TnT Show 12-10-2002

Tuesday 12-10-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about the Channel 6 news. They were disappointed that the station decided to air, as their lead-off, a Husker related story regarding ticket availability for the bowl game. They both felt that the station should have aired the story of the local high school kid who died while practicing basketball yesterday, like all of the other stations. They elaborated further by saying how slow the Channel 6 news is compared to the rest of the stations.

The guys then mentioned an interview they had scheduled for later in the show with a woman named Judith Brandt, no relation to Todd. She’s written a book about cheating and after reading some of the content, TnT discussed their opinions on the subject. They disagreed with some of the rules the author laid out in her book and pointed out that some of the things she wrote about were rather obvious, such as rule #1, don’t get caught. The guys then moved on, saving the conversation for later in the show.

TnT also talked about last night’s Monday Night Football party at Brewsky’s. They had another great turnout for the event and Sherry, last night’s speed dater, seemed to have a good time getting to know all of the guys who speed dated her. Sherry called in a little later to talk about the evening, stating that all of the men she met were quite nice and that she would probably be calling a couple of them for follow-up dates. Sherry told the guys she was a bit tired after last night’s activities and mentioned that once she goes over her notes and confers with her friends who were helping her out last night, she’ll decided which of the guys she’ll phone back. I’m sure we’ll get a follow-up so stay tuned.

BW came in with the news a little later in the show and he had a variety of stories for Todd and Tyler to talk about. One of the more interesting was a ‘’squat and cough’’ story about a 16-year-old Beaver City girl who is suing the police department for misconduct. Evidentially, the police raided her father’s place and after a pat down, they noticed a bulge in her pants. The officers then sent her into the bathroom with a female officer who stripped the young girl down and made her put in a new feminine hygiene product to prove that she was having her period, not packing heat. TnT also discussed the idiotic statement made by Trent Lott yesterday about how he wished Strom Thurmand would have gotten elected in ’48, back when he was running for president on a racist segregation platform. BW then concluded the newscast with an uplifting story about a woman who tried to break into her own house, got stuck in her window, and died.

TnT reintroduced their cheating discussion after the news and opened up the phone lines to their listeners. They asked for stories related to some of the cheating rules they mentioned earlier as well as asking for calls about getting caught cheating or how the listeners might have caught their loved ones cheating. Listeners checked in with some stories and the conversation eventually led into Matt and Kelly from Cohen, Vacanti, Higgins, and Shattuck’s visit to the show.

After playing a little bit of catch-up with their lawyer friends, Todd and Tyler opened the phone lines and let their listeners check in with legal questions. Matt and Kelly helped those that they could and stressed their disappointment with people who use their children as weapons in divorces. To their surprise, they also got a couple of calls this morning from men detailing violent behavior from their women. One guy’s wife tore the screen door off of his home while another guy told of getting bitch-slapped by his behemoth wife. The lawyers also joined in on all of the other topics of the day, enjoying their time with Todd and Tyler like always. If you’d like to get in contact with the guys from Cohen, Vacanti, Higgins, and Shattuck, they can be reached at 345-7600 or on the web at FATHERSRIGHTSLAW.COM.

Travis came in with the sports report later in today’s program. Before he dove into it, he spent some time talking with the guys about the commercial he voiced for the lawyer’s law firm. TnT found it quite funny that ‘’Not an option’’ Trav would be the voice of a divorce law firm’s commercials. Travis then spent some time discussing the strange relationship he has with his parents, which sounded more like a trained counseling session that would be better fitted for Kevin McKenzie.

Trav eventually got around to his sports report, which included some talk about who he might be tossing his Heisman vote to. He then followed that up with a continuation of an earlier discussion about how slow the Channel 6 newscast is. The gang then discussed the noticeable differences between each station’s news, talked about their choices of stories, and covered the differences in the sports departments. Travis also mentioned that he is doing is ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ commentary tonight, although he wouldn’t give up any details regarding tonight’s topics.

Judith Brandt, the author of ‘’50 Mile Rule, Your Guide to Infidelity’’ spoke to Todd and Tyler this morning. The guys began by asking why she wrote the book and what she was trying to say with it. She explained that she doesn’t really condone cheating, it’s just that there are so many people doing it. By writing this book, she hoped to inform those thinking about cheating of the consequences while offering up suggestions on how to be smart about it if one does decide to cheat. TnT discussed some of the points in her book and then talked with Judith about her own relationship. She claims to be ‘’the other woman’’ so she has some first-hand experience on the subject. All in all, it was a very interesting interview, although everyone seemed to agree that having Judith’s book sitting around the house might not be the best thing to do when you’re in a relationship. By the way, you can find out more about the book by visiting Welcome to the 50 Mile Rule.

BW returned later in the show with this morning’s e-news. During this segment, there was lots of Thunder Dome talk, as Mel Gibson has decided to make a 4th Mad Max movie. That led into pretty much everyone in the studio doing some of the worst Australian accents ever broadcast, which was funny as hell. The guys also played a clip from a commercial that has been airing lately regarding groin hernias. They laughed at one line in particular, ‘’Have you noticed a bulge in your groin?’’ and pondered editing the clip down and adding the infamous screen door sound effect to it. We’ll probably hear that tomorrow. To wrap up the e-news segment, BW did an Obscure Dead Guy of the Day, ‘’Who the hell is that?’’, and the gang had an interesting yet disturbing discussion about Todd’s dog’s period and the thong panties the animal is now wearing to avoid staining the carpet.

Well, that’s it for the update today. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and make sure to rejoin the guys tomorrow at 5:30am for the Wednesday edition of the Todd and Tyler show. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
