Political Parties

I know we already have a thread for this but wanted to have all the information on one page.. Thank you Megan for all the work you did...

In the state of Nebraska, we are dominated by Republicans which means that rarely does a Democratic canidate win an election here. So here is my pitch:

I am asking that all independent and democratic voters change parties to republican for the primary. Please do your homework so that the lesser of evils will be elected to run in the gubernatorial election down the road.

Changing parties is easy to do. Here is the step by step guide to doing it:

#1 Go to http://www.sos.state.ne.us/forms/pdf/vr.pdf and print out the form.
#2 Fill out the form.
#3 Either fax or mail in your form.
#4 Receive your Republican card in the mail.
#5 Vote at your designated polling place
#6 Go to http://www.sos.state.ne.us/forms/pdf/vr.pdf and print out a new form.
#7 Change back to your original party in the same way that you switched to Republican.

I am not a Husker Hater by any means. I was born and raised here in Nebraska. However, just because you can coach a football team does not mean that you can run a state. If Tom Osborne is elected I see it as a major set back for the state. I know that other canidates that are more progressive have plans to help our state grow.

The majority of college graduates here leave the state for more urbanized cities. I would love to see Omaha, Lincoln and other cities in the state thrive and give people a reason to live here. Omaha is becoming a wonderful place to live. The Qwest center has been a wonderful addition to the city's economy. I believe that the rest of Nebraska can find progression also. I look at what the current governor has done for farming with trades with Cuba for instance.

I hope that I don't sound like I am standing on a soapbox preaching. I am trying to stimulate the minds of the voters in Nebraska and ask them which direction they would like to see this state move in.

Best Wishes and Vote with your heart.

Re: Political Parties

The last day to mail in your registration is April 21st - it has to be postmarked no later than the 21st. You can however walk in and register until May 1st - But I wouldn't wait that long as they are expecting a lot of people to show up on the last two days. Print out the registration form that Meghan linked to - fill it out and drop it off. You can also vote absentee ballot and register in person at the same time.

Below are some links that may help you find any information that is not listed here.. If you need to call to find out where to vote or where to register to vote the website below might help..
State of Nebraska Elections Website
Sarpy County Elections Website
Douglas County Elections Website
Washington County Elections Website
Dodge County Election Website
Saunder County Election Website
Cass County Elections Website
Lancaster County Elections Website

Re: Political Parties

I am wondering how many people know the candidates and made their own decision and how many are just zombied to think what TNT are saying. I don't agree with any of them on all of the issues. I have listened to all of them so far on the debates. I don't think any 1 of them is that great or that bad. Plus, no politician has "Saddam" power to actually make any huge differences without the approval of the people or the unicam.

I really love the lead up to the elections when people who have no idea what is going on parrot what they heard someone else say. (Not saying this to anyone directly, just been hearing lots of people this spring with these qualifications).

Did I just hear MMM on TNT? And did she just admit to peeing in the shower?

Al - If people just did what Todd and Tyler said then there would be no Husker Fan Base like their is.. You said that you have listened to the debates.. Dave Heinemam has taken a stand on the school issue, on conclude weapons and many other issues, I have yet heard Tom Osborn take a stand on any issue. He is running on his name and the fact that he was the coach. Heinemam had been the governor - Nebraska is doing well.

Re: Political Parties

I myself won't be changing from independant to Republican next week, but for other reason's than I don't want to. I care about Nebraska as a state because I am from here. It does not in the least bit surprise me that T.O. is going to be governor, and it shouldnt surprise anyone one else when it happens. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Governor Heineman, but I have had the measure of meeting Lt. Governor Sheehy just this prior week and Ben Nelson a few weeks ago. I remember my mother often saying to me "If it ain't broke, don't try n fix it". As far as Ben Nelson, I think he has done an outstanding job as a senator which is why I have offered him my support in his campaign. As for Gov. Heineman, he hasn't been in office long enough for me to have a firm opinion, but I do know that I do not want/and will not vote for T.O. I always thought the idea was to move forward...putting him in office is NOT going to allow that to happen. This week I will be contacting Mr. Sheehy to offer my support to Gov. Heineman in anyway that I can towards his race. I advise that all poeple don't just "talk about it..but be about it."

Talking Re: Political Parties

I guess I should introduce myself, being that I have never really posted anything of substance on here. My name is Kimara. If you listen to the show regurlary I have called in and also had the pleasure of appearing on the show for a round table discussion (yes..I'm black). It's good to see that this board has some substance to it, not that I ever thought it wouldnt.......
