| Administrator ![]() ![]() | TnT Show 04-25-2002 Thursday 4-25-02 Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about a couple of things in the news and reading over a few e-mails from their listeners. To their surprise, one of the e-mails was from Brians mom. She sort of thanked them for all of the publicity they have been giving her restaurant, the Glenwood Café, yet throughout the e-mail she kept referring to them and their show with various adjectives for dirty. Also very early in the show, TnT talked about a Nebraska State T-shirt they received from a listener. That listener, Mark called TnT to talk about how he owns the trademark for Nebraska State, and then went on to discuss the gold and navy blue shirts, colors TnT liked because they are completely opposite of the Huskers. Mark said that he is selling them via his e-mail address at mjensen@smallbusinesspoint.com. Although there is no Nebraska State, both Todd and Tyler seemed to like the idea of some sort of alternative to the Huskers and they wondered how Husker fans might react to an inter-state rivalry with Nebraska State. From there, things snowballed and throughout most of todays show, Nebraska State talk seemed to dominate conversation. Todd, Tyler, and Donnie all pondered various possible mascot names for the fictitious team and finally settled on the Goldenrods. Then they spent some time trying to decide which town would be the home base for Nebraska State. Im not sure if they officially settled on one in particular because at several points in todays show, the location changed depending on who was talking about it at that moment. The name of the stadium, though, was set in stone as John J. Throckmorton Stadium, nicknamed The Throck, which has a seating capacity of 68,650. It was determined by the guys that The Throck has had 178 consecutive sell-outs. The Nebraska State talk continued later in the program when TnT spoke to the Coach of the football team, Bob Onmyshaft. Later the athletic director, Dick Burn also checked in with further details of Nebraska State. When Travis came in, the guys designated him as the throat of the Nebraska State Goldenrods (as apposed to the voice) and he and Donnie worked up a sound clip of some play-by-play calls Travis has made for the Goldenrods over the years. It was pretty funny stuff. Later in the show, the guys took phone calls from listeners who attempted to play along with their Nebraska State Goldenrod fun but the quality of the phone calls were rather poor, I believe the phrase bringing the show to a grinding halt came up. In non Nebraska State Goldenrod news this morning, Todd and Tyler had a very cool interview with John Carroll, the Omaha man who was recently voted off of CBSs Survivor 4 show. Hes back in town now after doing a bunch of interviews and stuff since he was ejected from the island. The guys talked to him about some of those post-show interviews, including his visit to the David Letterman Show, which John said was pretty cool. Even though Letterman obviously doesnt like Survivor guests because they are crammed down his throat by the network, John believed Dave actually did have a good time with him as a guest. Continuing with the John Carroll interview, TnT discussed how hard it must have been to keep quiet while waiting for the time in which he could talk about the show. $5 million contracts seemed to have had an impact. They talked about some of the people who were on the island with John as well as some of the social dynamics of the game. The guys also asked John about being outted on the show and Johns comments about loving Nebraska following his exile. They asked him how he could love a state that, for the most part, basically hates homosexuals (remember 416?). His response was that he was born here, he loves it here and hes not going to let anyone push him out of his home, although he did say that if it werent for the fact that his family lives here, he would have nothing in Nebraska worth staying for and would probably move away. At one point in their interview with John, he laughingly said, you were evil to me when the guys brought up their previous conversations about him. TnT later figured out that he may have been referring to all of their pee on me talk from when Carroll got stung on the island by a sea urchin and had to get peed on to alleviate the pain. Anyway, John seemed to GET the TnT show and realized that of all the radio people in town, Todd and Tyler are probably the least homophobic. They abuse everyone equally. Before ending the conversation, John mentioned that Gabriel, one of the other guys on the show that was voted off before him, is going to be visiting him here in Omaha soon. Todd and Tyler invited the two Survivor cast-offs to come up to the studio for a visit and it sounded like John liked the idea. Maybe well here more from him again in the near future. Adam Ferrara from the Funny Bone came in this morning and spent a couple of hours hanging out with Todd and Tyler. When he arrived, he attempted to light up a cigarette in the studio but it sounded like TnT effectively shut him down before he did so because they would have ended up getting in trouble for it. Adam talked in great detail about his part on The Job with Dennis Leary as well as about being 40 blocks away from the World Trade Center on September 11th. He also shared a hilarious story about getting a hand zinger from an old Asian woman in a Swedish massage parlor when he started comedy years ago. The hand zinger was paid for by another comedian who, although not specifically mentioned by name, sounded suspiciously like a certain Tonight Show host when Adam imitated what he heard coming from the other room while he was getting twisted. Keep in mind that tonight is another Z-92 night at the Funny Bone. For $2 you can get Fat Freddy meat snacks thrown at you by Todd and Tyler as well as seeing Adam Ferrara, Tony Tone, and Sean Duck To The Nub Gnandt. Call 493-8036 for reservations. Towards the end of the show, Brian came in and did the entertainment news report which included yet another addition of the Nebraska Sex Offenders list. After concluding the list, TnT re-read the e-mail they received from Brians mom early in the show and explained his mom and how hot she is to Adam Ferrara. The guys then phoned her at home to talk about the e-mail. As they chatted, TnT pointed out that most of what Brians mom claimed to dislike about their show normally takes place during the news and entertainment reports of which her son Brian is actually responsible for. There wasnt much response, nor was there much response to when TnT mentioned that she backhandedly bashed them right along with all the compliments throughout her e-mail. Before wrapping up the conversation, as well as the show, TnT mentioned that they wanted to head over to Glenwood for lunch with Brians mom sometime soon. Im sure well hear all about it when that occurs so stay tuned for that story. Well, thats it for the Thursday update. Head on out to the Funny Bone tonight for Z-92 night. Its only $2 per person this evening for a whole night of comedy and meat snacks so it will be well worth your investment. Also tune in to the 3rd Shift Replay at 10pm and rejoin the guys bright and early tomorrow at 5:30am as they wrap up the week with their the Friday edition of the Todd and Tyler show. Thanks for watching. Good night. Corby-
