TnT Show 08-22-2002

Thursday 8-22-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about last night’s Z-92 night at the Funny Bone. Everyone seemed to agree that the Freaky Female show was outstanding. It featured a tattooed and pierced lady, a midget, and a lesbian. The guys then moved on to talk about a few other topics of interest, including the Huskers. Through e-mail, they’ve been keeping in touch with their old news chick Lisa Volenec and it seems that she’s gripping hardcore about the upcoming season. Lisa is coming to town for the game this weekend and may be joining TnT in studio if she can find a ride. TnT joked, saying that there are plenty of fire trucks in town she could probably latch on to.

Brian came in with the news early in the show. As he read through the stories, TnT commented on each. At one point, the guys got off on a tangent about how mind numbingly boring Brian’s afternoon mowing job must be. Brian said that there are times he can’t believe some of the whacked things that pop into his head as he’s cutting the grass but it seems that most of the time, there’s absolutely nothing going on in BW’s head.

Late in yesterday’s show, TnT teased us by mentioning that their friend Black Tony got in trouble with his wife. They revealed the details of the story this morning when Tony phoned in after Brian’s newscast. Todd said that he had talked to Tony’s wife, who works at the station, and she was stressing out because she had heard from people around the office that Tony was hitting on anything that moved at the Z-Bash. Todd tried to reassure her that he wasn’t but was under the impression that he really wasn’t helping matters much. Tony told TnT about what his wife said she had heard and went on to say that none of the things she had heard were true. TnT backed Tony up on his claims of innocence, stating that they hadn’t seen him hitting on anyone at all. BW and Donnie also backed up their buddy.

The conversation about Tony getting accused of doing something he didn’t brought up an interesting point that TnT explored for a while. In their experiences, when a woman continuously accuses her man of doing something he hasn’t done, eventually he’ll end up doing it. The logic behind that seemed to be, ‘’Well if she’s going to accuse me of screwing around on her, I might as well do it so I get something out of the whole thing.’’ Admittedly, that line of thinking has caused the guys troubles in the past but they’ve rehabilitated themselves now and see the error in the thinking of their youth. The guys opened up the phone lines to listeners who wanted to talk about the subject but not many seemed willing to admit that they cheated only after being accused of it over and over.

Travis came in this morning with a sports report. Before delivering that report, though, Travis told TnT that he had spoken to a buddy of his regarding Trav’s behavior at this year’s Z-Bash. Trav’s buddy told him that he was indeed a super hammered dick, something Trav didn’t seem to believe when Donnie brought it up over the past few days. But now that Trav had conformation from the friend he trusted, he began to believe it. Donnie gloated a little bit about being right all along but Travis used that as yet another way to hate Donnie. It was rather funny.

When Travis actually did his sportscast, he explained that local sports guys are in kind of a weird place in relation to covering the Huskers. After all, the team hasn’t played anyone yet so no one really knows how good or bad the team is going to be this year. Trav then went on to say that with the help of a Playstation 2 college football video game, he is going to simulate each Husker game of the season by letting the computer control both teams, and then give us some video of the turnout the games each week. That should be pretty cool so listen to TnT and find out when Travis will be airing the clips from the simulated Husker games and we’ll see how accurate the Playstation people are.

Todd and Tyler spoke to Michael Scott this morning. As you may recall, the guys spent some time talking about a video clip of Michael being attacked by a gecko while hosting a morning TV animal segment in Dallas. Michael told TnT about the incident and the aftermath. His news station was swarmed by requests for the clip and interviews with Michael and within an hour and a half, the clip had made its way around the world via the internet. Within 5 days, the station’s web site, Local News, Weather, TV Schedules, Entertainment - KXAS | Dallas/Fort Worth - NBC Channel 5, had taken more than a million hits as people looked for the clip. Leno even picked up on the clip and has been playing it on his show, too. TnT talked about a few other things with Michael, including his engagement, before letting him go.

Chuck Roberts, former Channel 3 news guy, phoned Todd and Tyler this morning. He’s currently on CNN’s Headline News. TnT talked about how Headline News works and found out that everything is done live. They then asked about the crawls on the bottom of the screen, a post 9-11 phenomenon that has stuck around, and how those crawls have changed from terrorist and war news to celebrity birthdays and kitty cat stories. Chuck also spent some time talking about people he’s worked with over the years and reminisced about his days on Channel 3 between ’74 and ’81. Chuck seemed like a really cool guy so perhaps Todd and Tyler will speak with him again in the future.

From the Funny Bone, Tanya Lee Davis and Susanna Lee joined TnT in studio. The gang spent some time talking about last night’s Z-92 night at the Bone. Tanya, the ‘’little person,’’ made fun of the size of Midget Brian’s head all night, which TnT thought was hilarious. This morning they discussed the variations in little people, over 300 different types, how some don’t like the word ‘’midget’’, and infighting between the various types of little people. Tanya also talked a bit about her comedy act, how she got started, how she met her 6 foot tall husband, and described several of her TV appearances on Maury.

Susanna Lee also joined in on the conversation. TnT used to work for her father so they asked to call him to catch up on old times. Unfortunately, they got his voice mail and had to leave him a message. Susanna, too, talked about her history in comedy and the style of show she does.

For further information on either comic, you can visit their web sites. What're You Starin' At? or Susannalee.com. You can also see both of them performing live at the Funny Bone this week by phoning 493-8036 for reservations.

Towards the end of the show, Brian returned with an entertainment report. He mentioned that his cist is being removed tomorrow afternoon so TnT have deemed tomorrow a goodbye to the cist show. The gang also discussed Michael Jackson’s Neapolitan penis and a 70-year-old saggy-sacked car buying Corky as the e-news wrapped up.

Todd and Tyler wrapped up their show this morning by phoning their new sista friend, Cynthia. They invited her out to the Funny Bone last night and she came out. Before TnT got to meet her, however, her boyfriend made them leave. She didn’t seem willing to share the details of why she had to bail before meeting the guys but she did say that when she met Donnie last night, she thought he was kind of cute. Donnie mirrored that by saying that Cynthia is a hottie. Perhaps TnT will get to meet Cynthia in the near future. Until then, it seems that they plan on concluding each day’s show with a call to their new friend.

Well, that’s the Thursday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and make sure to rejoin TnT tomorrow at 5:30am as they wrap up yet another stellar week of radio excellence. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
