TnT Show 05-21-2002

Tuesday 5-21-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing Memorial Day camping. There was an article from this morning’s paper about a guy who is already camped out at the Louisville park reserving his spot for Memorial Day. TnT both agreed that if the guy can spend a week camping just to get a good spot for the holiday weekend that he has no life. They also both seemed to agree that the point of camping is to get away from people. Spending Memorial Day camping next to countless campers and other tents ‘’sleeping on top of each other’’ defeats the purpose. Also early in the show, TnT mentioned the big summer kickoff party taking place at the Anchor Inn on Sunday. They read through the list of bands that will be performing and said that to them, summer officially begins with the annual big party at the Anchor.

Also early in the show, TnT continued their conversation about the teacher/Beef lineman who was busted for having sex with a 17-year-old student. After asking their listeners for help, they were e-mailed a link to a photo of the girl on the web, most likely from a Northwest high school web page of some sort. From their reaction to her photo, the guys seemed to understand why the teacher did what he did. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find the photo for myself and the guys are understandably unwilling to give out the web address of the minor’s photograph. Several times throughout the show, this story and discussion of it popped up here and there but the guys didn’t give it nearly the same amount of attention as they did during yesterday’s show.

As mentioned yesterday, the guys are going to be giving away a trip to see the Tyson Vs. Lewis fight in Memphis taking place on June 8th. The trip includes air and hotel as well as tickets to the fight. To award the trip, TnT have decided to do another ‘’What Would You Do’’ contest. They received a few e-mails from possible contestants and read them over the air. Afterwards, they took a few phone calls from others who told TnT what they would do for the tickets. Some of the ideas so far include a guy who will let the guys blast him in the chest with a staple gun, one guy would let someone pop him in the face three times, another caller suggested that he would let Todd and Tyler pee on him, and yet another listener said he would wrap his legs in duct tape and then pull it off. By far the strangest possible contestant so far was a listener who said he would attach and dangle 10 vice grip pliers to his sack. Because the audio for that particular contestant would most likely only consist of screams, Todd mentioned the guy could fill some water glasses to various levels and knock the glasses with the swinging scrotum pliers in an attempt to play a song. Keep your suggestions coming! The contest will take place a week from this Friday.

Travis came in for the sports report this morning. When he arrived, TnT spent some time talking to him about last night’s ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ on Channel 3’s 10pm news. The topics of last night’s report included how the Royals organization screwed up by not moving Bucky Dent to the big leagues, the people of Omaha don’t attend the Royals games enough, and how they don’t have enough concession stands open. He also ranted a bit about how the state track meet has outgrown it’s current facilities. If you’d like to comment on Travis’s report, you can phone him at 402-593-2706 or e-mail him at travis@km3.com.

While we’re on the sports line, Todd and Tyler spoke to Creighton Blue Jay baseball coach Dana Altman this morning. He’s in Wichita for a conference tournament and will be taking on Indiana State tomorrow at 3pm. TnT discussed the tournament as well as what the team needs to do to make it to the CWS. I’m sure we’ll hear more from coach Daum as the season progresses.

Roz and Steve from the Fish Heads came by the station today to hang out with the guys. They spent some time talking to TnT about the big Harley raffle that has been mentioned on the show in the past. They are giving away 3 Harleys this summer; the first drawing is to be held on July 5th. Tomorrow night there is going to be a live broadcast at Buffalo Joes with Jessica Dol and you can catch all 3 bikes out at the Anchor for the summer kickoff party. Tickets for the raffle are $100 each and there is going to be a limit of 1300 tickets sold so your chances are pretty good. Stay tuned for further details or stop by any Eddy’s Conoco, American Dream, the Anchor Inn, or countless other places to purchase your tickets.

Brian came in with an E-news report this morning. Before the guys got into it, somehow they ended up spending 10 minutes discussing the huge hog attached to a guy in an issue of Penthouse magazine they had laying around their office. After Tyler brought up the photos of the huge penis, Donnie retrieved the magazine and stuck the photos right in Brian’s homophobic face. From there, the 10-minute conversation evolved. Following the big throck talk, Brian eventually did the entertainment report and wrapped it up with another cheerful installment of the Nebraska Sex Offender list.

To close the show, TnT had a very cool interview with Brett Michaels of the band Poison. The guys talked about their last visit to Omaha and how the concert had to be cancelled because Bobby busted his back. They discussed his recovery, moved on to talk about Brett’s ’94 car accident and then got into a discussion about Poison’s “Hollywierd” tour and album, which hits stores today. Brett said that they’ve got a great stage show all ready to go for this tour and they’re bringing Cinderella out with them again. After TnT told him of the trouble between David Lee Roth and Quiet Riot at last year’s Z Bash, Brett told a detailed story about how he doesn’t dig the guys from Warrant that much because one of them got an attitude at a show and booted Brett’s family off of a sound station. Before ending his time with TnT, Donnie and Todd indeed were able to get in a couple of ‘’Tyler’s sister’’ jokes to everyone’s delight. Keep in mind that Poison is coming back to town to perform at the Nebraska State Fair in Lincoln on August 30th. Tickets for the event go on sale next Tuesday. TnT will probably speak with Brett Michaels again before the show so stay tuned.

Well, that’s it for the Tuesday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow morning at 5:30am for the Wednesday show. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
