TnT Show 05-14-2002

Tuesday 5-14-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing a variety of topics. Some of those included how Nirvana fans are pissed at the smiley face pipe bomber tool because he’s giving people the impression Nirvana’s music has something to do with how he got to be so damned whacked in the head. From there, Todd discussed going to Borsheim’s in search of a ring for his new wife. Someone implied that Todd might be stretching himself a little thin financially due to a variety of things in his personal life (an ex-wife, 4 kids, a new wife, a new house, and so on) which prompted Donnie to approach the microphone and lay into Todd for not ‘’living within his means’’. It was rather humorous hearing Donnie dispense financial advice. From there, the guys discussed the price of the tickets for the upcoming Eagles concert. They all seemed to feel that the $350 price might hurt sales because a lot of everyday people wouldn’t have that kind of money to spend on a concert.

Brian came in and provided the news and entertainment reports today. As usual, Brian’s newscast was not your typical Peter Jennings deliver of accurate, relevant information. Today he opted to do a story about a man who was mauled to death by a killer cow, he followed it up with a story about a 9-year-old blind and deaf girl who fell to her death out of a 3rd story window after escaping the shackles that held her to a radiator. From there, he did a story on a sick freak that hung a puppy dog. Luckily, he brought things up and concluded his newscast with an uplifting story about a 43-year-old woman ‘’orally battering’’ a 14-year-old boy.

Todd and Tyler had their 3rd annual Burn Out contest this morning. They sent resident motor heads Slave Boy Chris and Bruce Patrick to the 60th and Ames Tires Plus store. Slightly after 7am, TnT began checking in with the two as handfuls of listeners attempted to squeal their tires in hopes of winning the competition and being awarded a set of 4 new tires by the fine folks at Tires Plus. Even though Chris and Bruce reported a large amount of rubber smoke throughout the competition, most of the participating vehicles didn’t seem to provide the kind of audio Todd and Tyler were hoping for. In fact, most of what was heard this morning was the roaring of engines, not squealing tires. Nonetheless, Todd and Tyler’s 3rd annual Burn Out contest drew to a close and a Pinto with a duel 9er 9ers won the new tires (or something close to that).

Officer Meg Fricke from the OPD and Officer Tom from the state patrol joined Todd and Tyler in studio this morning to discuss Police Memorial Week and Police Memorial Day, May 15th. The guys discussed the event being held at the downtown police station tomorrow, which Meg described as a chance for the public to meet police officers in a friendly, non-adversary way. The guys also talked with the two officers about a variety of other issues relating to the police and state patrol departments including the attitudes of people towards law enforcement post 9/11, how one gets chosen to do the homo patrol in area parks, and the increasing crank problem in Omaha and surrounding communities. Also during their visit, TnT found out that officer Tom was one of the guys who busted the infamous Fence Pooper several Birthday Bashes ago! For further information on the events described above, please visit State Troopers Association of Nebraska.

Travis came in to do the sports this morning. Before delving into his report, the guys spent some time talking with Trav about Husker, Creighton, and Royals baseball as well as the motivational speech he delivered to a Missouri Valley school yesterday. After doing his normal sports report, Trav read last night’s “For What It’s Worth” commentary that covered Aksarben, MECCA dropping the ball on a couple of issues related to the arena, and reasons for Terrell Taylor’s exodus from Creighton. If you would like to comment on Trav’s “For What It’s Worth”, give his voice mail a call at 402-593-2706 or e-mail him at travis@km3.com.

After Travis finished his reports, TnT played a haiku for him that was written by a listener and performed by Bruce Patrick. The haiku was about a variety of Travis-related things that one would have picked up on by listening to the show. It was downright hilarious and nearly, nearly was as good as my Scrotal hair haiku. 8^)

Brian came in and did the entertainment report towards the end of today’s show. Some of the things covered included a list of the top 50 TV shows of all time. TnT went through the list and found it rather hard to disagree with. The guys then moved on to talk about Star Wars freaks. According to some reports, the new Star Wars movie blows. TnT speculated that no Star Wars freak would admit to it sucking because if they would, it would turn their world inside out. Bruce Patrick then told them that if the film sucks when he sees it, he will indeed tell them it sucked and not search for some way of justifying it’s suckinesshoodidity. Wow, that was a lot of ‘’sucks’’. From there, Brian and the guys continued discussing the Eagles ticket prices, Brian read another snobby wedding announcement, and the guys wrapped up their show by playing Kelly Osborne’s cover of Madonna’s ‘’Pappa Don’t Preach.’’ To their own surprise, TnT didn’t think the song sucked all that bad, although the morphing of Kelly Osborne’s voice probably helped them not hate the tune so much.

Well, that’s it for the Tuesday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and rejoin TnT tomorrow at 5:30am as they kick off another Wednesday edition of their show. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
