| Straight Pimpin ![]() | TnT Show 07-17-2003 Thursday 7-17-03 Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by discussing the weather. Even with yesterday’s heat, Todd took it upon himself (after a request from his wife) to hit the “jungle” in their yard with a hatchet and clear out some vines. After just 20 minutes in the sun and hating every second of it, Todd called it quits. This morning, he offered up a little sympathy for people like BW who are out on mowers cutting grass and chopping vines in the heat every day of the summer. From there, the guys moved on to a bit more Red Robin talk. That quickly morphed into a discussion about the ethics battle between KM3 and Channel 7 about whether or not to give the name and show the face of the teenage girl that was in the robin costume during Sigerson and McPherson’s visit to the Red Robin months ago. KM3 is showing the girl’s face and naming her while Channel 7 is not. TnT both seemed to like the idea of knowing what the girl looks like and they agreed that KM3 is most likely pulling viewers away from 7 by showing her. The guys once again pointed out their amazement at how idiotic it was for the accused men not to just pay their $50 fine and drop this story months ago. They opened up their phone lines and took some early morning thoughts from listeners that checked in on this subject and a few other local stories of interest. BW came in with the news a bit later on and reported on a body being found by the river, the Westroads mall “smash-n-grab” robbery that was featured on TV, the old Union Pacific trains being removed from the Arena development area, the story of the 87-year-old California man that crashed his car into a crowded market killing 9, and there was a story about a fat guy using the “I’ve got a small throck” defense in a case brought against him by a woman who said she saw his boner while he was at her home to do some repair work. There was also more talk of the Red Robin story during the news. TnT received a call from Fat Freddy and he told the guys that the group of people Sigerson and McPherson were with that night went by the nickname “The Monkees”, a name given to them all by a friend from Lincoln. TnT got a kick out of that and decided they’d whip out some Monkees music to accompany the discussion, which they played throughout the remainder of today’s show. And with the talk about a group of people being named something, TnT began to comment on how strange it was for a group of older guys to go by a nickname, as though they were in some sort of childhood club. TnT both recalled being part of named groups back in their younger days, Todd being in the “High 5’s” while in college and Tyler admitting to being part of “The Backseat 5” when in high school. Following the news, TnT played the latest production from their musical director Tony Bologna. This morning’s song was called “Free Dr. John” and as the name implies, it was all about Dr. John getting tossed into the pokey for selling legal, adult porn. The song, filled with sexy moans from hot-sounding ladies, was actually one of Tony Bologna’s best works thus far! TnT even went so far as to mention that they thought it was quality enough for their next Todd and Tyler Show CD. Travis came in a bit later in the show and joined in on the topics of the morning. He talked about last night’s FWIW on KM3’s 10pm newscast that was all about the ethics controversy about KM3 showing the Red Robin girl’s face while none of the other stations are. He went on to deliver today’s sports report and during that time, TnT were joined in studio by the hotties from the Omaha Beef cheerleading squad. They talked about a recent halftime production number from the movie “Chicago” that no one was able to see due to a lighting problem and then mentioned the big Beef game that’s taking place on Saturday night at 7:05pm. You can get tickets to the game through Ticket Masters or on the day of the game by going to the Civic. Todd and Tyler spoke to Trisha Meuret of Channel 7 this morning. She’s been in the courtroom every day during the Red Robin trial following things for her TV station. She checked in again today while on the way to the courtroom and during that time, she confirmed TnT’s earlier report of the Sigerson/McPherson group being referred to as “The Monkees”. She also went on to describe how she thought that the judge in the case is a bit tired of one of the defense attorneys, Mr. Lefler I believe is his name. She also weighed in on the ethics argument regarding KM3 showing the girl’s face and how her station is not. Before leaving, Trisha said that the case would most likely wrap up today but she’d check back in again tomorrow with more details about the case’s final day. A bit later in the show, TnT spent some time talking with BW about his upcoming trip to Sturgis for the big motorcycle rally. They also had the phone lines open and let listeners check in with Sturgis stories, too. After discussing many of the changes that have taken place regarding the Sturgis rally in recent years and how it has become more commercial and touristy, the guys replayed the early morning “Free Dr. John” song from Tony Bologna before moving on to the e-news. This morning’s entertainment report began with BW talking about the announcement of this year’s Emmy nominees. From there, the gang spent some time discussing dogs with people names, spawned by a mention of one of the best cartoons on TV, “The Family Guy”. During that conversation, Jeremy’s brain shut off and he uttered the following phrase while talking about dogs and talking dogs like the one on the TV show: “I’m licking my own balls!” He said it with such conviction that TnT took an immediate break and made Jeremy isolate the clip so they could play it throughout the rest of the show. As the e-news continued and Jeremy repeatedly professed “I’m licking my own balls!” , thanks to help from the hot-buttoned clip, the gang discussed a couple of Obscure Dead Guys of the Day, this morning’s “Who the hell is that?” list, and BW attempted to read over a list of quick facts and strange laws but it was quickly shut down by Todd and Tyler who quickly became bored with it. BW then wrapped up the e-news and today’s show with a heartwarming story about a woman that was in the hospital for badly scalding her hands. She wanted to have a cigarette and when she went outside for a smoke, her robe caught on fire when the cig she was smoking ignited the lighter fluid that had leaked out of her lighter and onto her robe. “She was toast”, said BW. Well, that does it for the Thursday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and make sure you rejoin Todd and Tyler tomorrow at 5:30am for the big Friday show. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
