TnT show 04-17-2003

Thursday 4-17-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by complaining about the crappy weather lately. They’re both sick of the 40 degree temperature changes within 24-hours, like from yesterday to today. From there, they moved on to talk a little about some TV. Then, they moved on to discuss how horribly boring it is for them when their wives get together with their work friends and ‘’talk shop’’. That subject spawned some phone calls from male listeners who wanted to share the same feelings about their own wives’ shop talk.

Also early in the show, the guys had their annual ‘’What the hell is Pass Over’’ discussion, taking a call or two from listeners who filled them in. They also took a call from a guy who participated in the first Gulf War. His thoughts wondered a bit and he had to be bleeped a time or two, but he shared some interesting insight on the battlefield.

BW came in a bit later and delivered today’s newscast. At the start of this segment, the gang spent some time rampantly speculating on the cause of Channel 6’s slow deliver of the news. Allegedly, everyone at the station is allegedly banging everyone else, allegedly, and that makes for the awkward pauses and slow delivery. The gang then moved to discuss how cartoons suck now because they’re available 24/7, and that somehow spawned a discussion about John Sheuts from Channel 7 being Moses and obtaining the 10 Commandments by yelling, ‘’Jesus! Let me know!’’ for each of them. BW also did some actual news stories and with the exception of a lengthy conversation about the airline industry, most of BW’s stories this morning had something to do with police officers.

After the news, Tyler whipped out his latest copy of Men’s Health Magazine. In it was a list of 23 things a man can do to be his woman’s hero, as written from the female perspective. TnT started going through the list one by one, discussing each, and after a few minutes, they stumbled on to one that they seemed to focus on for the remainder of the show. The magazine said that a man should write a list of things he will not tolerate from his woman and when she does something on the list, he needs to point it out. Now it only took the guys a millisecond to realize that creating such a list in reality would be a very, very bad idea but that didn’t stop them from creating a virtual list just for the purposes of their show. Scattered throughout today’s program, TnT came up with their own suggestions for intolerable acts done by women and they also let the listeners check in with their suggestions. Such things as talking during a movie, never knowing where she wants to eat, and not shutting the hell up during Letterman’s monologue were among them.

Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey joined the guys in studio for a bit this morning. He didn’t seem all that comfortable joining in on their discussion of intolerable things women do so the guys switched gears. They spent their time with the mayor discussing the new arena, what the city plans to do with Aksarben and the Civic, there was some talk of the police chief situation, and they had an insightful conversation about the concept of occupational taxes. The mayor also took a lot of phone calls from listeners and spent some time discussing Omaha’s sister cities in Ireland and Japan; the one in Japan the mayor plans to visit in May. Although the mayor didn’t officially announce his plans to run for mayor again on the show this morning, he did state that he is raising money for a possible re-election campaign and he’s ‘’leaning in the direction’’ of running again. TnT will surely have him back in studio live for the official re-election announcement in the future so stay tuned.

Todd and Tyler went into their gas chamber again this morning after giving out today’s Coalition Artist of the Day. While in there, they farted out the number of songs you must listen for today and reminded everyone that you must be the 25th caller after the last song starts and name all of that day’s songs in order to win the $500 gas card they’re giving away. Listen all day for your chance to win and if you miss it, tune in tomorrow for another opportunity.

Travis came in a bit later in the show and joined in on the intolerable thing women do conversation. Listeners continued to check in on the subject during Trav’s time with the guys. Trav didn’t have a whole lot to input on the subject, though, and instead, he opted to talk more about sports than what his wife does to piss him off.

Kathleen Dunbar from the Funny Bone stopped in today and hung out with TnT for a bit. She lives in Vegas now so she spent some time talking with Todd and Tyler about what that’s like. She also joined in on the intolerable women discussion, poked fun at Travis for wearing girlie shoes, and seemed to have a great time hanging out with TnT. At one point, she even offered to wax and shave her pie in front of them if someone from the listening audience would deliver the equipment. Call the Bone Phone at 493-8036 for reservations to see Kathleen and Patrick Spring this week.

Bw returned later in the show with today’s e-news. During this segment, the gang spent some time discussing Brando banging his maid, Michael Jackson’s funky image and what they’ve heard he’s like in real life behind the scenes, and they talked about how Jerry Seinfeld is coming back to town in June to do another one-night show. TnT also discussed the dynamics of hillbilly-dom, BW read over today’s ‘’Who the hell is that?’’ and the guys wrapped up today’s e-news and their show by reading over a quiz about the year 1981, which they nailed.

Well, that does it for today’s update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and make sure to rejoin the guys tomorrow at 5:30am for the Friday edition of the Todd and Tyler show. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
