Monday 9-16-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about their weekends. Todd ate some fish that was undercooked at an undisclosed restaurant while Tyler went to eat with the 5pm old people at PF Changs. From there, the guys discussed Tyler’s football watching party on Saturday, although there was zero mention of the game or the outcome until much later in the show. They did, however, elude to how happy they became after the party, wondering out loud why they could be feeling so pleased with everything in the world since the party. In fact, Tyler might have learned to skip post-party. Also early on, the guys mentioned that they had received tons of e-mails from listeners telling them, and specifically Tyler, to have fun with today’s show. Again, they pondered aloud what those e-mailers could possibly be referring to. They just seemed unable to put their fingers on anything.

The guys finally mentioned the Penn State victory over the Huskers at about 7:15am, humorously referring to the game itself as ‘’the events of 9-14’’. It was obvious that it was killing them holding off for as long as they did. They discussed how the mood of Tyler’s party changed, as did their moods individually, as the game moved along. They read over some related e-mails and took plenty of phone calls from their listeners on the subject.

Brian came in with a news report. During that time, the gang talked about how John Schutes of Channel 6 dropped the, ‘’Jesus! Just let me know!’’ card on TV Saturday after some technical problems plagued their post-game broadcast. On a related note, they discussed how Channel 6 began their 5pm newscast on Friday with the 20-year-old video clip of the last Husker/Penn State game instead of starting it off with the Alligator Alley terrorist story that everyone else on the planet was focused on at the time.

Travis came in with the sports report. Before he began, he told TnT all about his trip to Pennsylvania to watch the Huskers get their asses waxed worse than his back a few years ago. As normal with Trav, he had a hilarious story to go along with his trip that involved a ton of problems. He and his photographer were separated by the airlines after their return flight had been cancelled, he later sat next to a fat guy and a Jesus woman while bouncing his jolly ass up and down from turbulence, he had to run from terminal to terminal due to a last minute flight change, and while reading Fat American Vag Magazine over the shoulder of the Jesus lady, he was promptly shut down because she didn’t like him glancing at it.

When Travis actually began his sports report, Donnie came to the microphone and spent several minutes detailing everything wrong with the Husker program. Todd-n-Tyler and Travis just let him rant because they seemed to agree with most of what he was saying and considering Donnie’s a Husker fan, perhaps having the listeners hear it from him would make more of an impact.

Later in the show, TnT mentioned that they wished they had the audio of Schutes yelling ‘’Jesus! Just let me know!’’ Shortly after, they got a phone call from a listener who had taped the game and that listener played them the audio clip. After hearing it, TnT burst into laughter, thoroughly enjoying it. Someone also dropped off a tape of the game so a bit later, Donnie had created a screen-door-swings-open ‘’Jesus! Just let me know!’’ Schutes sound effect that was played many times throughout the remainder of today’s show.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and after some initial talk about the Huskers, he delivered a commentary on sticky movie theater floors. More from Larry as the week moves on.

The guys continued their discussion of the Husker game and their happiness with the turnout. More phone calls and e-mails came in from the listeners as TnT tried to steer the focus from the game itself to angry, bad fans people encountered. There was a call about a guy throwing his TV out a window, another man tossed his Husker flag into the yard and wouldn’t let it be picked up, ect.. TnT also wondered what had happened to their recent hate e-mailers who claimed that the Huskers never lose and that they’re the best team ever. None of those people bothered to check in this morning.

To wrap up the show, BW came in with the e-news. TnT discussed the Universal Diekman Position, Tyler talked about enjoying a finger up the butt, The Schutes sound clip continued to flow, as did plenty of ‘’Aim for my mouth!’’ audio clips from Brass Grille Geno. Brian then read over a wedding announcement that was full of detailed information about the bride and groom’s dead grandparents and he concluded with an uplifting story about a little girl whose face was ripped off by a big dog.

Tonight is another installment of Monday Night Football at Brewsky’s off of 156^th and Q Street.
