Monday 12-23-02

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by mentioning that Congressman Lee Terry would be joining them a bit later in the day. The reason for his visit, as they concluded, was now that the Congress is on holiday break, all of the representatives are headed home to make sure they get the word out that Republicans love black people, referring to Trent Lott’s racist comments from about a week ago. While on that subject, TnT mentioned that Black Tony had joined them in studio this morning. From there, the guys played ‘’Where’d you eat this weekend?’’ and then discussed the paper’s article comparing Omaha to Shreveport. Jeremy came in with a Def Leppard concert review (the crowd was sad) and then BW told us all about his vagina shot birthday party at the Red Eye on Saturday night. BW said he began drinking at 8pm and by 11pm, he was completely out of it. He succumbed to the Fish Heads’ tequila shot offer and it kicked him square in the sack.

BW then provided the guys a very cheery newscast full of death and destruction just in time for the holidays. There were stories of shootings, stabbings, car crashes, babies getting run over, and racist slurs in police stations, among other heartwarming tales. Then, to conclude the news, Brian read over what Todd and Tyler described as the best wedding announcement ever. This morning’s announcement detailed the journey of two recently married Mormon people as they went from Utah, south to New Mexico, across Texas and finally worked their way back to Nebraska. The article also detailed how the couple met, in a Russian class, and told the vomit-educing story about their trip together across that wasteland of a country, where the couple missed hamburgers and their local Radio Shack. After reading the wedding announcement in full, TnT discussed it for a bit and took a few phone calls from listeners who agreed that it was indeed the most self righteous, self centered piece of crap ever printed in the history of time.

Todd and Tyler’s lawyer friend Michael, a.k.a. the Grim Reaper, stopped by the studio and hung out for a bit. With BW’s birthday over the weekend, it’s safe to assume the Reaper brought him a gift as well as dropping off his annual Christmas presents for TnT.

A little later in the show, TnT were joined by Jana and Billie, two ladies that will both be speed dating tonight at Brewsky’s during the last Monday Night Football party of the season. After getting acquainted with the types of men the two women are interested in (they’ve got to have teeth and no beer guts), Todd and Tyler opened up the phone lines and let their listeners register for one of tonight’s speed date slots. At first, the two ladies seemed to be a little picky in the types of guys they wanted but by the end of their visit with TnT, they had both relaxed a bit and eventually they dropped a bunch of mom cards on Brian. Todd and Tyler left a few slots open for tonight’s speed dating for any of you guys who didn’t get the chance to phone in this morning but would like a shot at the action. Make sure to get to Brewsky’s early tonight and talk to Jeremy in order to get registered.

Travis came in with a sports report today. Along with filling us in on the happenings in the sports world, he talked a little about receiving some Christmas gifts from friends and listeners/viewers already. So far, Attaboy has collected 3 bottles of gin.

Lee Terry joined TnT this morning and spent a couple of hours hanging out with the guys. During his visit, they talked about saber rattling war talk in Washington as it relates to Iraq as well as discussing Trent Lott’s recent racist comments and the situation surrounding his booting. Some callers also checked in with comments and questions for Lee.

BW returned later in the show with the entertainment report. During the e-news, there was some talk about Dr. Laura’s dead mother, the cast of Friends deciding to do another season for a boatload of cash, and BW brought back a rock-related ‘’This day in history’’ segment. He then concluded the e-news with a terrible story about an old man being tortured in some horrific ways including having his nuts cut off. The story was so hideous, I’ve completely blocked out all further details.

Bobcat phoned Todd and Tyler to talk about his upcoming New Years Eve shows at the Funny Bone. Along with that, the gang spent some time talking about a variety of ‘’Man Show’’ related topics, as Bobcat directs many of the skits and short films featured on the hilarious Comedy Central hit. TnT also asked Bobcat if his friend Robin Williams might have recently been on a cruise in Russia, relating back to their early morning wedding announcement conversation in which the couple claimed to have seen Mr. Williams on a Russian boat. Bobcat said he doubted it was actually Robin but would ask him. He then went on to tell a story about rappelling naked from the rafters of a Nirvana concert, nearly landing on the head of the guy who later shot it off. Buddy Holly from the Funny Bone stopped in this morning and provided a couple of cool Christmas tunes for Todd and Tyler. He also joined in on the topics of the day, as well as discussing the last few shows his group will be performing at the Bone over the next week. For ticket information, call 493-8036. From all accounts, the Buddy Holly show (it’s music, not comedy and yes, there are people who don’t know that) at the Funny Bone is an excellent time so make sure you don’t miss it.

To wrap up the show, Todd and Tyler phoned BW’s grandpa Vern in the hospital. He’s been in there for a while working on his nuts and bolts. After dropping the ‘’nuts’’ card on Vern’s wife, to which Tyler was snagged, they actually talked to the loopy Vern about his hospital stay. He didn’t seem to know much of what was going on and really didn’t seem to care, either. It was hilarious. TnT might check back in with Vern again when they return in a few weeks so stay tuned.

Well Todd and Tyler will be out at Brewsky’s for the final Monday Night Football party of the year this evening. As mentioned earlier, Jana and Billie will be speed dating all night and in order for you to qualify for the Best Buy TV, please bring a new, unwrapped toy for the toy drive or feel free to wear silly Christmas/Santa gear. It should be lots of fun and an excellent way to conclude this football season so stop on out and see the guys this evening!
