Wednesday 7-16-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by mentioning that Fleetwood Mac will be appearing at the new arena on October 9^th. They seemed excited about the announcement but were concerned that those in charge of the arena claimed that this show isn’t the big one that they had previously teased us with. TnT are still worried that there will end up being a country act opening the new arena. From there, the gang discussed the things that took place during yesterday’s Red Robin trial and took a few calls from listeners that wanted to weigh in on the subject. Todd and Tyler also mentioned how they think Trav has become too serious on his FWIW commentaries, something they discussed with him later in the morning.

BW came in with the news a bit later in the show. He read more details about the Red Robin trial, followed that up with a gripping story about how UNMC is going to change their name back to UNMC, and talked about more confusion surrounding the possible new amusement park in Council Bluffs. From there, the guys talked about a recent drunk driving crackdown, there was some Missouri river talk, and a conversation about a bike trail concept being shot down by an Omaha neighborhood. Following that, BW reported on some national and political news and then wrapped up the news segment with a story about a burglar that got his sack impaled on a the broken window he was trying to sneak through.

Dr. Ed joined Todd and Tyler after the news once the bi-weekly bugs were worked out of the system, that is. During his visit, he answered a variety of questions from listeners. Topics today included prescription meds, the shelf life of various drugs, dog hair in baby poop, gout and goiters, 28-day cycles, and razor pie and bleeding penis holes. The doc also shared his opinions on the recent Dusty Baker story as he, Todd, and Tyler had an interesting anthropological discussion about skin color and how it relates to geography. Dr. Ed will be joining Todd and Tyler again in just a few weeks so if you didn’t get the chance to phone him today, save your medically related question for his next visit.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning with a commentary on the “Hunting for Bambi” story BW reported on earlier in the week. There’s not much else to say about Larry’s call today so I’ll move on. Stay tuned, though, for more of the Cable Guy as the week progresses.

Travis came in with the sports report this morning. During his visit with the guys, he joined in on the topics of the day and delivered the sporting news. He also talked with TnT about their feelings of him being too serious lately on FWIW. Referring to how Travis sometimes rolls up his script and slaps his hand with it, TnT said Trav needs to chill out a bit and pick some more fun loving subjects once in a while. Trav then stated, ‘’I don’t pound it all the time”, referring to his script, but as you might imagine TnT took that sound clip and used it throughout the remainder of the show.

Sean Gnandt stopped by the studio for a visit this morning. The recent LA convert is on his way to a show in Missouri and thought he’d stop by and see how Todd and Tyler were doing. Sean joined in on the topics of the morning, discussed how things are going for him out in Los Angeles, talked with the guys about his acting class full of gay guys, and discussed hanging out on Venice beach and seeing famous people. Sean is going to be back at the Omaha Funny Bone in August with Medicine Hat so if you didn’t get enough of him today, you’ll have your chance to fill your brain full of “duck towards the nub” shortly.

Todd and Tyler’s comedian buddy Tammy Pescatelli talked with the guys this morning from California. She’s appearing on Leno for the first time tonight so she spent some time talking with the guys about her 9 months of preparation for tonight’s 4 ½ minutes of comedy on the TV show. She also discussed a recent trip to Kuwait to entertain the troops, mentioned she has moved away from the midget porn star neighbor, and talked about some of the past scheduling conflicts she’s had while trying to get on Leno. It was great to hear from Tammy again and nice to see she’s getting her shot on The Tonight Show. Tune in tonight and check her out. By the way, Tammy said she’s going to try to work her way back to the Omaha Funny Bone some time this fall or winter so stay tuned for details.

TnT spoke to former Ralston Ram and MTV host Brian McFadden this morning. He’s got a new job as the host of CBS’s “Cupid”, which airs tonight. He talked with the guys about how he was selected for the host job by Simon, the mean Brit on Fox’s “American Idol” show, before moving on to discuss how bitchy the two ladies featured on “Cupid” actually are. He also talked with the guys about why he left MTV as well as discussing his year and a half long relationship with a Hilton girl, rich out the ears because of her family’s hotel business. It was cool to hear from him again today and I’m sure TnT will talk to Brian again in the future so stay tuned. He may even join them in studio again when he returns to Omaha for a family visit later in the year.

Trisha Meuret from Channel 7 phoned Todd and Tyler today from outside the McPherson/Sigerson courtroom. She talked with the guys about the recent findings in the Red Robin case, discussed the wives of the two on trial being brought in, and talked about an in-court argument over “man titties”, which everyone found hilarious. We’ll here more from Trisha tomorrow so stay tuned.

BW’s e-news was infiltrated by Todd and Tyler’s conversation with Tammy Pescatelli, Brian McFadden, and Trisha Meuret so when he got around to doing the e-news, it was quite late in the show. He read over a couple of stories and then seemed to focus on an on-line web site that tells you your past life based upon your birthday. BW read over each show member’s past lives and we found out that Tyler was a Tai hooker bookworm, Todd was a Latin American drug lord drummer, Jeremy was a shy Australian woman, BW was a Yugoslavian poison maker, and Travis was a Bulgarian shoe maker on a boat. He then concluded the e-news and today’s show by quickly reading over a list of the top 50 teen idols, which caused an argument that will most likely carry over into tomorrow’s program.
