42 to 3. The article mentioned that Travis was thinking of leaving 42 and starting up his own video production company slightly before the Channel 3 situation presented itself to Attaboy. TnT were intrigued, having known nothing of Travis’s possible career switch, and talked with Travis about it for a bit.

With talk of Travis and other media people swimming in the air and with yesterday’s conclusion of the March Madmen Tournament that featured some media people, TnT spent some time discussing people on TV that they think hate them. As you may know, this year’s Madmen tournament featured people from a variety of TV stations in town, some occasionally presented to us in a slightly strange way (Kara Rovere lighting farts, the giant panda John Chapman looking like a water bed mattress eating a bunch of folks). TnT said that they didn’t know why they had started picking on Kara Rovere from Channel 7 but figured she probably hates them because of all of their fart lighting jokes. Well this morning, out of the blue, Kara phoned the guys. TnT explained to her the origins of the fart lighting stuff and Kara really seemed to get a kick out of the whole thing. She was actually very cool and played along quite well with TnT, to their surprise. Now that they know she doesn’t hate them, perhaps they will speak with Kara again in the future, leaving her anal flame throwing capabilities out of the conversation. Then again, we all hope not!

Towards the end of the show, Travis said something to Brian that seemed to piss him off enough to cause him to storm out of the studio. Travis wrapped up his sports and went into the office to apologize to Brian. When Brian later returned to the studio, he claimed that he was not mad at Travis for his comment and that he actually got up and left the studio because he was about to have some sort of coughing, sinus educed mucus fit. As a listener, I’m not sure whether to believe the timing of Brian’s departure and Travis’s comment had nothing to do with one another as Brian later claimed, but TnT seemed to think there was some inter-show fighting going on. Perhaps we’ll get further details tomorrow.

To wrap up the show, TnT talked briefly about an article from the paper in which a mother claimed her 16-month-old son had become afraid of his own penis. The guys thought it was a really strange thing for a mother to worry about and then talked about seeing their own father’s penises as a kid. Donnie thought it was a good idea to show his young son his junk because that way, his son will grow up thinking his dad’s got a huge hog. This topic will inevitably come up in conversation again so stay tuned for more “Showing your kids your throck with Donnie” in future broadcasts.
