Wednesday 3-12-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning discussing a variety of topics. They read a hate e-mail from a listener who thought TnT were being a bit hypocritical in their decision to do the ‘’Married By Todd and Tyler’’ contest. The e-mailer cited TnT’s recent comments about reality television and how it’s becoming the downfall of primetime television. The guys said that their contest idea is sort of a play on the whole reality TV phenomenon and is being used to point out its absurdity. They then recapped the details up to that moment for the ‘’Married By Todd and Tyler’’ contest.

BW came in with the news a bit later in the show. The gang discussed a variety of stories including the upcoming war and the huge bomb that was just tested in Florida known as the ‘’mother of all bombs’’. They played a round of ‘’Where’d you eat?’’ Then, there was a story about a UNO party that recently got busted, which led to TnT sharing their own underage party drinking stories from their glory days. A few callers checked in on the subject and then TnT moved on. Also in the news, Dr. John was busted in Utah for selling porn and could do up to 5 years, there was some Iditarod dog racing chat, and BW grossed out Omaha with a comment about vagina scabs.

Two Abraham Lincoln students, Tiffany and Amanda, stopped by the studio this morning with ‘’Thanks for playing dodge ball at our school’’ gifts. TnT phoned the school to help get the girls an excused absence pass in case they are late, which they successfully procured. The guys then found out that the girls’ teacher was sitting in the car because she was too scared to come into the studio. They sent Jeremy out to try to drag her in but she wouldn’t join the guys in studio.

TnT continued the evolution of their ‘’Married By Todd and Tyler’’ contest. Some people dropped out of the contest already while other listeners, men and women alike, checked in for further details and to offer themselves up for the contest. Many of the callers today seemed most interested in figuring out exactly how they could go about getting a divorce after they return from Vegas. It seems that the lawyers from Cohen, Vacanti, Higgins, and Shattuck have offered up their services for free, which made the callers happy.

Travis came in with today’s sports report after being absent for several days. He began by talking about his recent St. Louis trip and the Creighton games before eventually getting into today’s sports news. Also during his visit, TnT phoned Trav’s wife to see if they could get permission for Trav to come out to Z Night at the Funny Bone with them this evening. They got the machine, though.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning with a commentary on the French and how French Fries have been renamed Freedom Fries. He suggested we check the Statue of Liberty for any Trojan Horse-like qualities. Stay tuned for more from Larry as the week progresses.

Todd and Tyler spoke to Steve Hust, tonight’s feature act at the Funny Bone. He’s an English guy that has been in with TnT in the past. He was just in Arkansas and talked to TnT about how the necks received him down there. Steve then told TnT he’s looking forward to come back into town so he can get drunk with Midget Brian. You can see Steve at the Bone tonight with Todd and Tyler, as they’ll be there this evening for Z-92 Night.

The guys also spoke to Funny Bone headliner Carl LaBove this morning. He checked in from California before his departure to Omaha. He used to be great buddies with Sam Kinison and shared a story with TnT about the good old days. He’ll be joining TnT in studio on Friday and said he’d share more with them then. TnT phoned yesterday’s Vegas trip winner this morning. He’s taking his wife and both of them have been to Vegas many times. Todd attempted to covertly ask the guy if he might know of anyone who could hook him up in Vegas but let the topic drop when Tyler gave him crap for trying to arrange such things on the air. That led to a phone call to Tyler’s dad to see if he has the ability to find someone to sell him pot. Unfortunately, he wasn’t home to participate in the test. The gang then gave a hint or two regarding today’s Vegas tunes to listen for.

Discussion about Friday’s ‘’Married By Todd and Tyler’’ contest continued later in the show with more calls coming in from interested potential grooms and brides. TnT also continued hammering out the details of the contest, working out logistical problems like making sure the contestants don’t run into each other in the hall Friday morning before they’re supposed to, and much more. The gang even has a caterer set up for the marriage, considering it’s Big Beefy Friday.

BW came in with the entertainment report towards the end of today’s show. The gang discussed how CBS is going to handle impending war coverage if it occurs during the March Madness tournament. Early MTV v-jays were then talked about and then the guys had BW read over the same story 5 times in order to allow Tyler to nail a ‘’penis in the hand’’ punch line effectively. It was hilarious. We also found out that Japan has basically banned the entire Rolling Stones catalog. There was some talk about Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s 18-minute dump on her cancelled TV show, which is being brought back for 6 weeks. BW also had a list of the top 10 most influential cars of all time. Pinto and Road Runner owners checked in to dispute the list. The gang then did an obscure dead guy of the day and wrapped up the e-news with a top 10 list of teen angst movies.

TnT spoke to Freddy Rodriguez, the make-up guy who works on the dead bodies in HBO’s ‘’6 Feet Under’’. They discussed the success of the show and it’s innovative approach to story telling, moving on to talk about some of the specifics of the show. He shared tales of the fake bodies used in the show, talked of some of the specific deaths each show starts with, and more. Freddy discussed the straight actors who play gay rolls in the show and how they deal with it and joked openly about the filming of a particular scene showing Freddy’s character’s cousin nailing some guy in the bum. TnT then spoke with Freddy about his summer projects, nearly ready to begin because they’re wrapping up filming of the 12^th of 13 episodes of ‘’6 Feet Under’’ for this season. From the sounds of it, Freddy’s character’s wife might be cheating in the future. It was an excellent interview for all of us ‘’6 Feet Under’’ fans. Freddy Rodriguez was great with Todd and Tyler. Hopefully we’ll hear from him again as ‘’6 Feet Under’’ evolves over the next few seasons.
