TnT Show 01-20-2003

Monday 1-20-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with a little talk about their weekends. Todd went up to Fargo to surprise his dad on his birthday, a surprise Todd felt was probably spoiled by some blabbing family. He drank some beer, ate some German Runzas and spent most of his time in his hotel. Tyler went out to eat and made a trip to the Music Box. While there, he was busted for checking out the asses of a few hotties. One of which was his very own wife. As many of you will recall, a while ago Tyler dropped his wife off at work and as he pulled a u-turn to leave the parking lot, he caught a glimpse of a hottie. The hottie turned out to be the wife he had just dropped off. Well at the Music Box this weekend, Tyler did the exact same thing again. He told Becky what he had done but she didn’t seem to take it as the compliment Tyler intended it to be. Also early in the show, the guys spent some time talking about this weekend’s Creighton game where 10,000 ban wagon fans showed up for the event, they touched on MKL Jr. Day and discussed last night’s Golden Globe awards.

Trisha Meuret from Channel 7 was in for Brian this morning, as he hasn’t yet returned from his trip to Arkansas. When she came in, she spent some time talking with TnT about a recent media party she attended. She explained the party as being a bunch of TV and newspaper people getting together to drink. Trish said no one from Channel 3 bothered to show up but the rest of the media people had fun. They eventually ended up over at Trisha’s place for an after-hours party. She said that in order to get people to leave, she changed into her jammies and brushed her teeth in front of everyone. Eventually they got the hint and let the tired Trisha crash. When she got to the news, the gang spent some time discussing airport security and their belief that profiling should be used. A 30-year-old blonde woman with a baby in a car seat probably isn’t going to be the next hijacker. They also talked about Saturday night’s Stones concert on HBO and how the mayor of New York City wanted to have them arrested for smoking on stage.

After Trisha wrapped up the news, TnT brought up the story about Tyler checking out his own wife and not realizing it was her again. They wondered whether anyone else had ever found themselves in the same situation and then spent some time analyzing ways Tyler could have told Becky about it without making it sound bad. Even with the brainstorming and some listener input, there just didn’t seem to be any way for Tyler word, ‘’Hey, I spotted a hottie while checking out the women in this club and it turned out to be you!’’ without sounding bad.

From there, had a conversation about sleeping naked vs. with underwear on. This came up after Trisha’s mention of her jammies. Todd wanted desperately to believe that all women sleep with a sexy teddy on regardless of whether or not there’s a man in bed with him. Trisha and several of the female callers of the morning squashed his belief, though. Tyler said he used to sleep naked until he woke up one morning nude and sprawled out to the sound of his mom in the laundry room. After that, he decided underwear was the way to go. He also pointed to his fear of rolling over on his nut sack. Todd, though, said he sleeps naked several times a week and it usually occurs after a night of sex.

The gang then spent some time talking about some funny TV commercials that have recently hit the air. TnT then played a round of ‘’What commercial was I watching’’ with the listeners. That led into a discussion about what we all might expect to see in terms of commercials during this weekend’s Super Bowl. From there, Todd and Tyler discussed their Super Bowl party that will take place at Brewsky’s on Sunday and went through the entire list of events and give-aways for the day. Stay tuned to Z-92 for all of the details.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today with a commentary about how he doesn’t like the way people are singing the National Anthem at sporting events. He then told the guys that he heard John Travolta is going to be singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. TnT didn’t think that sounded right so they went to the phone lines for conformation. But even then, conflicting reports about the Super Bowl performers poured in from the phones. Eventually, TnT got everything all straightened out after a visit to Superbowl.com. They later figured out that Travolta is singing the National Anthem at the Daytona 500, the Super Bowl of auto racing, and figured that’s where Cable Guy got mixed up.

Travis came in with the sports a little later in the show. There was a lot of talk about the Creighton basketball program, the recent games KM3 has aired, tonight’s KM3 game, and the Blue Jay’s chances of getting in the big tournament this year. Tune in to KM3 for the Creighton game tonight and listen for Trav on the call. He’ll also be doing the news afterwards so stick around for his ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ segment.

Trisha returned later in the show with today’s entertainment report. She offered up a complete recap of the Golden Globes from last night. Following that, she mentioned the top 3 movies at the box office from over the weekend and it seems to me that all three are worthless wastes of not only time and money, but also film. The gang then had a lengthy Martin Luther King Jr. discussion and talked about how people shouldn’t get their African American history lessons from movies like ‘’Barber Shop’’. And to wrap up today’s e-news and show, Trisha read an obscure dead guy of the day. He was the man who invented the Jack-a-lope back in the 30s.

Well that’s it for the Monday update. BW should return tomorrow unless we get some snow so we’ve all got that to look forward to. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of today’s show and make sure to rejoin TnT tomorrow at 5:30am for the Tuesday program. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
