TnT Show 03-31-2003

Monday 3-31-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing a variety of topics. To begin with, Todd talked about going to see the Lancers play this weekend, stating that their double loss was ‘’further evidence that Catholicism doesn’t work.’’ Tyler then talked about how one of his favorite restaurants, the Red Rock, closed down. He was bummed because they had excellent fish and chicken and that he reason the place was closed down was to make room for another steakhouse. He ranted hardcore about ‘’yet another steakhouse to feed all of Omaha’s fat people’’ for a bit, pointing out that you could get a damn steak at Red Rock if you wanted one but now he has fewer choices to get decent chicken. The guys then moved on to talk about a Rolling Stone article centering on Great White which included a quote from a big LA concert promoter referring to Quiet Riot as ‘’dicks’’. TnT got a kick out of that.

BW came in with the news a bit later in the show. He read over a variety of stories for the guys, focusing at length on the topic of smoking. The subject came about after a story about how New York City has officially banned smoking anywhere indoors in the entire city. Everyone seemed to like the idea and pondered how long it would be before Omaha adopted the same sort of law, but they all agreed it would probably not happen soon here. They then played a round of ‘’Where’d you eat?’’, they talked about a sad court case involving a brother suing ‘’Great Clips’’ for charging him an ‘’ethnicity fee’’, there was more talk about the Great White article and the Quiet Riot dicks, and the gang moved on to talk about some of the golfing that was on TV this weekend.

Speaking of golfing, Todd and Tyler announced the details for their 10th Annual Todd and Tyler Golf Tournament. This year’s event is going to take place on Friday, April 25th at the Stone Creek course. The fee for playing will be $75 per person and you will be able to register at either of the Austad’s Golf locations in Omaha. Included in the registration fee is the round of golf, a cart, a Polo shirt, as sleeve of balls, and some lunch. As always, this tournament sells out at break-neck speed so make sure to get to Austad’s immediately to pick up your registration form.

The guys spent some time discussing the March Madness tournament for a bit, covering some of the games that took place over the weekend. The then announced that they are going to be appearing at Brewsky’s for the final game, which will take place next Monday. An official time hasn’t been set yet, as the two teams playing in the game have yet to be decided, but make plans to join Todd and Tyler out at Brewsky’s that day anyway. Stay tuned for further details.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in today and delivered a Dragnet-like commentary about the new federal airport security employees. It was pretty funny stuff and I’m sure it will be posted on Larry’s web site in the near future, Larry The Cable Guy. Stay tuned for more from Larry as the week progresses.

Travis came in with the sports report a bit later in the show. Even though he’s on vacation at the TV station this week, he’ll still be coming in daily for the TnT sports segment. Although he won’t be in tomorrow because he’s going to KC today to catch the Royals game and won’t be able to return in time (that dreaded 3 hour drive can kill a man, I’ve heard). Anyway, Travis did his sports report and during that time, he brought with him Coach Jim Flanery of the Lady Creighton Blue Jays team. The Lady Jays are playing Auburn at the Civic tonight at 7pm as part of the NIT tournament. The coach discussed his team’s progress so far, the tournament itself, and how different it is in coaching females as compared to males.

To wrap up the sports report, Travis read over a list of the best sports movies from Sports Illustrated magazine. This list was a bit different, though, because it broke up the movies based on the sports that the films related to. There was a best boxing movie, a best football movie, and so on. As he read through the categories and movies in each, Todd and Tyler discussed them. For the most part, the gang seemed to agree with the films that SI chose as #1 for their particular sport. And yes, ‘’Vision Quest’’ was indeed the #1 wrestling movie ever.

While TnT were out of town a while back, a Gay Rights activist appeared in the lobby of the radio station and was a bit pissed at something he heard on the TnT show. The guys mentioned this last week but filled us in on an addition to the story today. Evidentially, the man came back some time late last week and Jeremy met him. Although he didn’t confront the guy, he did call the front desk and get conformation from Hilary, the world’s smallest mammal ever to give birth, that he was indeed the same guy who threw a hissy fit before. TnT then took a few moments to point out that even though they occasionally make a butt sex or pole smoker joke, they’re the only show in town that actually acknowledges the existence of gay people. They also reminded everyone that they were anti-416 and they were integral in helping with an anti-protest protest against that hateful religious group from Kansas that tried to protest the funeral of a young gay man who was murdered.

The guys spent some more time this morning discussing the War in Iraq. They talked a bit of the coverage and then somehow got into a discussion about the exchange rate between the American dollar and the Iraq Dinar. Some listeners checked in with insight and we found out that the exchange rate is around 3 US dollars to 1 Dinar. The gang then morphed that conversation into a sound effects creation brainstorming session that concluded with the sound of a US Marine knocking on an Iraqi’s door, a screen door opening with Gene yelling ‘’Aim for my mouth’’, and following that all up with a rifle shot.

Mark Lundholm from the Funny Bone joined TnT in studio late in the show. He told the guys all about getting to see some of the titties of the Funny Bone waitresses this weekend and elaborated fully on a ‘’licking whipped cream out of Brook’s butt crack’’ story. He joined in on the topics of the day, too. By the way, you can catch Mark at the Funny Bone this evening for his special No Alcohol and No Smoking show. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations.

BW returned towards the end of this morning’s show with the e-news. There was some discussion as to whether or not BW could say ‘’ass’’ on the air while reading a sponsorship, something everyone got a kick out of. TnT brought in the sales lady who initially asked the question and basically asked her, ‘’Have you listened to this show? Did you think saying ‘ass’ would be a problem?’’ She then returned fire with a humorous, ‘’F-bomb you’’. The gang then discussed at length the movie ‘’Urban Cowboy’’ and it’s stage adaptation, there was plenty of talk about humping Cher, and BW read a variety of ‘’This day in history’’ stories before concluding with the ‘’Who the hell is that?’’ segment.

That does it for today’s update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of today’s show and make sure to rejoin the guys tomorrow morning at 5:30am for the Tuesday program. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
