Everytime I hear Todd and Tyler talk about the FCC, I get pissed. What happened to the principles of free speech? I am the father of 3, and I regulate what they watch. If I say don't watch that, or listen to that, they listen. I've never once thought about complaining to a network about content they aired, because I am a responsible parent and don't need the government or bogus companies like the PTC to complain to anybody for me. I think that to every one person who gets a 'Decency alert' from the PTC and complains, there are THOUSANDS who either take part in the children's lives and can handle it, or are not themselves personally offended by the content.

Which bring me to my point - what can I or somebody do? I think if somebody started a website and send out 'Free speech alerts' to all the congressmen and senators when decency alerts are sent out, and got the number of people that I know would readily accept such a scenario to sign up, I personally think that it would far outweigh what Citizens for Decency or PTC or any other group could do.

Or am I being naive?

Your government thinks that the people who respond to their offices complaining about the indecency on radio and TV represent the majority. Therefore they sit there in thier high and mighty seats of authority thinking that the common man (ie.. you and I ) are unable to think for ourselves. So they drum up rediculous laws and froth up the watch dogs who represent the borderline insane to 'watch over us and protect us' from all that is evil. Instead they should turn the mirror around and take a good hard look at themselves and their own insecurities and who they are really trying to protect.....their own lives and jobs. So continue the good fight my brother, continue being the good parent that censors what your children hear or watch, because its the 'right' thing to do!

Is it a coincidence that the head of the PTC has Ann Coulter books in their office? Nope. The PTC claims to be a 'bi-partisan' effort. Yeah...my ass it is. Name me a liberal member of PTC and I'll name you a conservative member of PETA...it isn't happening.

I believe when all this started with Janet Jackson,something like 150,000 complaints came in to the FCC. The problem with this is the action they took.Because that amount of people is only .5 of 1% of the population.I just don't get it

Regarding the FCC, I don't care if they regulate the airwaves with whatever they think is fair or moral. Its just that they waste a lot of time and money defining their own standards, and none of it applies to satellite or cable.

How can you have it both ways?

when are these losers going to realize the more they bitch about content, the more it's going to raise the ratings of whatever it is they are bitching about?

Case in point, I was watching the E! True Hollywood Story on Married With Children and the show talked about some mom who got her panties all tied into a knot regarding the show and raised holy hell about it's content and got major advertisers to pull their commercials. Well, thanks to the publicity (sp?) the ratings went through the roof and the major advertisers were knocking the door down to get their ad time back.

This coming from a 'moderate GOP'er', change the damn channel if something offends you.
