Wednesday 6-19-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about a few things from the World Herald. There was an article pointing out that it is against the law to consume alcohol in the parking lot of the CWS games, a big ‘’Duh’’ from TnT, but the paper made it seem like alcohol consumption was a huge deal this year. TnT mentioned that it’s been going on forever and as long as people aren’t getting too out of hand, the authorities seem to let it go on because drinking goes along with the party atmosphere of the CWS. To them, it seemed that the newspaper was trying to create a story where there really isn’t one.

Also from the paper, TnT discussed Shatel’s article stating that he thought the Van Horn story was stealing the thunder of the CWS. TnT disagreed and said that Van Horn taking the job in Arkansas isn’t really a big deal. He’s just a guy changing jobs and that’s not nearly as big a story as the happenings at the College World Series. They went on to talk about how Husker fans shouldn’t be rooting for Texas just because they’re a Big 12 team and pointed out to Shatel that he was wrong when mentioning that the Big 12 is 2-0 in this year’s Series. Because of the Huskers, the Big 12 is actually 2-2.

Todd and Tyler’s hottest former news chick, Lisa Volonec (Emjay, you’re a hottie too, don’t throw a stapler at me) came by the studio today and spent the morning hanging out with TnT. She’s in town for the CWS, hanging out with friends. She played a little catch-up with the guys but most of that seemed to take place off the air. She was already caught up with most of the things going on with the TnT show because she reads these updates. (*Thanks for visiting Lisa!*)

Anyway, Lisa joined in on the topics of the day and when asked what she thought about the upcoming football season, she sounded a bit nervous. Todd and Tyler said that they plan to have a great deal of fun at Lisa’s expense this season because as we are all aware, the Husker football program isn’t looking that good.

Later in the show, TnT phoned Lisa’s mom Carol Ann. She said she’s also nervous about the upcoming Husker season. She then complained a little bit about how her daughters only come back to town for sporting events, never just to see their mother for lunch and shopping. When asked about her feelings on Lisa’s old boyfriends, Carol Ann said she’d never liked any of them. It was pretty funny. We can expect lots more from Carol Ann in the near future because Lisa gave her direct line number to Todd. Barring any fat-finger misdials from everyone’s favorite guy named Todd, she’ll probably be getting many phone calls from TnT this fall.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary based on several of Larry’s observations from the news. There’s not a lot more to say about this so I’ll move on.

TnT spoke to Bob Reno from Bob Reno's BadJocks.com - Where COPS meets SPORTSCENTER (includes links to drunk driving lawyers) today. The guys talked about a variety of stories from the world of Sports including the pro wrestler who beat up his wife possibly being a publicity stunt, a girl who sued her high school 20 years after she claimed she got pregnant by a coach and was made to have an abortion, and the Mad Mexican soccer fans who were attacking Americans after the World Cup match. The guys also talked about the golf course hookers in California. Later in the show, TnT got a call from someone who lives in that part of CA. She said she has a relative in town that phoned her and told her to call the TnT show. She shared some further insight to the story with TnT.

Travis came in to do sports today. Before he arrived, Todd had mentioned that he heard Travis was not staying in the RV down at the CWS. When Trav arrived, he was on the attack. He started ripping into Todd telling him that he was disappointed that Todd would even question whether KM-Trav was staying in the RV. Attaboy went even further by saying that Todd is living ‘’a Hollywood lifestyle’’ and has Donnie do everything for him. It was a really weird exchange that came out of the blue. Todd didn’t seem to take Travis’s vicious attack too personally, joking it off and continuing with the show, but wow. It was quite obvious that he touched a nerve with Travis, which caused his unnecessary verbal assault on Todd.

The guys spent some replaying the audio clips of their Z Bash announcements that took place on Monday’s show. They were as funny today as they were on Monday. As TnT played the clips, they said that they couldn’t believe they had spent 45-minutes singing their asses off as they announced each of this year’s performers.

When the guys were discussing public sex acts on yesterday’s show, they received a call from a guy to told them about being inserted in his girlfriend while she sat on his lap on a porch when some friends came out to say they were leaving the party. It was a great call but it spawned a hate voice mail from a stuffy old lady who thought it was inappropriate. She phoned PD Bruce Patrick to complain and he forwarded the call to TnT. They played the hate voice mail this morning and really got a kick out of it. To begin with, the lady sounded exactly like the ‘’beating off and jacking off and getting your hands dirty’’ hate caller from a while ago. Secondly, she used a couple of other great phrases in this new hate call, ‘’he was inserting himself’’ and ‘’he had nailed this chick.’’ Through the magic of editing, Donnie pieced together a couple new lines using the woman’s call. One of which was, ‘’I will nail the man who inserted himself.’’ I’m sure we’ll hear it again in the near future so stay tuned.

Towards the end of the show, Brian came in with the entertainment report. During the report he made yet another personal announcement. This one, unlike the incorporation of Huston Lawns, rocked the show. Brian announced that he and his wife have been slit up for about two months and there doesn’t look like much chance for a reconciliation in their marriage. He’s moved out and purchased a house in Bennington. He claimed 50% of the responsibility for the breakup and sounded very emotional when making the announcement. It was obviously difficult for him.

Todd and Tyler were unaware of the breakup before today and sort of seemed bummed that Brian didn’t tell them but also seemed to understand the difficult time he’s going through so they cut him some slack. Brian said that Donnie has known for a while and has been giving support and advice. Brian went on to say that he’s not looking to snake right away, still quite torn about the breakup.

TnT lightened the mood rather quickly, realizing that Brian was in some pretty deep pain. Lisa Volonec also assisted by saying that she would be willing to sleep with Brian to make him feel better. He didn’t seem willing to take her up on the offer yet, but a handful of callers who checked in to give their support to Brian told him that he should nail Volonec for all of mankind! It was hilarious. I’m sure we’ll here a bit more about this in the near future, as we did when Donnie and Todd went through the same thing. But unlike those two, Brian and his wife don’t have any children so we won’t be hearing Brian bitch about any child support on paydays. Stay tuned as the story progresses.
