TnT Show 01-29-2003

Wednesday 1-29-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by talking about the President’s State of the Union address on TV last night. For the most part, it was all the same ‘’bla bla bla’’ rhetoric we hear from every president during every State of the Union address. Not impressed with what GW said, Tyler flipped over to the cartoon network to subdue his fussy baby. The guys also talked about how KM3 went live to the Furniture Mart for post-address reaction. They figured the local TV station was trying to do a little sucking up to their sponsor and that’s why they chose to go to NFL for the live feed. Also early in the show, TnT received a call from a listener begging for free tickets to the new play, ‘’Spooge’’ as featured on their show yesterday. TnT played a clip from yesterday’s in-studio performance and asked the listener to recite a line about a 10-inch dildo, which he did and was subsequently rewarded tickets for.

Late in yesterday’s show, TnT played a voice mail from a listener who hates the TnT show, Mexicans, and the music Z-92 plays on the air. The guys replayed the voice mail clip for this morning’s early listeners and after it ran, they spent some time discussing what the caller had to say. It was clear to TnT that the guy was most likely sucking on some meth, as his rambling incoherent rant was all over the board. Jessica Dol, the possible catalyst for the man’s anger because she didn’t play his Kingdom Come request, checked in and said that he called back after yesterday’s show and ranted some more to her. Listeners then checked in to give their two cents on the mindless rambling of the Kingdom Come loving meth-head.

BW came in with the news a little later in the program. He tried to get a hold of Trisha from Channel 7 to do the news for him because he was still really squeaky but she was sick too and couldn’t make it in. So BW muddled through today’s newscast and told us about courtroom outbursts leading to arrests, show-n-tell crack kids, Frankie’s $10 million law suit against the city for blowing up his building, co-ed shaving swimmers, and there was some talk of the State of the Union address.

Roger Dickson from MECA stopped by the studio this morning and spent some time talking about Omaha’s new arena and convention center with Todd and Tyler. The first concert will be some time in September, the artist Mr. Dickson wouldn’t give up, and the first convention, the Women of Faith, will follow shortly after. They then talked about some of the other possible types of events that could be drawn to Omaha by the new convention center, including the possibility of an NCAA regional tournament of some sort. The guys also discussed the parking situation, seating capacity, how the arena’s beer and concession prices might look, skybox prices, and the naming rights issue. Callers checked in with their questions as well. It was a very interesting conversation with Roger and I’m sure Todd and Tyler will have him back on the air as the new arena prepares to open in September.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and delivered a commentary that was actually a speech he wrote for the President to read as his State of the Union address. He also talked with Todd and Tyler about the Blue Collar Tour movie, which has been held up as talks about it’s release potential get sorted out. From the sounds of it, some of the powers that be want it to be released to DVD while others want to see it in the theater. I’m sure we’ll get more on the story as time progresses so stay tuned for more from the Cable Guy on the Todd and Tyler show.

Travis came in with today’s sports report. The guys spent some time talking with Attaboy about the $5000 per plate dinner that Creighton is putting on in hopes of raising enough extra cash to keep coach Dana Altman happy. The guys then played him the taped phone call from the cranked up Kingdom Come fan and spent a moment talking about the guy. From there, Travis discussed how he thinks he is bi-polar. Todd and Tyler opened up the phone lines at that point and took quite a few phone calls form bi-polar listeners who shared not only the signs of the disorder, but also the treatments they were each on. After hearing from all of those whack jobs, Travis didn’t seem to think he was quite as bi-polar as he initially believed.

Following the sports, TnT read yet another hate e-mail. This one was from a hemp-loving listener who agreed with TnT’s angry voice mail caller from earlier in the show. The e-mailer went off on a rant about hemp growing and how his buddy was busted for growing a couple of pot plants. He wanted to know why TnT never talk about those types of stories and but they do talk about dog humping strippers. TnT had to explain that the story of the dog humping strippers actually occurred and because it was in the news, that’s what they talk about. The tale of the hemp lover’s buddy getting busted for growing some plants isn’t big news and honestly, they don’t care one way or the other about it and therefore, they don’t bring it up on the show.

Later in the show, TnT brought Jessica Dol in to read over the e-news segment Brian had prepared for her to read. Because BW’s voice was still so horrible, TnT thought Jessica’s voice would probably sound better anyway. Jessica went ahead and delivered today’s e-news segment, which included a lengthy discussion about how BW doesn’t contribute to the Kazaa community, an argument about ‘’Designing Women’’, Jessica did a long list of celebrity birthdays, and she wrapped up today’s e-news segment with a story about a penis enlargement surgery gone wrong. Also during the e-news, BW shared a silly e-mail called ‘’the mathematics of life’’, which TnT sort of got a kick out of.

Well, the Todd and Tyler Traveling Dodge Ball All Stars are headed to Sidney tonight to take on the faculty and staff. JD from Down to Here the Beastmaster will be sitting in for Joe Blue House and James the Giant Peach, who are both out of town. Black Tony might not make it out tonight either because he’s feeling a bit under the weather. To wrap up their show, TnT brought in Jose. He read tonight’s dodge ball information in Spanish for all of the meat packing employees near Sidney so hopefully there will be quite a mixed crowd of backgrounds tonight. It should be yet another great dodge ball game anyway so make sure if you’re in the area that you stop on out for the event. We’ll have a full report as well as the ‘’N’’ awards tomorrow so don’t miss it. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
