TnT Show 07-17-2002

Wednesday 7-17-02

Todd and Tyler began their show this morning by talking about a few of the things they had on their plates for today’s program. The guys were scheduled to speak with Lou Graham of Foreigner later in the show, which prompted Tyler to recount a story about a Foreigner concert he attended years ago. He saw them, along with Joan Jett and the Kinks in Pennsylvania with about 100,000 back in the ‘80s. He said he loved the show, Foreigner being one of his all-time favorite bands, but he had a bad experience at the show. He was dating a woman at the time that decided to pick a fight with him at the concert. He wondered away from her and got a little high with some people he met in the crowd. As he left the arena, the mother of his girlfriend pulled up and dropped off his luggage stating that she knew that he wouldn’t be able to make it back from the concert in time to pick up his things and still make the bus/train (whichever) in time. He said it was rather obvious that his girlfriend’s mother hated him and from the sounds of it, he didn’t continue seeing the woman after the Foreigner show.

Also early in today’s program, the guys discussed a letter that was sent to their bosses from a woman named Margaret from Dallas, TX. TnT figured that she was probably in town for the CWS on June 25th, a Monday, when she caught some of TnT’s Best Of that aired because they were on vacation that week. She was upset at some of the things they were saying about a ‘’local tragedy’’ and seemed surprised that such talk was occurring on the air in the Midwest. She had obviously bought into the whole heartland values bull pudding.

Anyway, attached to the letter was Margaret’s home phone number. At a quarter after 6am, TnT phoned her to find out exactly what she heard that had upset her so much. When she answered, sounding about 100-years-old, she told TnT that she heard some comments about a love triangle. TnT discussed their comments with her, pointing out that they were not making fun of the tragedy involved in that particular story, they were actually joking around about their own love triangle experiences.

As the conversation continued, TnT found out that Margaret was actually 75-years-old and was in town that weekend visiting family, not for the CWS. TnT also told the lady that in her home town, Dallas, there surely are strange stories similar to the one they spoke of but after asking about what types of shows she listens to down there, it was clear that she’s not the type of person who would normally listen to a show like theirs. Before letting her go, they made nice with the elderly woman and told her that she shouldn’t stop coming to Omaha because of them, a thought that they later admitted to being amused by. Perhaps we’ll hear from Margaret again in the future. Then again, Father Time might put the kibosh on any plans of that.

Brian came in with a news report following TnT’s conversation with Margaret. After he concluded, Todd and Tyler fired up their connection to everyone’s favorite medical professional, Dr. Ed. He began taking calls right away and as you might imagine, there were some really strange ones this morning. Some of the topics covered this morning included men with abnormally hairy asses, the effects of Carmex on one’s bung hole, people who have rage fits and don’t remember them, the frequency of eating disorders in men, man can breast cancer, people who cough/sneeze/grunt one out and end up fainting, the whole issue of cryogenics, things called ‘’cocksacky virii’’(?), and most importantly of all, the gang discussed the varying thickness of men’s scrotums. It was yet another stellar visit with Dr. Ed this morning. If you missed it, feel free to check out tonight’s 3rd Shift Replay and keep in mind that Dr. Ed will be rejoining TnT via the Mexican Connection in about two weeks.

J Medicine Hat and Stephano from the Funny Bone came by the studio this morning and hung out with the guys for a while. During their visit, Hat spent some time talking with Dr. Ed and TnT about his cocaine-induced medical problems. He told the story about how he died a couple of times after a night of doing a coffee cup full of blow and drinking a $900 bottle of whiskey. Later in the program, he talked with TnT about some of the shows he’s had at the Funny Bone so far and discussed the problems he’s encountered while traveling with some of his props, namely his fat girl inflatable love doll, Fat Suzy. You can catch J Medicine Hat and Stephano at the Funny Bone all weekend by calling 493-8036. You can also call that number to make reservations to see the show tonight. Todd and Tyler will be there for another Z-92 night at the Funny Bone and you’ll be able to see one hell of a show for only $1 per person. Phone them now and get your reservations before things fill up.

The guys were scheduled to talk with Lou Gramm of Foreigner at 9am but when that time rolled around, they had yet to hear from him. They seemed a little disappointed but didn’t let it slow up the show. They brought in Brian with the E-news. Not too long into Brian’s report, Lou Gramm did call in. The guys began the conversation by asking about the VH1 Behind the Music story that covered Foreigner. Lou said that he felt they did a great job with the show. From there, TnT asked about Lou’s health, as he is currently recovering from some sort of non-cancerous brain tumor. Lou said he’s feeling much better, working out, and is anxious to get his creative juices flowing once again. They then discussed some of the band’s 25-year history, touring, and what’s in the works for Foreigner in the future. Lou mentioned that they are going to work on some new things and then told TnT about a couple of re-releases that are coming out. All in all it was a pretty cool interview, even if it was a somewhat clear that the brain tumor has slowed up Lou’s mental process a bit. If you would like to see Foreigner, they’re playing at Ameristar on Sunday night and you can obtain tickets for $25-$35.

As TnT wrapped up their show, Brian continued with his entertainment report. As his kicker story this morning, he chose not to do a dead baby story. Instead, he provided a heartwarming tale about a man who was arrested for cooking up a kitty cat on an apartment complex grill. It was horrible, he was scolded, and to recover from the story, Todd and Tyler played the ‘’Cats in the Freezer’’ song, which can be found on any ‘’Hair Lip’’ CD at Homers or Quick Trips.

Tomorrow the guys are going to speak with Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot. They are also scheduled to speak with a female actress, whose name escapes me, that recently appeared in that ‘’YaYa Sisterhood’’ flick. It should be another excellent show from our favorite radio duo so make sure to join them at 5:30am for the Thursday program. Remember, if you missed this morning’s show, you can catch it again tonight at 10pm during the 3rd Shift Replay. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
