TnT Show 04-08-2003

Tuesday 4-8-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with some talk about last night’s NCAA championship game, which they watched at Brewsky’s. There was an excellent turnout as Syracuse beat Kansas. TnT mentioned that their speed dater Paula seemed to have a good time with all of the guys who sat down with her throughout the night. They said they’d get a hold of her later in the show and moved on to talk a little about the war. From reports late yesterday, it’s possible that the US bombed a building that had Saddam in it, although there is no 100% conformation yet. The guys discussed the crater left by the 4 “Bunker Buster’’ bombs dropped on the area and speculated whether or not we’ll ever know if we got him.

Also early in the show, Tyler mentioned that while at his gym yesterday, a guy he’s seen many times but has never talked to walked passed him and said, ‘’Weak show today.’’ Tyler thought the guy was joking at first but the guy followed up his comment with ‘’Yea, it was kind of boring.’’ Tyler said he got a bit pissed off at the guy because he felt yesterday’s show was good, everyone having a great time throughout the morning. TnT spent some time discussing the various types of criticism they get, stating that such unconstructive criticism doesn’t do anything to help them better themselves. They continued the discussion later when Travis arrived, at which time the topic morphed into more of a conversation about the trials and tribulations of being in the public eye.

BW came in with the news a bit later in the morning. The guys kicked it off by mentioning an HBO special that is going to air tonight all about Crank in the Heartland. They talked about some of the video shown on the commercial for the show and urged everyone to watch the program. The news then moved on and the guys spent some time discussing fetal tissue research, SARS, and there was some more war talk about ‘’Bunker Busters’’ and Saddam DNA.

After the news, TnT phoned their buddy Virgil. He’s the 79-year-old man who is offering up $28,000 to any woman who will marry him. The gang discussed his story during yesterday’s show and phoned him to get further details. They checked in with him again today to see how his dinner date with a 35-yea-old lady went yesterday. Virgil told the guys that she made him chicken pot pie, they had a couple beers, and she’s got big boobs. He snuck in a few pecks on the cheek, too, but didn’t get any action. The guys then asked him about the 21-year-old who was supposed to be hooking up with him. Virgil said, ‘’That’s a little young. I don’t want to start another family.’’ He went on to say that he’s got two more ladies who are supposed to stop by for a visit today, elaborating further by saying, ‘’Big ass. Something to hold on to’’ when Tyler asked him if he liked big or little butts. I’m sure we’ll here more from Virgil as his quest for pie continues so stay tuned.

Following their talk with Virgil, Todd and Tyler got back on the subject of the war in Iraq. They spent some more time discussing comments made by the whacked Iraqi Minister of Information, enjoying the fact that CNN and other news networks are no longer giving him any credibility. Travis joined in on the discussion at this point and agreed with TnT. He, too, is getting a kick out of how nuts the guy is. The gang then discussed whether or not, after the 4 2000 pound ‘’Bunker Busters’’ landed on his head, there would be anything left to find of the guy after yesterday’s blasts. They joked about DNA testing Saddam’s mustache if it is found in the rubble filled crater. The phones lit up for a bit during this discussion, too. Several listeners who know someone over in Iraq fighting checked in to talk about their loved ones and what they’re doing.

As the conversation about the war continued, Todd and Tyler brought in CNN’s terrorism and military expert, Chris Osborne. They spent some time discussing the war coverage, asked about whether or not the journalists who are embedded volunteered for the gig, and they all shared more laughs at the expense of the Iraqi Minister of Information. Chris went on to tell about possible future problems in Iraq after the war, namely the remnants of those loyal to Saddam that might martyr themselves because after the war, everyone will know they were assholes and try to prosecute them for war crimes. Chris also talked about analyzing some of the recent video of Saddam that the Iraqis have sent to the media and speculated on whether or not Saddam was killed yesterday. It was yet another informative conversation with Chris Osborne. I’m sure he’ll be joining TnT on the air again in the near future so stay tuned.

Travis came in with the sports report a bit later in the show. Before he began, TnT mentioned that someone had e-mailed them a photo of Travis in his Capri pants from the Z Bash a few years ago. After looking at the picture, Travis said it was actually a shot of him at his family reunion in Colorado a while ago. He was a bit pissed that someone in his own family would turn on him like that but after finding out it was actually a buddy of his who sent TnT the picture, a buddy Travis just hung out with last night, he mellowed out a bit.

Also during the sports, TnT phoned the Syracuse to find out the origin of the school’s nickname, ‘’The Orangemen’’. After getting bounced around on the phone for a bit, they eventually ended up in the PR department. The lady they spoke to told the gang that although there is no official documentation on the origin of ‘’The Orangemen’’, rumor has it that the name came about after a track team won a contest long ago and because they didn’t like their blue and pink school colors, they opted for orange because it was the only color not affiliated with another school at the time. From that, ‘’The Orangemen’’ was born. Travis then joined in on TnT’s earlier discussion about being in the public eye, making the hilarious quote, ‘’(sad voice) I was just going to the Baby Gap to get my kids some clothes’’ after someone dropped an angry ‘’You suck Travis’’ on him at the mall.

Later in the show, TnT were able to get a hold of last night’s Brewsky’s speed dater, Paula. She told the guys she had a great time speed dating and plans to call a couple of the guys in order to arrange another meeting for this weekend. Paula promised to check in with TnT next week to inform them of how well the second dates go.

To conclude today’s show, BW returned with the entertainment news. The gang spent some time discussing the Dixie Chicks and how some small neck town’s city council wants to play their music during the intermission of their meetings. There was also some talk about Janet Jackson’s stalker, a guy who nobody in the room could blame. TnT then had a lengthy conversation about a guy getting busted for cheating on the British version of ‘’Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’’ by coughing. He was recently found guilty. TnT spent some time trying to figure out how he was pulling it off. That then led into a card counting discussion, with some callers checking in on the subject. On guy said he was busted for counting cards his first time playing over at the boats. Another guy, a former dealer, also phoned in to talk about he practice and consequences. TnT also had a gripping ‘’Press Your Luck’’ conversation, BW read today’s ‘’Who the hell is that?’’ and a few phone callers checked in with ‘’The Legend of Decabooder’’.

Well, that does it for the Tuesday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and make sure you rejoin the guys tomorrow morning at 5:30am for the Wednesday edition. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
