TnT Show 11-14-2002

Thursday 11-14-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about last night’s Z-92 night at the Funny Bone. They had a great turnout for the show and really seemed to enjoy all of the comedians who performed. The guys also mentioned that BW was there with a ‘’friend’’ named Heather, who he quickly carted away from TnT after a short introduction. Also early in the show, the guys talked about the Channel 7 news last night, which mentioned that Julie and Bill are having some difficulty with their unborn babies. The gang wished them both well and then commented on how Rob McCartney should probably be doing the newscast alone instead of with an alternate anchor.

The guys also spent some time discussing deer hunting this morning. I believe Jeremy, who is going deer hunting this weekend, spawned the topic. Somehow the guys got on the subject of black guys hunting, everyone assuming that they don’t. They took some deer hunting phone calls during this portion of the show, with other deer hunting calls scattered throughout the remainder of the program. Several of their early morning calls smacked of Urban Legends.

Another early morning topic that carried over to various parts of the rest of today’s show came about after Tyler mentioned last night’s ‘’Ed’’ episode. On the show, someone left their soon-to-be spouse at the alter. TnT wondered how often that sort of thing really occurs and then opened up the phone lines to their listeners. Callers checked in with their own stories but most of them seemed to relate to how soon after a wedding a couple split up.

One of the funnier calls on the topic came from a guy who told Todd and Tyler that his friend had recently broken up with her wife. She left town to go visit family while the guy stayed here. One night he got all hammered up and phoned the woman, telling her that he wanted to get back together. When the guy sobered up in the morning, he didn’t remember what he said. Now, he’s awaiting her arrival in town so he can deal with the mess he’s made. TnT offered up their suggestions for the caller’s friend, some of it quite sound advice. They told the caller to tell his friend to pick a fight with the lady when she returns and use that fight as an excuse to say that it’s clear the couple fights too much, shouldn’t be together, and what the man said when he drunkenly phoned her was wrong.

BW came in with the news a little later in the program. There were a variety of amusing stories this morning but none compared to a hunting related tale. According to the report, an 89-year-old man shot at what he thought was a deer 200 yards away. It actually turned out to be a horse, which was being ridden at the time by a 12-year-old girl. The newscast was wrapped up with a heartwarming tale of autoerotic asphyxiation gone bad, which spawned more phone calls throughout the remainder of the show.

Summer and John from the Omaha Weekly stopped by the studio today and hung out with the guys for a bit. They asked Todd and Tyler if they had any Holiday Wishes for the upcoming year. As you might expect, TnT didn’t take the whole thing all that seriously, joking about various wishes they had for 2003. The two stayed for the rest of the show, chiming in here and there when appropriate.

The guys have been getting lots of requests from area schools to have the Todd and Tyler Traveling Dodge Ball All Star team come to town for a match. This morning, lots of love came in from Skylar, NE. A package of gifts was dropped off, which included a signature sheet with over 700 adult names on it. Also, many phone callers from Skylar checked in to share the love with TnT. As the season approaches, I’m sure we’ll get the full list of schools the Todd and Tyler Traveling Dodge Ball All Stars will be headed to so stay tuned.

Out of the blue this morning, Todd and Tyler got a phone call from a lipstick lesbian who happens to live very close to Tyler’s neighborhood named Melissa. She told the guys that she heard they were looking for a homosexual representative for their show and thought she’d offer up her services. She talked with TnT for a bit about her history as a lesbian, discussed her relationship with her lipstick girlfriend, talked at length about lesbian movie night, and seemed to work out a lesbian porn movie trading deal with Tyler. Later, they spoke to Melissa’s girlfriend, Amy. She seemed just as cool as Melissa and further elaborated on chomping pie. I’m sure we’ll hear from the two again in the future.

Travis came in with a sports report. He didn’t have much to say about any ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ reaction today, although he did say that he’s been getting a ton of hate e-mail at the station from people who don’t like him because he’s not a Husker Homer. After he concluded the sports report, Trav shed a little light on his terrible childhood, spawned by the Holiday Wishes discussion TnT were having with John and Summer from Omaha Weekly. It’s a wonder Travis has the ability to socialize with anyone, considering his hatred towards his own family. As the holidays approach, I’m sure we’ll hear more about the Troubles with Travis so stay tuned.

Chris, Kid of Kid and Play, stopped by the studio today and hung out with the guys for a bit. He’s appearing at the Funny Bone all week along with yesterday’s in-studio comedian guest and Billy D. Washington. He talked with the guys about last night’s show and then gave them some history of himself. He grew up in Queens, a Jamaican father and Irish mother, and discussed what it was like being bi-racial. He also talked about his music and movie career. Kid’s good friends with Bill Maher, the ‘’Politically Incorrect’’ host, so he talked quite a bit about Bill’s situation with TnT. The Kid joined in on all the other topics of the day and really seemed to enjoy himself with the guys. He’s very funny so I strongly urge you to call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 to reserve your spot to see the Kid this weekend.

Towards the end of the show, BW returned with the e-news. After another celebrity birthday debate, the guys decided to change the name of that segment of the e-news to ‘’Who the hell is that?’’ Also during this segment of the show, TnT read an e-mail from a listener who told them that he and his wife were splitting up after she found out he was cheating on her. He went on to tell the guys that his wife always had a crush on BW and now that they’re breaking up (yet still living together), perhaps BW would like to go to his wife’s work Christmas party with her. The guys thought the e-mail was a bit odd so they decided to phone Shelly, the man’s wife, at work. She talked to the guys about the problems she and her husband are having and seemed surprised that her husband would offer her up as a date to BW. After talking to Shelly about what her husband had said in the e-mail, TnT seemed to agree that the whole situation was just whacked. Perhaps we’ll hear more about this in the future.

Well that’s it for the Thursday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and make sure to rejoin the guys tomorrow morning at 5:30am for the Friday show. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
