| Wookin Pa Nub ![]() ![]() | TnT Show 04-24-2003 Thursday 4-24-03 Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with some talk about last nights Z-92 night at the Funny Bone. They seemed disappointed in the turnout and said that they dont want to jointly promote events of this nature with Channel 7 or any of their sister radio stations from this point on. The gang then moved on to talk about how Crouch was picked up by the Packers, a much more financially beneficial situation for their new friend. TnT then talked about Travs FWIW last night, focusing on the Red Robin feedback. BW came in with the news a bit later in the show. During his report, the gang had a lengthy conversation about the man who was recently freed from a Council Bluffs jail after being imprisoned for 25 years. Evidentially, he is going to be prosecuted again. The guys spent some time discussing the sketchy details of the story, taking a call or two to fill them in on what they didnt know. From there, the guys moved on to talk about old men falling out of moving trucks, locally closing restaurants, pre-6am dumpster pick-ups downtown, the worlds smallest dog (smallest dog tiny puppy pinocchio at tinypinocchio.com), and the gang wrapped up the news segment with a heated argument about dirty assholes. BW claims that he never has skids and expressed his beliefs that if TnT do, they arent wiping up properly. TnT disagreed and went on a tirade about how BWs a puss. Trav joined the guys in studio for this mornings sports report. There was plenty of talk about Crouch going to the Packers during his visit with TnT. He also discussed his appearance on the Jim Fagan show on the AM last night, where Trav talked up the TnT show, backed Channel 3s choice to change the sports on their newscast, and faced Fagan for being a Channel 6 suck-ass. Travis also discussed the feedback to last nights FWIW after he re-read his commentary for TnT this morning. Dr. Ed joined TnT in studio for the first time in nearly a year. Hes in town for a conference and stopped by the station to say hi to his old friends. Dr. Ed just hung out and joined in on the topics of the morning, which included some discussion of SARS. Also during his visit, TnT played the Dr. Ray Romano clips for him, which he loved. They then filled Dr. Ed in on air locking by playing the phone call that described the act. It was great to hear Dr. Ed with the guys this morning but a nod must be given to the technology that brings the Dr. on with TnT every couple of weeks. He sounded as clear with them today as he does when sitting in his underwear and bathrobe in his Tyler, TX basement. Im sure well here from Dr. Ed shortly so stay tuned. Todd and Tyler spoke to writer Rick Riley this morning. Hes the guy who does the back page articles in Sports Illustrated. He spoke with TnT about how he chooses his topics and discussed some reactions famous athletes have had to his work. One such reaction was when Reggie Jackson nearly through Rick out of a private plane while they were flying over a Native American reservation. He went on to talk about how he once golfed with OJ, which led nicely into some talk about his new book, Whos Your Caddy? The book is about Ricks time being a caddy for a variety of famous golfers. He detailed some stories from the book, discussed nuts golf gamblers, talked about Donald Trump tossing $100 bills at people, and more. The book will be available on May 6th but in the mean time, check your SI for Ricks articles. He was awesome with Todd and Tyler this morning and Im sure well be hearing from him again. Shannon and Sean from the Funny Bone swung in this morning and spent some time hanging out with TnT. The two joined in on the topics of the day and seemed to have a good time being on the show. Remember, you can catch both Sean and Shannon along with Todd Barry at the Funny Bone all week/weekend by calling 493-8036 for reservations. Todd and Tyler spoke to Hugh Downs this morning. Hes coming to town for a speaking engagement with the Salvation Army on May 5th at noon. He spent some time talking with TnT about his career in broadcasting, touching on the start of the Tonight Show, his time on 20-20, and much more. He then talked with TnT about the changes in journalism, stating that he really thought the embedded reporters did a great job in the Iraq war. Hugh went on to discuss with Todd and Tyler some of the other changes in media in recent years. He seemed to agree that reality TV has run its course and said that some of the sensationalized news stories we hear about today seem to self ignite, causing them to get much more attention than they would have in years past. Todd and Tyler also spoke with Hugh Downs about the college that was named after him in Arizona, which TnT joked is actually the college Todd dropped out of. He also shared some details about his double knee replacement surgery 7 years ago. Hugh said he survived the procedure with morphine and said that with its help, having both of his knees taken out was not an ordeal. Todd and Tylers interview with Hugh Downs this morning was great! Im sure youll hear it on the Best Of in the future. Keep in mind that if you would like information on seeing Hugh speak for the Salvation Army on May 5t, information is available by calling 898-5906. BW returned later in the show with todays e-news segment. By this time, Dr. Ed, Sean and Shannon from the Bone, BW, Todd, and Tyler were all a bit giddy. It made for a hilarious e-news segment but with the exception of a story about a toothless Alan Thick and another about a man who stole a lobster, I laughed my way through the specifics of anything else said and therefore I have nothing to actually specify about this part of todays show. Well, that does it for the Thursday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay and make sure to rejoin TnT tomorrow at 5:30am for the Friday program. Thanks for watching. Good night. --Corby- |
