Does anyone remember the Nebraska State football team that they made up in the past? I remember they had a whole day devoted to coming up with the team name, quarterback, and schedule. They were even flirting with making t-shirts. I don't remember much, but want to develop the goldenrods on my NCAA football for XBOX and I need ideas for roster names and schedule. Does anyone remember anything about the GOLDENRODS?Post away

I want to create this team so I can play one game every sat. and have the goldenrod results to see how the boys from Nebraska State do.

I know I'm digging deep, but I was just curious on if anyone remembered anything that I'm forgetting. I seem to recall them giving them a hometown for the home games, but can't remember what town.

It was a town way out west,I believe.I know that doesn't help much,but.. B)

I thought of making TnTU shirts with a 'Property of Nebraska State Goldenrods' lettering on them. With a long gold bar across the chest.

This is actually a good thread for part of 'the show', so I'm going to move it up there.

Thanks Dave. I was hoping that someone from the show would read this and either have a bong flashback or just plain remember and help me out (wink wink). My goal is to get all the info and make the team on my xbox. I want to post the goldenrod schedule and results every saturday after I simulate their games. Just something fun.

The town was Long Pine, NE. Some of the players were Neil Inmashit, another with the last name of Cutchacocoff and other names that they would get in trouble saying on the air today. There was a website selling NE State shirts and sweatshirts.

I'm racking my brain trying to remember the players names that Donnie came up with. Some of them were just hillarious. Another's last name was Fucfac`e.....he was supposed to be French I think. I'll try to keep thinking of more throughout the day. I remember they posted all the players stats at the end of the 'season' on their old website.

Fu'kface was the best but had to be killed off. Donny had the Xbox games on VHS and thy were played on the big screen at Brewsky's prior to Monday Night Football.

Seeing Fu'k Face on the back of the quarterbacks jersey at Brewskys on the giant screens, while funnier than crap, earned a handful of complaints from a few families with little 'hooked of phonics readers' in the the establishment.

Do you remember anything else about the team or could help me locate the VHS or something. For some reason I really want to resurrect the Goldenrods for the 2005-2006 season.

This is what I remember: Nebraska State Golden Rods-
Head Coach- Harry Balls
Location- Long Pine,NE. pop. 114
Stadium- 78,000 James T. Carley Stadium(my uncle)
Team Colors- Yellow and Blue

The players were a mix of the kids of former NFL- all-stars and stupid names that sounded- or looked dirty. I'll check and see if I still have the original rosster somewhere. I still play with the Rods- on my PS 2.

Some of the players I can remember off the top of my head-
QB- Jimmy Marino
FB- Jim Dick-Face
DE- Hay Wudjablowme (he was Hawaiian)
DB- Marcus Fukface (pronounced fook-faa-chee)

Tyler was a 5'6 420 lb. black lineman-
When we would watch the games Tyler would sometimes do Play-by-play over the mic at the bar- his favorite line when #99 tackled the QB was 'Wudjablowme on the sack!'

I'll check back with more info as I find it.

Thanks for all the backround, I'll start to develop the team tonight with the coach and some basic players. If you could get me the roster and maybe some more info that would be great. Thanks for all your help. Do you remember some of the teams that they played against?

Ob1- No i don't remember the exact time I do remember that it was a while ago. maybe someone else can narrow the timeframe for you. All I remember is that I wanted a goldenrod t-shirt so bad. I have a buddy that works at the sports store here in town and may be able to make one for me. A porperty of Nebraska State Shirt would be sweet.

I don't even remember why i thought of it, I just was playing NCAA 06 and thought of creating the Rod's again. It all kinda snowballed from there. Ever since I got the game, i've made it a mission to dig up the Rod's archive and get the backround.

Boobear- Are you a fan of the rod's :laugh:

Of course I do. I have every color, size, texture and flavor of Rod. I don't just stop at the face. I paint my entire body. I usually like 3 or 4 overtimes but I take what I can get. As for Butt Plug Mic and I, we use our time in bed for other things. ;)

i wanna say it was 3 or 4 years ago, they only did it for a couple of years. i remember the first time i met the guys at a live event at brewsky's for mnf there was a guy there selling t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. i still have a shirt and there is still a bumper sticker on the wifes van. maybe i'll wear the shirt to free bash this weekend. the guys had a live event at the haymarket brewsky's in lincoln and the business i was managing at the time was the 'corporate sponsor' of the Goldenrods game. for some reason the tape didn't work though. hopefully Donny will be able to remember more.

I saw the ps2 game the MNF a couple a years ago when the Steelers lost to the Patriots (the year the Pats didn't make it to the playoffs). I believe Tyler was smashed, and both Todd and Tyler left early, but maybe that was part of the deal.

Donnie was always left to stick around and hang out with the drunks.
