TnT Show 08-27-2003

Wednesday 8-27-03

Todd and Tyler started off their show this morning by mentioning that some Z-Bash pics have been posted on the web site. They were disappointed that no shots of exposed breasts were published but understood management’s reason for not allowing those photos up. They were also bummed that there were no pictures of the Z staff on stage singing with Poison. From there, they moved on to talk about poor ticket sales for the State Fair concerts, they discussed a little TV, and there was some more college football talk. The guys pointed out that the Husker backfield is mostly white this year, which they believe will be a problem for the Husker offence. The guys also spent a few minutes talking about the legal world and wondered whether or not lawyers could actively defend someone that they know 100% for sure to be guilty.

BW came in with the news a bit later in the show. He started out with a few child abuse and abduction stories and then moved on to some talk about drunk driver loopholes. BW also reported on a recent “off color” statement made by a firefighter guy in town towards a black woman that has him in some hot water. From there, the gang spent some time in the political world discussing the deficit and what got us to this point, there was another story about some caged kids in Phoenix, and BW read a report about how Tennessee has outlawed bad body odor in the workplace. And to wrap up today’s newscast, Brian reported on a heartwarming story about bunch of women that beat up a male stripper for having a small penis after he danced for them at a bachelorette party.

Carol Schrader stopped by the studio this morning and spent some time hanging out with TnT. She began her visit with some Spanish and later stated, “slick as Skeeter’s peter”, which was isolated and ended up on Tyler’s hot button screen for replay throughout the remainder of the show. Carol joined in on the topics of the morning and spent some time promoting tomorrow night’s Omaha Press Club roast of Congressman Lee Terry and his father. Todd and Tyler are scheduled to take part in the roast. I believe the event is open to the public but if you want to get a reservation for the dinner to follow, you must call 345-8008 for information. It was great to hear Carol back on the air with Todd and Tyler. She seemed to enjoy her visit this morning as much as TnT enjoyed having her.

James Martin Davis also joined TnT in the studio today. He spent some time talking to the guys about a variety of the cases he’s handling, including the antifreeze poison lady, the fast boat driver charged with manslaughter after a freak accident killed a passenger, and he interjected some thoughts on the Dr. Johns case. Davis told the guys he met with some people at the jail and hinted about TnT possibly receiving a call from Dr. John later in the day. Throughout his visit with the guys, James Martin Davis tossed out jokes, some good, others bad. He discussed how he gets cases as well as the types of cases he turns down. All in all it was another interesting interview with attorney James Martin Davis.

Larry the Cable Guy checked in this morning and delivered a commentary on that priest that went to prison for 130 counts of child molestation and was recently killed by another inmate. Cable Guy took TnT’s side on the argument stating that the guy got what he deserved but Travis, who came in studio to stick up for his point of view, argued back and forth with the gang again on the issue. Stay tuned for more from Larry as the week moves on.

When Travis stepped up to the plate to deliver this morning’s sports report, the guys spent some time talking about recent FWIW reaction, mostly focusing on the calls he received regarding his recent child molesting priest dead in prison commentary. When he eventually got into the sports, there was plenty of college football talk including some more chat about the Husker’s mostly white team. Travis also geeked out on the “Lord of the Rings” movie that was just released on DVD. Before heading out for the day, Travis spawned yet another argument centering around last night’s FWIW. He commented on how the schools are letting out kids early because it’s too hot. Everyone seemed to agree that school shouldn’t start until after Labor Day but Trav’s point of view was that kids should just tough it out and stay in the 90+ degree rooms and learn. TnT, on the other hand, were of the opinion that when it’s that hot in a classroom, the kids aren’t going to learn anything and should be sent home. Callers checked in later and most seemed to agree with TnT.

As promised earlier in the show by James Martin Davis, Dr. John phoned Todd and Tyler from the Douglas County jail around 9am today. He told the guys that he got permission to call them today after the ACLU and James Martin Davis had a little chat with the prison officials and discussed their reasons for not letting Dr. John phone the TnT show. While on the soapbox today, Dr. John snuck in a couple of jabs at the conditions of the jail. He stated that due to renovations taking place, the jail refuses to fix some equipment in the kitchen, the food is coming out with dirt from the construction zone all over it, there are maggots in a drainpipe, and the cloth used to clean off the plates in the kitchen is funky. The gang then moved on to discuss happier things such as Dr. John’s release date on December 21st. Before ending the call, BW did some quick math and informed Dr. John that he’s only got about 116 (I believe) days left in the pokey. Dr. John then went on to tell the guys how horny he is and joked about how he’s really looking forward to releasing some of that built-up tension.

BW returned later in the show with today’s e-news segment. The gang discussed how the brother on “Raymond” finally got his raise and will be returning to the show and there was talk about the Olson twins and their line of toothpastes. From there, the guys spent some time talking to bi-sexual women after a lady checked in and asked for advice on where to go in Omaha to hook up with chicks who dig chicks. Listeners phoned in with suggestions and TnT even got a few follow-up calls from bi-sexual women they have helped down the right path in the past.

Also during the e-news, Todd and Tyler spoke to their comedian buddy Jim Breuer. They began by discussing his appearance on “Icon” during their Metallica tribute and later detailed his Pay-Per-View project called “Heavy Metal Comedy”, which will begin appearing on cable systems in September for $4.99. Currently, Jim said that he’s working on writing a film as well as putting together a Comedy Central skit special. He also talked to the guys about “intellectual property” laws and how SNL owns his Goat Boy character. When asked about a possible “Half Baked 2”, Jim said that there is trouble in that department because the company who made the first film has moved and it’s a big confusing mess. It was awesome to hear Jim back on the air with Todd and Tyler. Hopefully he’ll tour again in the Spring and if he swings back through Omaha, TnT will definitely have him back on the show.

Following their conversation with Breuer, Mark Gross phoned the guys from LAX. He’s coming to Lincoln to perform at the Rococo Theater on Friday night before heading out for another gig in Austin, TX. He talked with the guys about the show and shared a tale about a buddy of his catching a hat tossed into the crowd by Cher. I’m sure we’ll hear more from Gross in the future so stay tuned.

After hearing from both Jim Breuer and Mark Gross during the e-news, BW didn’t seem thrilled about delivering any more stories so the guys pretty much wrapped up the show from there.

That’s the Wednesday update. Tune in tonight at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and make sure to rejoin the guys tomorrow at 5:30am for the Thursday program. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
