| Gangs So, the guys are talking about gangs/joining... I was never part of a gang but had been witness to my share of gang initiations. A lot of which were when I was fifteen (sophmore year). So, the one I really remember is a friend of mine was going to join a samoan gang...When you joined this gang you had to walk the line. The initiation was done during a break between classes at school. The area I hung out at was right next to where the samoan gang hung out and everyone always had fun. Well as usual you could tell something was up because the gang was quiet and looked like they were hanging out but they were hanging in a walk way and people on either side of the walkway. The buddy of mine comes walking up with the gangs "leader"...Then they stop and the "leader", we'll call him "Talofa"...asks my buddy if he is sure...he nods and Talofa looks at the guys...my buddy proceeds to walk down the line and people beat on him. You are not allowed to fight back and you have to make it to the end of the line...it took a while and he was bloodied and swelling...he made it through and everyone shook his hand and his brother came over and hugged him and everyone was proud...the second part of the initiation was jumping a rival gang member...that happened the next day... The gang fights were always a trip to watch. The Filipino's always had knives, guns...things of that nature and the Samoan's had their fists...every once in a while a chain or a belt would show up but, it was fists 99% of the time...

| Re: Gangs Where was this? The first time I ever realized they do such a thing was in the movie "Colors" (good f'in movie). After I knew though I saw it happening often on the mean streets of Columbus. Of course the beatdowns were administered by wiffle bats and open-handed slaps, we didn't get too hardcore in the "C", that would have just been rude.

| Goes down smooth. ![]() | Re: Gangs I never really thought about gang activity in Omaha. Thinking about the bloods or crips in omaha to me was like thinking of the KKK starting a chapter in Africa. |

| Re: Gangs I met several gangsters at the OCC (Omaha Correctional Center, just south of Eppley Airfield) during a field trip in one of my high school classes. We also got to tour parts of the facility, and walked out in the yard a bit, too. And that's why I have little to no respect for my high school (for allowing that trip)...friggin' idiots
