TnT Show 05-03-2002

Friday 5-3-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about the Buffet butt kissing that they think will be talking place all weekend on the local TV news. Related, they discussed the World Herald article this morning that seemed to attempt to pimp various things about Omaha for all of the out-of-town people visiting for the annual tongue-in-rich-guy’s-butt weekend. A majority of the highlights mentioned in the paper had to do with various buildings in town, some of which haven’t even been built yet like the new arena and UP building. They found that a bit humorous. From there, the guys played “Where’d you eat last night?” a game growing in popularity because Omaha has little to do except go out to dinner. Later during one of the guy’s many news related tangents, Tyler uttered the following phrase: “Who wouldn’t like to nail Ladybird Johnson?” There’s just no explanation for some things sometimes, ya know?

Also early on this morning the guys read an article from the Nebraska City newspaper that was forwarded to them by a listener. The author of the article heavily bashed on a variety of things that had to do with the Todd and Tyler show, most of which were the same tired complaints the guys have heard before. They discussed it for a while and then moved on.

Creighton Blue Jay baseball coach Jack Daum joined TnT in studio this morning and hung out for a while. They talked about a variety of baseball issues including weather, the upcoming College World Series, regionals and super regionals, recruiting against Southern schools, and the recent battle between the Blue Jays and the Huskers. Speaking of which, keep in mind that the Blue Jays and Huskers go head to head at the Johnny on May 15th. You can also catch Creighton playing against Indiana State this weekend with games tonight, two on Saturday beginning at noon, and one on Sunday at 1pm. It was good to hear from the coach again and I’m sure TnT will remain in contact as the season progresses.

The guys were scheduled to interview Troy Roberts from CBS’s “48 Hours” about an upcoming show on anti-wrinkle injections but Mr. Roberts blew them off. They seemed upset because they’ve never been blown off by anyone from “48 Hours” in the past and all of those interviews turned out well. The guys concluded that the women of “48 Hours”, whom they’ve had nearly all of their interviews with in the past, are cool but the guys aren’t.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning with a pretty funny commentary on former President Bill Clinton possibly getting a television talk show. Before ending his call, TnT asked Larry if he was able to reveal the big news he teased them with earlier in the week but Larry said he couldn’t until possibly Monday. With the mention of “Hollywood” and “the Blue Collar Tour” during that conversation, one might speculate a redneck version of the “Kings Of Comedy” movie is in the works. But what do I know? Tune in next week and maybe Larry will fill us all in.

Kevin Downey, Jr. from the Funny Bone came by and hung out with TnT for a few hours. He joined in on the topics of the day and seemed to be not only funny, but also very cool. During his visit he mentioned that he’s had a girlfriend for 5 years. In describing his relationship, it seems that Kevin “has hand”, yet his girlfriend still gives him crap about going to strip clubs when he’s out of town because she fears he’s getting Diekman after Diekman. At that point, TnT squeezed his girlfriend’s work phone number out of Kevin and phoned her in New York City. They wanted to tell her not to worry because when guys go to strip bars, about the closest they’ll get to a Diekman is an inked cartoon of one scribbled inside a dirty toilet stall. When she, Matilda, got on the phone, she talked with TnT about her relationship with Kevin, her job working for a Japanese Chemical company, and being cut from the recent “Roller Ball” movie she had a small roll in. Matilda was very cool and TnT seemed to enjoy talking to her enough that they told Kevin they were going to keep her number on hand and phone her back even when Kevin wasn’t in town. Make your reservations to see Kevin Downey, Jr. and Tony Lewellen at the Funny Bone this weekend. Call 493-8036.

Todd and Tyler’s comedian buddy Carl Banks phoned the show this morning. He’s going to be back at the Funny Bone on May 29th and will most likely join the guys in studio. During their conversation, TnT spoke to Carl about how hot the Olsen twins are getting (Carl worked with them in “Billboard Dad”), which lead Carl into giving a detailed description of his very oily nose. He also told TnT he’s engaged to a Seattle girl and they plan to get married some time in August. Yep, check the planetary alignment. The end of the world may be approaching; Carl Banks is engaged! As for his current projects, Carl talked with TnT about the “pilot season” Hollywood is in right now as the TV networks try to come up with new shows for the fall season. Before ending his call, Carl gave TnT some crap about being old, boring, white guys who, when he wants to go out and party, they have to go home and mow their lawns.

To wrap up their show today, Brian came in and did the entertainment report. Just before returning from commercial for Brian’s E-news, the guys heard one of the Power Ball commercials with Ray Charles in it. In the commercial he announces the current Power Ball jackpot, the dollar amount of which is edited in for that particular drawing. They thought there must be some audio of Ray Charles counting from 10 up to accommodate the bi-weekly changing Power Ball jackpots and somehow Donnie was able to find it. So, throughout the remainder of the entertainment news, Ray Charles checked in and counted up from 10. At one point, Tyler played both the Ray Charles counting audio and the 92-man Zorinsky circle jerk sound effect from yesterday. It was absolutely hilarious!

Well, that’s the Friday update. Tune in on Sunday at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of today’s show and make sure to rejoin TnT Monday at 5:30am as they begin a new week. Thanks for watching. Good night. –Corby-
