TnT Show 09-05-2002

Thursday 9-5-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with some talk of last night’s Harlan Williams show at the Funny Bone. The guys had a great time and couldn’t recommend the show enough, reminding us that Harlan would be joining them again this morning. Tyler mentioned that before he and Becky attended the comedy show, they tried to visit a new restaurant near the Westroads mall. When they arrived at 5pm, there was already a line of blue hairs in Bermuda shorts standing outside waiting for a table so they opted to go to the Macaroni Grill instead. Tyler commented about the sad state of entertainment in Omaha, which with the exception of the Fabulous Funny Bone consists only of restaurants. The guys then moved on to a discussion about Playstation football games and how one of the cable sports stations is using the idea of playing out football games on the PSX2’s and using the video for promotions. The idea is similar to what TnT will be doing for the Golden Rod’s schedule all season at the upcoming Monday Night Football games.

Also early in the show, TnT read over a couple of e-mails. One of which was from Duchesne Jessie, the catholic high school girl who e-mailed them yesterday. Her e-mail this morning said that she tried to phone the guys yesterday but was unable to get through. After analyzing the e-mail addresses of today and yesterday’s messages, TnT were suspect that the e-mail was a hoax. They later found out, though, when Jessie phoned in that the second message she sent the guys was mailed form her friend’s computer (explaining the reason for two different e-mail addresses).

Before going any further in their conversation with the young lady, TnT asked Jessie’s age and seemed quite relieved when she said she was 18-years-old. From there, they talked with her about what she likes about the TnT show. Honestly, I didn’t catch her answer (and I don’t think TnT did either) because my mind was focusing on her earlier description of her school uniform. Before concluding the call, Donnie asked her if she could send in a photo of herself or perhaps a pair of panties. As you might imagine, TnT scolded their producer viciously for the panty remark. I’m sure the guys will hear from Duchesne Jessie again in the future so stay tuned.

Brian came in with a news report a little later on. During the news, the guys discussed some rumors Brian heard at a bar called Lunker’s regarding a new, trendy bar that’s opening just up the road. The new bar is trying to draw in clientele with lots of money who above the age of 25. TnT discussed how that might work and joked about having a bouncer at the door turning down 24-year-olds. The guys also had a lengthy discussion about the roads department here in the city. Even though they understand why the city planners start so many different projects (so they don’t lose funding), they still think it’s a bit ridiculous to have 20 projects going on all over town. Why not focus all of their labor, money and attention to one project at a time and get it done quickly instead of spreading resources out over so many projects that will inevitably take for-damn-near-ever?

Brian then read a story that involved two different flags that had something to do with 9-11. Todd mentioned that Brian’s story was a bit confusing but Brian didn’t seem to think so, mocking Todd’s memory loss. Brian was, however, quite wrong. The two separate flag stories that BW had combined into one tangent-filled story were definitely confusing. Keep in mind that not only was Todd totally right on, but he’s also the best example of a father, a husband, a son, a brother, and a friend one could ever hope for in this world. Todd = total package and all around amazing man!

After the news, Todd and Tyler reintroduced their discussion from yesterday’s show regarding the concept of ‘’revirginization.’’ They opened up the phone lines and took some calls from listeners who had gone through the process of having sex with their ladies and having sex ripped away prior to a wedding in a feeble attempt to make the wedding night special. The men who checked in this morning, with little prodding, all admitted that the whole thing was their women’s idea and they got suckered into going along with it. One guy went to far as to say that the only reason he agreed to it is because when the topic was mentioned to him by his girlfriend, she was in mid-Diekman. At that point, ladies, a man would agree to let you cut off his legs with a pair of pliers. That’s totally unfair!

Travis came in with a sports report, which included some discussion about his ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ feedback. Trav mentioned that most of the people who commented seemed to agree with him. The gang then discussed some of the rumors going around regarding Funder’s suspension. Because Lincoln isn’t talking, TnT offered up their phone lines to any listener who wanted to spread their own rumors. They received several calls including one from Funder himself. His voice morphed from brotha to Tiger Woods to Cartman all in a matter of 2 minutes. For the record, those are cataloged as Donnie Voice 3A, Donnie Voice 6L-49R, and Donnie Voice 19X4-2, respectively. It was quite funny.

While where on the sports topic, Donnie was somehow given the cell phone number to Marshal Faulk of the NFL. Marshal answered and Donnie tried to get him to go on the air but he wouldn’t. Well that upset Donnie a bit and he proceeded to give out a portion of Faulk’s cell phone number and hinted to the remaining two numbers that he didn’t give out. Several minutes later, calls began to pour in from TnT listeners who had figured out Faulk’s cell number and had phoned him themselves. Several left messages while one guy said he actually spoke to Faulk. Eventually his voice mailbox was filled up from the TnT listeners, something everyone found hilarious.

Todd and Tyler’s comedian friend Vilmoshe from the Funny Bone joined the guys this morning. He spent some time talking to the guys about marathon running and training, as he has recently gotten into the activity. Later in his visit, he attempted to help one of the guys from the band Bonepecker collect $15 from his ex-wife, which she owed for their child’s lunch ticket. TnT attempted to get her on the phone but they were unsuccessful. Vilmoshe joined in on the topics of the day and hung out for the remainder of the show.

Harlan Williams from the Funny Bone stopped by again this morning during the last hour of the show. He came in wearing sunglasses, normally a sign of being stoned when one shows up to the TnT studio at 9am, but said that he just had allergies. TnT then commented on the hottie they saw Harlan with, speculating that he had flown her in from out of town, but Harlan denied their accusations and stated that the woman they saw him with was actually his sister. Consequently, the ‘’your sister’’ card was dropped repeatedly. Harlan hung out for the remainder of the show. You can catch him at the Funny Bone tonight only so call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations.

To wrap up today’s program, BW returned to the news desk with an entertainment report. During the report, Harlan Williams gave Brian a hard time about his selection of ‘’entertainment’’ stories, which mostly consisted of death and destruction. TnT explained that that’s just what BW does during the e-news and mentioned he should have come on a day when there was another Nebraska Sex Offender List to read.

Well that’s it for the Thursday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and make sure to rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow morning at 5:30am as they wrap up yet another week of stellar radio programming. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
