| Wookin Pa Nub ![]() ![]() | TnT show 05-30-2002 Thursday 5-30-02 Todd and Tyler began their show this morning by mentioning that there is a photo of the new Husker jerseys in todays paper. They said that they like the look of the new look and are glad that the University is sticking to just two colors. Looking ahead to the teams status for the upcoming season, TnT wondered how long its going to take for blinded Husker fans to blame any losses that may occur this season on the new uniforms. From there, the guys mentioned a recently released UNO study about police officers asking female drivers for Diekmans and letting them out of tickets. The guys got a phone call from a police officer that said that as long as hes been on the force, hes never heard of or seen anything like that. He did say, however, that he has been offered Diekmans by females trying to get out of tickets and had to inform them that by even offering such a thing, they were breaking the law. Also early in the show, the guys then reintroduced a discussion they had very late in yesterdays show about an article from a St. Louis newspaper. The article was about Eric Crouch and although it didnt mention TnT by name, the author said that the guys were bashing Eric for his charity song, Under the 10th Street Bridge, among other things. TnT disputed that they were bashing on Crouch for doing something for charity, stating that they were having a little fun at Crouchs expense because the song is absolutely terrible. The guys then spent some time reading a few message board posts from a Husker fan web site. For the most part, it seemed to have an equal amount of TnT bashing and TnT support. Roger and Doug from MECA stopped by the studio this morning and spent some time discussing the new arena and convention center with Todd and Tyler. The two went into great detail on a variety of issues including the construction progress, the scheduled finish date of September 2003, some of the events may be coming to town, the size of the arena and how it relates to various sports events and concerts, and they also talked about the naming rights issue. They then took phone calls form the TnT listening audience about many arena/convention center subjects. This weekend they are having a bunch of hard hat tours to the construction site. It is free to the public and there will be shuttle buses leaving from the small park in front of the downtown library. There is going to be free parking in two of the citys parking garages in that area too so if you would like to go on the tour, you now have the information. By the way, if you would like to send a resume in, mail it to Roger Dickson at 222 S 15th Street Suite #280 North, Omaha NE 68102. Travis came in and did sports this morning. Before he began, TnT re-read some pieces of the St. Louis newspaper article that bashed them for giving Crouch a hard time as well as touching on a few of the hate posts from the Husker fan web site they read earlier in the show. Travis stuck up for TnT and then moved on to his sports report. Kathleen Dunbar from the Funny Bone came in and spent some time with Todd and Tyler this morning. She joined in on the topics of the day and filled TnT in on her recent move to Las Vegas. She also claimed to want to nail Sean Gnandt so TnT called Sean at the Comedy Condo to ask him about it. Sean didnt have a lot to say in regards to Kathleens sexual desire for him, but he did talk with TnT about some midget jokes he recently tried out that bombed completely. After hearing the jokes, its understandable why they didnt go over well. You can catch Kathleen all weekend long at the Funny Bone along with Carl Banks, who will be joining TnT in studio tomorrow. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations. A while ago, Brian did a news story about a 75-year-old man who got an 11-year-old girl pregnant after they met through an Adopt-A-Grandparent program. As you may recall, TnT phoned the old folks home and Donnie pretended to be the old man. For a while, it seemed like Donnie fooled the receptionist into actually believing he was the old man from the story but eventually she caught on and hung up on them. It was hilarious. TnT replayed that phone call today to refresh everyones mind on the story because in Brians e-news, he had a follow-up to tell us about. The young girl, age 10 when she was impregnated by the creep, just had her baby. There werent any additional details so TnT spent some time wondering who is taking care of the baby and the 11-year-old girl it sprang from. TnT spoke to Johnny Lang this morning. At the beginning of the call, the 21-year-old guitar prodigy told TnT he had recently moved to LA and had gotten married. They both gave him a hard time for getting married so young, especially considering hes a rock star and could swim in the sea of groupie pie. The guys then discussed his beginnings in rock-n-roll. Johnny said he picked up the guitar at age 13 and initially sucked at it. Eventually he got better, was discovered in Fargo, and now hes opening up for acts like Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones. Johnny seemed pretty cool and Tyler did quite well surviving through the plethora of North Dakota talk that occurred between Johnny and Todd. Lang is coming to town to perform at the Anchor Inn tomorrow night so make sure to get out and see the show. Thats it for the Thursday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and make sure to rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow at 5:30am as they wrap up yet another stellar week of programming. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby- |
