TnT Show 09-12-2003

Friday 9-12-03

Todd and Tyler started out their show on a bit of a down note this morning by announcing the deaths of both country music legend Johnny Cash and “Three’s Company” star John Ritter. After some discussion of their careers, the gang moved on to talk about an article in the paper centering on the changes KM3 has made and is in the process of making. Evidentially, Creature Feature has been killed, as well as a couple of other shows, but on the upside, Travis has a new sports show coming up that will air on Sunday evenings at 10:30pm. His co-host during the football season will be Tommy Frazier. Following some talk about the new Trav show, which won’t have his name in the title, the guys talked a little about their football plans for the weekend before diving into some talk about Trav’s FWIW last night, which was about “How safe are we after 9-11?” Neither Todd nor Tyler saw Trav’s point of view because they figured if they really wanted to know Trav’s opinion on the safety of America, they’d just ask him today.

Also early in the show, TnT spent some time talking about a few nasty video clips they saw. One was of a naked woman with a slug on her butt and the other was video of the pizza delivery guy that recently blew himself up in an apparent suicide. Talk of downloading such video clips led to a discussion about what various companies will and won’t let their employees do with their computers, a conversation that mostly centered on downloading porn. Callers checked in with tales of things they got fired for downloading.

BW came in with the news a bit later. Before he began, he told TnT about his day from hell yesterday, which included his truck breaking down, his clothes dryer belt breaking, and the water valve shutoff breaking on him while he tried to fix his toilet. After the sob story, BW delivered today’s newscast. The gang spent time talking about a North O. police shootout, the Arena’s Grand Funk opening, how the state fair sucks, Clinton’s upcoming visit to Omaha, and there was quite a bit of talk about Lester giving away pie in the afternoon. BW then wrapped up the newscast with a story about an Argentinean man that castrated a guy that sexually assaulted his son.

Todd and Tyler’s biker buddy Roz stopped by the studio this morning and talked with the guys about the culmination of this summer’s motorcycle raffle. The Tommy Craft Memorial Poker Run is to take place on Saturday beginning at the Anchor Inn with a 10am sign-in. They’re then headed all the way to Soldier, IA before returning to the Anchor for the raffle and the party. 3D and the Fish Heads will be performing and the Anchor has acquired a 50-inch TV to show the Husker game that night. It should be an awesome time so make sure to join Roz down at the Anchor for her poker run on Saturday.

Travis came in a bit later and spent some time talking to the guys about the paper’s article centering on the KM3 changes. He discussed briefly his new upcoming TV sports show with co-host Tommy Frazier and explained why he didn’t want his name used in the title of the show. And while on the subject of KM3’s changes and their affects on the ratings, TnT analyzed the “lazy thumb” theory posed by a caller. Travis later did sports and provided his Lock of the Week, which is South Carolina getting 14 at Georgia.

Todd and Tyler spoke to actor Bruce McGill this morning. Many of you would recognize him as D-Day on “Animal House” as well as countless other rolls. He talked with the guys about how he got the infamous roll, described actually reading the script while in the unemployment office line, and told TnT that he only ended up making $5,500 for the part, which is just amazing. He then played his throat for TnT as he did in the movie. TnT really got a kick out of that. Bruce went on to talk about being down to earth with his fans, realizing that the D-Day roll is part of what made him famous. He then went on to talk at length with TnT about many of the other rolls he’s done over the years before diving into his new roll in the new Ridley Scott movie also staring Nick Cage called “Matchstick Man”, which comes out today. Bruce McGill was incredibly cool with TnT this morning and seemed to enjoy talking with the guys. Perhaps we’ll here more from D-Day in the future so stay tuned.

A bit later in the show, Todd and Tyler spoke with legendary actor, painter, sculptor, and opera singer, Paul Sorvino. One of his more recognizable rolls came as the boss in “Goodfellas”. He spent some time talking with TnT about the roll, discussed how real life mob guys dig him because of it, and then moved on to discuss a variety of other rolls he’s had over his amazing career. Later, he talked with the guys about his painting and sculpting as well as his opera singing, which he did a little of for TnT today. Paul is in a new movie called “Mambo Italiano”, an Indy comedy that might eventually make it’s way to Omaha. Paul’s next project is to do a King Lear interpretation he has written which will also star his daughter Mira, who won the Oscar for “Mighty Aphrodite”, the Woody Allen film. Paul was a great interview and if you happened to miss it this morning, tune in over the weekend for the Best Of and Sunday’s 3rd Shift Replay of today’s show.

Mary Ellen Hooper from the Funny Bone came in this morning and spent some time hanging out with Todd and Tyler. She discussed her wedding and how it was filmed for TLC’s “The Wedding Story” show. She also talked a bit about her friendship with Brooke Shields. A bit later, she got into it with BW about her vegetarianism and Mary Ellen spent the remainder of the show (during the e-news) giving Brian a hard time. It was quite funny. Also during her visit, her mother phoned her cell phone to inform her of the death of John Ritter. TnT phoned Mary Ellen’s mother back and put her on the air for a chat, which was pretty funny. You can catch Mary Ellen Hooper at the Funny Bone all weekend by phoning 490-8036.

BW gave this morning’s e-news segment to wrap up the last portion of the Todd and Tyler show. As mentioned, Mary Ellen Hooper gave BW a hard time throughout the e-news. BW retaliated with a story about Cambodian dog eaters, which led to some phone calls from listeners who have actually eaten dog before. The news continued with talk of Tommy Chong getting 9 months in prison and a $20,000 fine for selling bongs on the Internet, a couple of dead guys, and finally a tale of a fat chick that went in for a C-Section and turned out not to be pregnant. She did, however, give birth to “a bowl of jelly”, according to Brian.

Well, that does it for the Friday update. Tune in Sunday evening at 10pm for the 3rd Shift Replay of this morning’s show and make sure to rejoin the guys on Monday at 5:30am for a new week of programming. Also keep your eyes out for both Todd and Tyler at the Husker game on Saturday. They’ll be one of the few football fans not wearing red. Thanks for watching. Good night. -Corby-
