TnT Show 04-17-2002

Wednesday 4-17-02

Todd and Tyler began their show today by talking about the storm last night. As with every year the local TV news stations have once again taken it upon themselves to ruin network programming with their annoying, intrusive weather graphics any time a cloud appears over Butler County. The guys discussed their annoyance and found it amusing that most of the local stations don’t bother to interrupt their own 10pm newscasts with the weather graphics, only the shows people actually tune in to watch each night. TnT mentioned that they both flipped around to compare the station’s graphics and found 42 to be the biggest offender (I, as a regular viewer of “24” on 42 agree wholeheartedly). From there, TnT spent some time talking about a variety of other topics including the upcoming NFL draft, where Crouch might go, and how it seems the Husker baseball team is detracting attention away from the football team when it comes to the World Herald’s sports page coverage.

Brian rejoined Todd and Tyler this morning after a weeklong absence. Even though he was sent away to an anger management resort, he still seemed to be the good old Brian we’ve all come to love, slow typist and all. He did the news and entertainment reports as well as providing TnT with some interesting knowledge of his testicles later in the program.

TnT fired up the Mexican Connection this morning and were instantly joined by Dr. Ed from his study in Tyler, TX. The system in which the engineers worked out to get Dr. Ed hooked up to the TnT show worked flawlessly, much to TnT’s surprise and delight, as you really couldn’t tell Dr. Ed wasn’t in the studio (with the exception of a tiny, nearly unnoticeable echo). Probably the most amazing part of the technology was the lack of any sort of delay whatsoever.

This morning’s visit was much like any other time that Dr. Ed has actually been in the studio. The guys took lots of phone calls from listeners with questions for the doctor on topics such as which would be easier to bite off, an erect or limp penis, the “backup testicle” theory (that’s why guys have two, ya know), passing out when you sneeze or pee, ice cream headaches and migraines, breast implants, and testicular cancer. Dr. Ed, since he is no longer working for the state, seemed much more relaxed in his choice of words today. That, or the fact that he had very little to no sleep before joining TnT this morning lead to such epic quotes from the Dr. Ed as, “Perky is overrated”, “Do not put a cat on your breasts”, and “…keeps ya from licking your junk”, among many others. Dr. Ed will rejoin TnT via the Mexican Connection in a few weeks so stay tuned.

Speaking of Dr. Ed’s visit, during the conversation on testicular cancer, Brian came in the studio and mentioned that he has a couple of lumps on his nads. Although not cancerous, he has to check them frequently in the shower to make sure those bears aren’t getting away from him down there. Donnie headed to the production room and created a hilarious sound effect of when Brian first discovered his ball bumps that day way back when in the shower. Basically, with the accompaniment of some water sounds, Donnie edited Night Ranger’s “Sister Christian” tune down to just the intro and first syllable of the song, which happens to be “Sis” (or for his purposes, (“Sist”). Throughout the show, the sound effect was played and laughs were had by all.

Trav came in to do the sports report today. Before doing so, he talked with TnT about the reaction he received from his “For What It’s Worth” that aired on Channel 3’s 10pm news on Monday and was repeated on TnT’s show yesterday. He played the voice mail Todd and Tyler left for him during yesterday’s show and discussed the Channel 3 anchor’s reactions to it. Before leaving, Travis told TnT that his wife is headed to Ireland in a few weeks. Further escalating the “Travis is a cheap ass” bit, Attaboy said his wife is going to drive to Chicago to catch a cheaper flight to Scotland, she then will drive or take a puddle jumper to Ireland and he also said his wife is only taking their youngest daughter with her on the trip because the baby flies free. As you can imagine, TnT had quite a bit of fun giving Travis a hard time about his cheapness.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning with a commentary on how he wishes Judge Wopner would take over the Middle East negotiations. He also asked Dr. Ed about some sort of penis fungus he has developed. It was rather creepy. Stay tuned to TnT for more from the Cable Guy.

TnT spoke with Creighton baseball coach Jack Daum this morning. The Blue Jays played the Husker baseball team last night and there was a little concern surrounding when the game was actually called off. Coach Daum felt it should have been called off sooner, due to wind, rain, and hail. Then the gang talked about how the Husker first base coach unprofessionally tossed an “In your face” to the Blue Jay’s pitcher. All in all, the coach sounded quite proud of his team and the way they handled all the events of last night and said he is looking forward to playing the Huskers again on May 15th at the Johnny. Keep in mind that Creighton is taking on Wichita State this weekend. Further details can be found at the Creighton’ web site, CSTV.com: NCAA Division 1 Teams.

TnT wrapped up their show today by discussing the Saturday release of “Hair Lip”. The guys are going to be at the Council Bluffs Quick Trip on Saturday from 11 to 1pm and then they are headed to the 132nd and Center Street Homers location. The first 50 people to approach TnT with their copy of “Hair Lip” at either location will receive a limited edition “Hair Lip” t-shirt (one per person). You will be able to get your “Hair Lip” CD beginning Saturday at any of the fine QTs and Homers locations across the metro.

Well, that’s it for the Wednesday version of the update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and make sure to rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow morning at 5:30am for another show. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
