| Straight Pimpin ![]() | TnT Show 07-25-2003 Friday 7-25-03 Todd and Tyler started off this morning’s show with some more talk about the deaths of Saddam’s sons. The government has released photos of the two and after looking at the images on the paper, it was rather easy to see why the Iraqi people weren’t for sure whether or not the bodies were actually those of the two brothers. After all, the bodies were riddled with bullet holes and one guy had his mouth shot off. TnT did express their displeasure with the Iraqi people, though, referring to them as ungrateful sons of bitches and stating, “They’ll never believe us anyway”. The topic then branched off onto Trav’s FWIW last night, which was also about the photos. Trav didn’t want to see them. Following a brief discussion about Trav’s point of view, the guys moved on to mention their thoughts on how KM3 needs to bring back sports to break up the 30-minute newscasts with something a little lighter. They want the “fluff” stories KM3 does now to be eliminated and sports could be added back into the mix. Also early in the show, the guys talked a bit about the new arena. Evidentially, the question about who will have the naming rights has been cleared up a little bit. Cox has dropped out and from the sounds of it, it was over a dispute about who would handle the telecommunications hardware within the arena itself. TnT held off on further discussion until Roger Dickson, the guy running MECA, joined them later in the show. TnT then read over bits and pieces of a recent Rainbow article from the World Herald that was all about the woman that wants to rent a monkey for an hour. Her husband took out an ad in the paper asking anyone to help him rent a monkey for his wife’s birthday so Rainbow elaborated further with an interview. Taking a guy’s point of view, TnT felt sorry for her husband thinking that for 10 years now she’s been nagging him and on his case to rent her a damned monkey to play with. The guys attempted to make contact with the couple via phone but they didn’t have an answering machine. BW came in with the news a bit later in the show. There was more talk about Rainbow’s article about the monkey lady. Speculation began to flow about her real motives for wanting to spend an hour with a monkey, everyone guessing that she might be into monkey’s a bit too much. Later, TnT spoke to the 15-year-old boy, Skylar, that saved the 13-year-old girl that was drowning in a pool. You may recall the story from yesterday. Anyway, he told TnT all about the incident and what it was like saving the girl. TnT congratulated him on being a hero and said they’d hook him up with some Z-Bash tickets. BW later wrapped up the news segment with a heartwarming story about a man that died in his home and had his head and shoulders eaten by his dog. Following the news, Roger Dickson of MECA came in studio and spent some time talking about the progress of the arena. TnT continued with more talk about how Cox has pulled out of the naming rights issue. They discussed a variety of scheduled concerts that will be filling the seats, including Lisa Marie Presley, some country guys, and Fleetwood Mac (tickets on sale tomorrow for that one). Roger also talked with TnT about a job fair they are having this weekend. It takes place at the Scott Conference Center behind Aksarben on Saturday from 9am-5pm and on Sunday from 1pm-5pm. They’ve got over 600 part time jobs to fill so if you need a gig, go work for the arena. Trav came in a bit later in the show with today’s sports report. Along with sports, the guys discussed Trav’s thoughts on the photos of Saddam’s dead kids being published, which he covered on his FWIW last night. They also talked about the feedback he received regarding his thoughts on the Cardinal in Boston from a few nights ago. A lot of Catholics actually agreed with Travis. Also during the sports, former Husker and Heisman trophy winner Eric Crouch joined Todd and Tyler in studio. The remainder of the show was spent with Eric discussing his college career, NFL career, reasons he left the Rams and Packers, and dealing with crazy Husker fans. Throughout his visit, TnT played a few of the less harsh clips from bits they did in the past centering on Crouch; most of which he laughed at. They did not, however, play “Christmas at the Crouch’s”. On the other hand, they did bring out the old “Under the 10th Street Bridge” tune Eric sung and gave him a hard time about that. Also during Crouch’s visit, As mentioned, the remainder of today’s show was spent with Eric Crouch. TnT opted to eliminate the e-news today and just spent time talking with their new friend. They opened up the phone lines and let listeners check in with questions and comments for Eric and for the most part, everyone was nice to him. An asshole or two did slip in with “Where’s your balls” comments, referring to Eric not playing in the NFL, but TnT did a fine job of shutting all of that crap down. Well, that’s about it for today’s update. I know it’s rather short but Crouch’s visit took up a majority of the last half of the show. If you missed it, I’m sure you’ll be able to catch Crouch’s in-studio visit with TnT airing on an upcoming Best Of or on Sunday night at 10pm when today’s show airs as the 3rd Shift Replay. Check it out. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
