TnT gay discussion

I sent this up to the guys to see what they thought on it. Let's see what you guys honestly think on it. Let's try not to blow up on the boards spouting hate on the subject though.

Do you guys think that maybe society is part of the problem? I mean think of it this way in ancient Greece and Rome homosexual relationships were very common, and actually encouraged. It was common practice to indulge in sex no matter the partner. If that mind set was the same in today's day and age, would more people be open to it? Would more people be involved in 'Gay' relationships?

Re:TnT gay discussion

Actually the gay talk was very good. But I really hate the callers that throw God into the gay talk and say it is a choice or free will.
I have a cousin that is gay and everyone knew from the age of 5 that he was different. He didn't even know what gay was just that he wasn't 'normal'.
Also last week we had a gay speaker come to my race relations class and speak to us about being gay. He said that some people think that if they have a heterosexual lifestyle that the homosexual feelings will disappear - they don't - then they end up being 40 and coming out of the closet. Being homosexual is also more acceptable now than it was 20 years ago.
Personally I like MEN. But why should what we think effect anyone's sexual orientation. What someone thinks or feels is none of my business. I could care less what someone’s sexual orientation is - that doesn't make a difference to me - I care more about what kind of person they are.

Re:TnT gay discussion

You know it is funny, I am not big on the word gay or homosexual. When I refer to friends of mine that have a different sexual prference than I do I don't point it out. I don't say 'my gay friend' or 'I have this friend that is gay' I just say 'my friend'. We use descriptive terms when descibing people when it comes to race, why would you use them when describing sexual orientation? Think of it if you say my gay friend, although descriptive, you wouldn't be able to pick the person out of a line up. Always found that interesting.

Re:TnT gay discussion

Cyber - I used the words 'My cousin who is gay' because it describes who he is. I never refer to him as that unless we are talking about the gay lifestyle and I use him as a reference to explain how I know what I do. I also don't refer to my friends by their race, unless I am talking about something to do with how their race has effected them - descrimination or bias.

Re:TnT gay discussion

Yea wasn't really using ya as an example, I just always found it interesting how people feel the need to describe people when it is not necessary to. I am the same way as you when it comes to this. Course when I am at the bar and hitting on some hotty I'll be sure to use descriptive terms about my friends, like geek in the corner, or 'yea he is a gay' (about my friends who are not), lol... joking.

Re:TnT gay discussion

My opinion on the intolerable people who won't try to expand their minds for on second.

You can't have a civil conversation with these narrow-minded bible thumping degenerates. They do not have one valid point.

First attempt: 'Because God/the Bible says so.' Great. Wasn't one of the reasons people came to this country and stole land from the Native Americans was for....Freedom. Not just freedom, Religious Freedom. So, we can have freedom but we just have to do it the right way.

Second attempt: 'Protect the sanctity of marriage.' I have never been married. *Knocks on wood* So I don't know what the hub-bub is all about. Just a question; We have 'Drive-thru' wedding chapels, people getting married for hours, that's right hours not days, people getting married on 'reality' T.V. for money and 15 minutes of fame and the classic 50% of marriages ending in divorce. Is there really such a thing as the Sanctity of Marriage?

Ignorance is bliss, isn't it.
