TnT Show 02-25-2003

Tuesday 2-25-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing a variety of subjects. The ‘’friggin cold’’ weather, the beauty of Feb. in Omaha, and how the shelters are packed with homeless people came up in conversation. TnT moved on to talk about Channel 7’s coverage of Bill and Julie’s babies and how the couple not only has a nanny to help out around the house, but they’ve also got two college girls assisting them. Both Todd and Tyler agreed that they wouldn’t mind having a couple of college girls come over in the afternoons to help them out with various baby/child maintenance tasks but they realized that their wives probably wouldn’t go for such a proposal. TnT also discussed the upcoming dodge ball game in Hamburg, the second to the last ever.

Before beginning their newscast, Todd and Tyler took a moment to phone Darrell, yesterday’s Vegas trip winner. He told the guys he’s a Vegas virgin and isn’t sure who he will be taking with him on the trip, although after TnT hinted about him taking a buddy and getting some hookers, Darrell seemed to enjoy that suggestion. BW then came into the room to start the newscast and scolded Darrell for sounding so unexcited. TnT explained to BW that they had woken him up and it wasn’t that he was not excited about the free trip; he was just a sweepy wittle guy. Later in the show, TnT gave a few Vegas tune hints about today’s musical selections to listen for.

Brian fired up his newscast after some Vegas talk. The gang spent some time talking about how Pat McPherson has been charged for 3rd degree sexual assault after fondling the Red Robin mascot. They pondered whether or not he would end up on their sex offender registry if he happens to be convicted. BW also did a story about how bored kids in Omaha have gone on a pellet gun window shooting out spree because there’s nothing to do in town for kids. That led to phone calls and a lengthy discussion about how cruising should be allowed on Dodge Street once again. Also during the news, the gang talked about how there are too many handicapped parking spots being abused by fat people and the gang had a discussion about the best way to avoid getting eaten when attacked by an alligator.

After the news, Todd and Tyler continued their preparations for the upcoming Basketball Batchelor double date for Brian and Lester. They spoke to Deanne, one of the ladies that was kind enough to send in a picture of herself for the guys to examine. They also talked about getting a photo of another possible contender later in the show. Lester came in to examine the photos and seemed impressed by what he saw although from the sounds of the conversation, BW was being a bit picky. He didn’t want to commit to anyone who had already offered themselves up just yet, hoping to get more of a group to choose from as the week moves on, but Todd and Tyler gave him a hard time about being so selective. I’m sure the gang will continue discussing the Basketball Batchelor double date as the week moves on.

Gino from Come On Into My Kitchen Catering stopped by the studio this morning and spent the remainder of the show hanging out with TnT. He joined in on the topics of the day and shared a variety of stories with the guys about his former restaurant business, his current catering business, and during TnT’s conversation about things kids today do, Gino joined in with tales of his days growing up in Queens, NY. He also sang a tune for Todd and Tyler. By the way, if you’re looking for a caterer for anything, give Gino a call at 614-3235.

As mentioned earlier, BW did a news story about how kids with nothing to do are shooting out car windows. That story spawned a lengthy discussion about things TnT and the gang did when they were kids that kept them out of trouble. The guys pointed out that kids today have so much more to do like video games, the internet, cable television, all things that TnT didn’t have growing up, but even without such things to occupy their time, TnT, BW, Gino, Travis, and Jeremy all found things to do. The guys opened up the phones and took calls from listeners who wanted to share stories about what they used to do as kids to kill time. They received calls from both parents reminiscing along with the guys and current youth who talked about the things they do for fun now.

Travis came in with this morning’s sports report. He joined in on the ‘’things we did for fun’’ topic and from the sounds of it, he had a grand time growing up in Minden, IA. Several listeners who also grew up in that small town around the same time as Trav phoned in to disagree with him about how much fun the town was. Travis then did the sports report for the morning, which included his ‘’For What It’s Worth’’ commentary from last night’s KM3 newscast. The topics today included how the Tyson fight was a rip-off, the comment Crouch made about playing football in Canada was pretty silly, and how Toni Smith, some female basketball player in Division 3, should move to France. If you’d like to comment on any of that, you can leave Trav a voice mail at 493-2706 or send him an e-mail at travis@km3news.com or travis@z92.com.

Following the sports and before the e-news segment, the guys just seemed to banter back and forth about a variety of subjects. They touched on the upcoming dodge ball game again, they mentioned their upcoming Vegas trip once more, the guys continued reminiscing about their youthful days, someone dropped an ass bomb and nearly cleared the tiny studio, and TnT took a few random phone calls. One of those calls was from their old sales weasel Dan. He told them about a recent flight to Hawaii that was incredibly long, which spawned a discussion about the long flights everyone in the studio has been on. They later received a very informative call from a guy who used to fly the old Looking Glass plane over Omaha.

BW returned later in the show with this morning’s entertainment news. After covering a few stories, BW read over a list of the top 10 best football movies of all time. TnT made some guesses on various films and nailed most of the list and what they weren’t able to come up with, Brian filled them in on. He then wrapped up by doing ‘’Who the hell is that?’’

Following the e-news, TnT wrapped up their show with a few more phone calls. Once listener checked in and wanted to talk more about the military airplanes SAC flies over Omaha. The guys also took a couple of dodge ball related calls from listeners looking forward to their visit to Hamburg this week. During one of those calls, Tyler accidentally hit a hilarious sound effect button right after dropping a mom card on the caller. It was just one of those moments that couldn’t have been any funnier even if scripted. Although I haven’t had the chance to listen to the mighty Z since 10:30am today, I’m hoping to catch that clip as the promo for today’s show.

Well, that does it for the Tuesday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and make sure you rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow at 5:30am for the Wednesday edition of their program. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
