TnT Show 02-19-2003

Wednesday 2-19-03

Todd and Tyler returned to the air this morning after a short vacation of combining last weekend with having Monday and Tuesday off. They began by each sharing various stories about their trips. Todd had a skiing trip to Colorado planned and after the snow fall last Saturday, he checked into Frontier airlines and found a reasonable rate to fly to Denver so he could avoid driving in the snow. The website for the airline showed a flight leaving Omaha at 3pm on Saturday but the booking agent he spoke to over the phone said that there was no 3pm flight, there was just one at 7pm. Todd went ahead and booked the flight and left for the airport. When he got there, he realized that the internet was correct and the booking agent was wrong. He missed the 3pm flight for the non-existent 7pm flight. As it turns out, the booking agent scheduled him a trip leaving from Denver to Omaha and back again instead of the other way around. Todd eventually made it to Colorado to ski, where he suffered altitude sickness because he didn’t have a pre-ski day to acclimate himself to the altitude.

Tyler then spent a few moments talking about his trip to Vegas over the weekend. The weather was great and Vegas was very cool but Tyler, too, ran into some travel troubles. When attempting to land back in Omaha, his plane shot back up in the air on its approach, effectively freaking everyone out. It turns out that the plane had to pull up because if it had continued, it would have flown into a flock of geese, which could have caused a crash. Tyler also said that he spoke with an Egyptian cab driver in Vegas that said he wanted Saddam dead, too. Tyler commented on how nice it was to hear someone from that part of the world agreeing with the views of most of America.

After tales of their trips, Todd and Tyler spent a few moments getting caught up with some of the news items that occurred while they were on hiatus. There was yet another story about a bust at Baby Dolls so TnT talked about dog humping for a bit. The guys then read over and discussed some new details from the paper about the Red Robin reach-around incident with the election commissioner and the city counsel member. Related to those topics, they took a few phone calls from listeners who wanted to welcome TnT back on the air and discuss the stories being bounced around.

BW came in a bit later with this morning’s news report. Before he began, he told Todd and Tyler about a near-death experience he had the other day. After a weekend of no sleep caused by continuous snow plowing, BW went out for a couple of drinks on Monday night. After getting nice and blitzed, he attempted a stop at an ‘’open late’’ fast food chain while on his way home. They were closed, however, so BW went home and decided to cook some food for himself. He tossed a saucepan onto the stove and filled it with some water and natural casing wieners. About 40 minutes later, he woke up on the couch to a house filled with smoke. He’d fallen asleep, the water on the wieners had boiled off, and the wieners themselves had burned to a crisp, effectively turning his house into a smoke-filled near-inferno. TnT discussed the tale for a bit, covering how BW was lucky to be alive, and then Brian went on to do the newscast. BW then wrapped up the news with a terrible kicker story about a dead 4-year-old that some freaks humped on, a story that led both Todd and Tyler to wish BW would have slept just 5 more minutes on the night of the wiener fire while the smoke filled not only his house, but his lungs.

After the newscast, Todd and Tyler fired up their connection to Dr. Ed in Tyler, TX. Before taking any calls, TnT thought it might be best to test the phone system with Dr. Ed because during the last few visits, the first couple of callers always end up not being able to hear the doc. Both Jeremy and BW phoned the show and attempted to get their calls on the air to test whether or not Dr. Ed could hear them but neither of the two yayhoos could figure their phones out well enough to actually get on the air. It was hilarious.

Eventually, the bugs got worked out and TnT spent several hours with Dr. Ed. The visit started off with a terrible story from both Brian and his buddy from Roman Coin Pizza. The two jointly told a story about a mutual friend of theirs that was being ridden by his girlfriend just before Christmas. During their ‘’athletic’’ sex, the guy’s throck slipped out and banged somewhere around the outside of the cave entrance before finding it’s way back in on the next downward cycle. Shortly after, the guy felt as though he was peeing and when he pulled out to examine the situation, blood was everywhere. The woman had broken the guy’s junk! BW and his Roman Coin Pizza friend gave further details about the incident, including covering the surgery to repair the guy’s throck and the misaligned head he now has after it was improperly sewed back on. It was probably one of the most horrible things I’ve ever heard in my life.

Following the terrible throck busting story from BW, Todd and Tyler opened up the phones. Listeners checked in with a variety of questions this morning including talk about speeders, heat strokes, nut boils, asthma, the thermodynamics of ass heat as it relates to chairs, blood doping for recreational skiing, scars on one’s penis after burning it with a smoke, and the logistics of bird fornication. It was yet another great visit with Dr. Ed this morning. Keep in mind that if you didn’t get the chance to speak with everyone’s favorite medical professional today, he’ll be rejoining Todd and Tyler in just a couple of weeks.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning. He didn’t give a commentary today but he did talk with TnT about the upcoming release of the Blue Collar Tour movie. From the sounds of it, Omaha is not one of the original 12 towns the film will be released in during the month of March but it is on the second list of cities it will be going to if the movie does well enough in the first 12 towns. Further details are sure to come up in the future so stay tuned.

Travis came in with this morning’s sports report a bit later in the show. He read over the topics of the day which included some NASCAR talk, Creighton coverage, and more. He also spent some time talking with TnT about his ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ commentary and feedback from earlier in the week.

Todd and Tyler kicked off this year’s Vegas Trip giveaway contest this morning by announcing the contest rules. The rules are quite similar to last year. Basically, after the TnT show you must listen to Z-92 for various songs that will be announced as ‘’Vegas Song # whatever’’. After hearing all of the songs for the day, the song # told to you by Todd and Tyler during their show, you have to remember the names and artists of all of that day’s tunes. Then when the last song plays, be the 25th caller and you will win a spot on the party plane to Vegas.

BW returned later in today’s show with the entertainment report. He read over a few stories before Todd and Tyler got off on a brief tangent about a list of the best movie moments of all time. Although the guys didn’t go over the list, they mentioned a few and said that they would hold off the entire list for tomorrow’s show. That tease sent my mind wondering for a bit as I came up with a list of my own favorite movie moments and blanked out the ongoing e-news from BW. Luckily, I regained focus just in time to hear Brian read a news story and obituary he wrote for himself as if he had really perished during the wiener burning incident that the gang discussed today. It was hilarious. There’s no way I can do it justice by reporting on it here so I’ll encourage you all to tune into the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and catch it. Perhaps, if we’re lucky, Todd and Tyler might replay the segment early in tomorrow’s show so all of the early morning listeners can get the chance to hear it.

Well, that about does it for the Wednesday update. Keep in mind that there’s no dodge ball game this week and remember that the Vegas trip giveaways start today and will continue for a few weeks. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and make sure to rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow at 5:30am for the Thursday program. They’ll be joined late in the show by Emo Philips from the Funny Bone. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
