TnT show 06-03-2002

Monday 6-3-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing some of the things they did over the weekend. They both attended the Royals game and hung out on the Coors party deck. Diane the paralyzed lesbian who was supposed to join them to throw out the first pitch didn’t make it to the event so the guys had Mat Wallace’s boys do it instead. The guys also mentioned that they heard the worst heckle of all time while at the game. Someone who obviously doesn’t know baseball yelled to one of the outfielders, #23, ‘’Hey 23, where’s 24?’’ With the exception of the terrible singer who butchered the National Anthem, TnT had a great time and really seemed to enjoy the evening. TnT then went on to talk about a few other things they did this weekend, Todd joking that he spent his days off enjoying the diary on Crouch’s web site. From there, Brian came in with the news and the guys spent some time discussing a variety of the stories reported on.

After the news, TnT got into a discussion about marriage proposals. Over the weekend they hung out with the recently engaged comedian Carl Banks. Carl told Tyler about how he proposed, on the couch in a Hooters shirt. Although not exactly the most ideal proposal, it got the job done. Carl’s story led Tyler to tell about how he proposed to Becky, also not the most ideal way. He did it in his father’s kitchen back East just before Christmas a few years ago. Donnie then came in and reminded everyone of his on-stage Z-Bash proposal to Caller 9. Brian told the guys that he threw his engagement ring at his crying girlfriend when he proposed to his now-wife and then Todd talked about how he and Christy really never got engaged. They just got married on a whim in Vegas, mostly for love, partly for insurance.

The guys then spent a little time discussing baby showers because of James the Giant Peach’s wife’s shower that took place over the weekend. They talked a bit about the strange baby shower rituals and wondered what other secrets women have when attending ‘’Lady’s Only’’ events that they never reveal to their guys. Todd and Tyler then opened up the phone lines on the strange, secret baby shower ritual topic as well as the less than ideal marriage proposal topic.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and delivered a commentary on how good the movie ‘’Rocky’’ was. He also told TnT that the Blue Collar Tour movie will be filmed in Phoenix in the near future and is going to be scheduled for a theatrical release towards the end of this year. Stay tuned for more from Larry as the week progresses.

Travis came in to do the sports this morning. He’s a single man for a little while because his wife is visiting Scotland and his kids are off to the grandparents. So it’s just Attaboy and his puppy dog for a while. Before beginning his official sports report, he and Todd and Tyler had a lengthy discussion about the Husker baseball team and their chances of coming to Omaha for this year’s College World Series. After they concluded that discussion, Travis read his sports report and mentioned a few topics he’s considering for tonights ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ on KM3’s 10pm newscast. Although he wouldn’t give many details, Travis said he might do a little baseball talk, rehash some old FWIW topics, and he could also touch on MECA. Keep in mind that Travis will re-read his ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ on tomorrow’s Todd and Tyler show just in case you miss it tonight on TV.

TnT spoke to Creighton Blue Jay coach Jack Daum this morning. They talked a bit of Conference baseball as the season is wrapping up, touched on some of the players Creighton expects to have back next year, discussed the Huskers and their chances at making it to the CWS, and covered some of the other teams who are on the road to Omaha. When the CWS starts up, Jack is going to be the official spokesperson for TnT so we’ll be getting all the details straight from someone in the know.

After Travis’s sports, TnT reintroduced the bad proposal topic from earlier in the show. Originally, they didn’t get many stories about the strange, secret baby shower rituals so they pretty much scrapped that idea completely to focus on the more interesting bad proposal stories. They opened up the phone lines and took quite a few calls from listeners. There was a mix of good stories and proposal stories gone wrong in the beginning but after a while, the bad proposal stories seemed to take over and man, there were some good ones. During those calls, TnT spent some time discussing the phenomenon of men asking their girlfriend’s father’s permission to marry their daughters. Neither TnT seemed to get the concept and asked many of their male callers, ‘’Did you ask her dad for permission to sleep with her?’’ Most men did not, which seemed to prove Todd and Tyler’s point quite nicely.

To wrap up today’s show, Brian came in with the entertainment report. During that report TnT spent a little time discussing their upcoming celebrity boxing match. Slave Boy Jeremy came in studio and said that he’s quit smoking and has been doing pushups so he will be in shape to thump Black Tony. Donnie and Brian also got into it a bit today when discussing their upcoming match. Everyone seemed to agree that Donnie is taking the fight too seriously, as he is carrying around hand-held weights now and shadow boxing during commercial breaks. Brian is convinced that he’ll be able to level Donnie. Jose from the Spanish speaking station seemed to agree. He stopped in today and offered Brian a little advice on beating Donnie, as Jose and Donnie fought a while ago and Jose flattened the neck. Jose’s advice for Brian? ‘’Just hit him. He’ll go down.’’

Well, that’s it for the update today. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and then rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow morning at 5:30am for the Tuesday program. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
