Tuesday 7-22-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning with a little talk about the Vice President’s visit to Omaha yesterday. Stating that the VP raised over $400,000 during his $1000 a plate and $1000 a photo Republican whack-fest even though his speech was incredibly boring, they were amused at his reference to Congressman Lee Terry as “Terry Lee”. So, throughout the remainder of the show, TnT and BW reversed nearly every proper name mentioned. Also last night, Tyler watched the Blue Collar Comedy Tour movie and said it was quite funny. He enjoyed seeing TnT’s buddies on film. The guys then moved on to talk about some of the new photos of Kobe Bryant’s alleged victim that were sent to them via e-mail from listeners. One allegedly shows the woman topless swimming but TnT weren’t sure whether or not it was faked up or not. TnT then read a few e-mails and discussed Trav’s FWIW last night, which was all about the Vice President’s boring speech and how he screwed up Lee Terry’s name. After hearing Trav’s commentary, TnT decided that Trav is no longer a Republican; he’s a Libertarian.

BW came in with the news a bit later in the show. Discussion of the Vice President’s visit continued as the guys found out for the $1000 fee for each plate of food, all the donors received was some lousy meat balls and melon chunks. The gang moved on to discuss a recent rash of vandalism involving 185 cases of BB gun violence in Lincoln and there was talk of shots being fired outside Sokol (that crap better stop before the upcoming Misfits concert, damn it!). The gang then spent some time talking about a new controversy over a former Boys Town priest that was kicked out back in 1988. To wrap up the news, the guys discussed tongue transplants and web cams being placed on corn and grass.

Matt and Kelly from Cohen, Vacanti, Higgins, and Shattuck came in this morning and spent several hours hanging out with Todd and Tyler. Although they didn’t answer that many lengthy, boring calls from listeners about their messed up personal lives, they did join in on the topics of the day. There was some talk about the Red Robin trial as well as some discussion about the allegations against Kobe Bryant.

Trav joined the guys a bit later in the show. During his visit, he, Todd and Tyler, and the lawyers had a lengthy discussion about politics. It began with talk of the Vice President messing up Lee Terry’s name, which was Trav’s FWIW last night. “It was horrible,” said Travis. That eventually spun into talk about how TnT believe Trav isn’t a Republican anymore. Travis didn’t seem to offer up much disagreement on that one. Following that, Trav delivered this morning’s sports report, which featured a story about the WNBA, lots of talk about the Tour De France, and more on the Kobe Bryant story. That led Trav to a list of athletes accused of sexual assault in the past that eventually got the charges dropped. And also during Trav’s visit, he said, “Harder daddy, harder!” That clip ended up on Tyler’s hot-button computer and we heard it throughout the remainder of the show.

BW returned later with today’s e-news. There was some discussion about on-line music services, new gay themed TV shows soon to hit the air, and talk about a few upcoming films. He also read over more on the VH1 list of the top icons of all time. Then TnT took a call from a guy that said he had photos of BW’s sister flashing her boobs at a recent RAGBRI stop. He told TnT that he was going to develop them, scan them, and e-mail them to the guys. As you might imagine, the gang all piled on with Tyler taking the unbelievable point of view of a guy who has sisters of his own. He said he’d take the high road and not constantly bring up the fact that he will have seen BW’s sister’s boobs. No one was buying it from his mouth, though. BW then wrapped up the e-news with today’s confusing list of celebrity birthdays. He read all the names backwards as a nod to the VP’s reference to Congressman Terry Lee yesterday.

And while on that subject, before closing out today’s show Todd and Tyler spoke to Lee Terry. He has been on his way to the airport early this morning and heard TnT talking about the Vice President’s mix-up. The guys were able to get him on the air with them when he reached DC later in the day. Lee told the guys that it was kind of a bummer to have the vice president mess up his name but Lee seemed to not be taking it too badly. He put a spin on the situation in the media by stating that when Lee does official business, he bypasses the VP and head’s straight to the head honcho. Lee also said he’ll be having some fun with reversing the Vice President’s name, Cheney Dick, in Washington this week. Lee said he’d be back for most of the month of August and plans to attend the Z-Bash so when you see him there, its “Lee Terry” not “Terry Lee”.
