TnT Show 12-18-2002

Wednesday 12-18-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by giving us an idea of what they had planned for the day. This included some talk of a later interview with the author of a book that detailed how pretty much everything can kill you. That interview, though, didn’t come about and after hearing TnT’s early morning talk about it, they most likely pulled the plug. Anyway, from there the guys talked about the diary of Crouch article from the paper and seemed amused that the NFL caliber athlete smokes cigarettes at Cigarros. They also discussed some of the details of Crouch’s income and agreed that if they could earn $75,000 for signing 5000 magazines, they’d do it too. Before bringing in BW with the news, TnT also discussed the most recent Maxim Magazine featuring that dirty little hottie, Christina Aguilera. After seeing the cover and photos within the mag, TnT concurred with Maxim’s description of that particular photo shoot as ‘’the steamiest ever.’’

BW, the unfrozen caveman news chick, came in with this morning’s news report. He discussed briefly his force-a-date lunch that took place yesterday afternoon at the Brass Grille (1207 Harney). BW said he had a good time with the short girl but there didn’t seem to be any chemistry. That could have also had something to do with the fact that the lady’s friends were sitting at a table nearby eavesdropping on their conversation making things quite uncomfortable for Brian. BW then spent some time complaining about his mug shot photo on the Z-92 web site, stating that everyone he runs into says that he looks nothing like that anymore. He’s dropped so much weight over the past 6 months or so that the mug shot makes him look like a total lard ass compared to his now Skeletor-like build. One person humorously thought BW was a Spaniard due to the black-and-white effect of the mug shot. He eventually did news, which TnT seemed quite disappointed with.

Dr. Ed joined Todd and Tyler this morning live from his basement in Texas. After playing a little catch-up and hearing about how Tyler’s new baby is doing, TnT opened up the phone lines for their listeners. As with all Dr. Ed visits, the calls this morning covered a wide range of strange medical conditions. The guys all talked about anal itching, throck piercing, medical pot and pot brownies, ‘’butt explosions’’, skull tightening, coughing after sex, the benefits of coral calcium, low testosterone levels, and biting off taint moles. Dr. Ed will be rejoining Todd and Tyler for another visit in about 3 weeks so if you happened to miss his time with TnT this morning, prepare your medically related questions for everyone’s favorite professional now and have them standing by.

Blue House stopped by the studio today and played a couple of tunes for Todd and Tyler to continue this week’s Christmas music theme. They brought in a gift for the show as well. The gift was one of those speech recognition computer programs, which, in theory, will make it possible for BW to speak his newscast and have the computer type it out for him. The band seemed to think that the software might help BW get his news reports prepared a little quicker. After the gift exchange, the band played ‘’Frosty the Snow Man’’ and ‘’The Christmas Song’’, both sounding excellent. You can catch Blue House performing at McKenna’s on Friday night and at the Shark Club on Saturday.

Todd and Tyler spoke to this week’s Funny Bone headliner, Eddie Gossling. He’s on his way to town for the weekend and will arrive in time to perform for Z-92 night at the Funny Bone tonight. He talked with TnT about how he recently dropped a bunch of weight, giving the nod of success to eating sticks of butter coated in Magic Shell, and mentioned that quitting smoking pot might have helped as well. He also told the guys that he recently married tonight’s feature act in Vegas. Call the Bone phone at 493-8036 for reservations to tonight’s show. You’ll be able to get in for $2 or a new, unwrapped toy donation.

James Martin Davis came into the studio this morning and spent some time with Todd and Tyler. The gang discussed many of the high profile cases that Davis has been a part of over the last few years including the man who was beat up by Council Bluffs police for video taping them. They also spent quite a bit of time talking about the new Boomers case, where a couple of the dancers were busted for alleged prostitution. JMD also talked at length about various forms of entrapment, including teen narcs that try to buy cigarettes and beer, and they covered some issues related to the zero tolerance mindset that has swept the judicial system recently. Before leaving, he also discussed his congressional bid from a few years ago. It was cool to hear James Martin Davis on the show with TnT. He played along very well with the guys and seemed not only to be an intelligent, well-versed man, but pretty funny, too! I’m sure he’ll be back on the show again in the future so stay tuned.

Travis came in with a sports report this morning, which included a lot of talk about the upcoming bowls. He also gave his ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ commentary that aired on KM3’s 10pm newscast last night. His topics included how no one is taking the offensive coordinator position at UNL because there’s no job security, how the Huskers would be a great 1AA team, and how the Cubs have the right to sue rooftop restaurant owners in Chicago. If you’d like to comment on any of his topics, feel free to leave him a voice mail at 593-2706 or e-mail him at travis@km3news.com or travis@z92.com.

Todd and Tyler spoke to Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen this morning. The band’s headed to the new Council Bluffs arena for a show on Friday so they guys spent some time discussing Def Leppard’s current play list and tour. TnT then talked with Phil about the old days, what Mutt Lang is like, and how the band has been able to transcend the hair band genre and survive so long. They also covered some of the VH-1 stuff that has been done on the band, which Phil seemed to enjoy. It was a cool interview that will surely end up on a Best Of show so if you missed it this morning, tune in Saturday or during tonight’s 3rd Shift Replay for a chance to catch it again.

Todd and Tyler opted to skip this morning’s e-news segment with BW because they basically ran out of time. Instead, they read the sponsorships and cut to their final commercial break before wrapping up the show. During that commercial break, a Spanish commercial aired due to a mistake made in the computer. It was funny as hell. The guys broke in at the end of the commercial joking about the error and later played the commercial again just for s-bombs and giggles.

Tonight is another Z-92 night at the Funny Bone. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations for tonight or the rest of the week. Keep in mind that tomorrow is also the Todd and Tyler Girls of Z-92 calendar release party at the Ice House. If you don’t already know the details, where have you been? It starts at 6pm and all 12 of the hotties from the calendar will be there. Make sure to join TnT and Ms. INSERT-MONTH-HERE tomorrow at the Ice House. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
