Although we haven't heard the guys tease him lately about the "big money" Travis makes at Channel Third, evidence to the contrary has appeared on the show.

A week or so ago, Todd and Tyler were giving Travis crap about getting his "welfare check" (stimulus package refund) from the IRS, and how Trav was to rake in over $2000 in welfare for all the kids he's fathered.

Assuming that is true, that would mean that Travis' IRS reported incoming is less than $150,000 a year (filing jointly), as that is the limit to receive the "welfare check".

Holy shiite, you'd think JBG would throw him a bone! No wonder they like to keep him on the air 24x7, he's cheap!

Let's say he works on average 9 hours a day, 6 days a week (which would seem about right since he has to work weekends sometimes, do the news, do Perrault's show, make an appearance on the Todd and Tyler Radio Empire). That turns out to be about $53 an hour, if he made the high limit of 150k a year.

Is Trav worth more than this?

According to those who report in at payscale dot com, the median salary for anchors with 20 years or more of experience is around $74,000.

Based upon this and the versatility of Trav when it comes to various jobs, I'd say he's worth what they are paying him if it's between 90 to 125 G's per year.

...and that's for what it's worth.

Did Trav say anything about a new car/truck on the show? I live near him and drive by his Mansion everyday on the way to work and there is a new white Ford truck in the driveway.

As a former member I am not positive on Trav's money. However, let me assure you noone at JBG is making decent money- on air people make less then nothing. The money to be made is in sales, and even then it's hit or miss. $500,000 is a gag, TNT make less than that, together. I do agree Trav does work his butt off, however sometimes he's been known to vol. for things to make himself more visible, that's part of the business.
VERY VERY Important- Just because you see someone on TV does NOT mean they are rich and make a lot of money. Radio is famous for paying low wages and then spiffing the jocks with free tickets or extra cash working live remotes, and the mang. says "See how much you made at that gig" ,"there's your raise". Although none of this is consistant $ and is the main reason people leave radio.
Long live TNT and here's to trav and his amazing run on the show- he's deserves every plug nickel he can get from the boys up in Wiscon-stein.

One little problem with your theory Dave. It is actually $150,000 a year - Adjusted Gross Income - AGI is all taxable income MINUS IRS-allowed adjustments to income - which are things like IRA contributions and tuition and fees. ( does that mean the catholic school tuition?? I don't know). So Trav could have put money away in an IRA and that money would not count towards his AGI of $150,000.

Well, there's a limit on yearly IRA contributions if I remember right, and I don't think Catholic school tuition is deductible, but I'm not a expert on crazies that do that.

But either way, we'd only be talking about another $15,000 at the most wouldn't we?

I assumed with Travis "tenure" around town, he'd have a little bit more jack. I hate to see what the guys at KPTM are making, the poor slobs.

It absolutely kills me when people speak on things, when in fact they have no freakin' idea. JBG, as I said before, is right on line with the rest of local media- THEY PAY CRAP- if you don't believe me- go apply for a job at ANY radio station in town- any of them!! Guess what you'll find- Your salary in the mid 20's, crappy insurance, even worse hours, and you job is NEVER safe. Your life is in the hands of random people off the street who judge you and your shift by the music that is programed by someone else.

As far as "Trav's Tunure"- take a look at the rest of the town- the ONLY sports guy he has time on it that creepy JJ Davis @ FOX. Channel 6 has 3 guys with more time, And Schutz ain't goin' anywhere anytime soon, so your comment has no merit.

This is not directed at trav- NONE of this is directed at trav- Don't tell me I was rolling in it at the station- 23k ain't exactly rolling in it. And that's after being there 5 years, and before you pay for the worst Ins. in the world.

And this is something that is out of TNT's hands. They can only work with what they are given, meaning this, People get into radio cause it sounds like fun and it's a different kind of job. Then people leave because of money. If you find a guy in radio making money it's because he's management, a sales pig, or a high rated morning show- THAT'S IT- that's the list- no one else. Look at the signs- every producer "except for Beast- cause he lived at home"- Every producer took crap from TNT because of where they lived- a not so good part of town- guess why- they make sh*t for money!! That's the business. I did my time in Benson, so did J, and so is Puss. Housing there is affordable, you go where you can afford.

TNT make money because they are very good at what they do and they've been doing it for 30 years. Guess what, if they sucked and have been doing it for 30 years-THEY WOULD BE BROKE!! I'm not bitter about anything I did at the radio station, but, trust me when I say- again- Just because you see someone on TV or hear them on the radio- don't assume they are rich.

I agree. But I can see how it might be difficult to tell the intent of a message online, especially if one isn't plugged in to the Internet 24/7 like us TnTU regulars...we're just plain nuts and most of our comments are not critical

I think it's interesting to see Donnie defend Trav. Back in the day, Donnie gave Trav all kinds of shit. I'm sure it was all for the show, but they got a little heated on occaision. I know Donnie is a professional. And I don't say this mean-spirited.

Donnie I was being sarcastic, I apologize for it not sounding that way. I do miss Corky and I love it when you do call. I do have an idea about them not wanting to pay much because I was trying to get hired on part time before James got let go.

For some reason TNT want traffic to the website and they showed interest in me being able to produce content that would drive traffic. Both the cartoons and the Play at Home Game get a lot of traffic. The TNTRadioEmpire site gets little benefit because because I host both of them. Right after the first of the year we all meet and discussed several ideas.

I have a project in the works since March that will draw lots of traffic to the site and will be tied into Craig's news almost everyday. If they decide to go ahead with it, you all will hear about it soon.

Again, I was being sarcastic and I am a bit jealous of you. Some days I wish I could drop one career and start a new one.

I share TnT's criticism of their web site. I never understood why you have to choose an affiliate to click on. Why not just have a general web site? There are certain things you can access through the Z-92 affiliate that you can't through the other two.

Lendog, perhaps you can have access to that site eventually and give the listeners, and Todd & Tyler, a little sanity (and hopefully get paid for it).

It isn't rocket science to include some content for one user and other content for another user. I never understood why when the user clicks on the affiliate that it doesn't write a cookie and remember for the next visit. I can produce a menu that is different for each different station.

I'm not holding my breath on getting hired. Brill is a nice guy and he keeps sounding positive but I don't think the decision maker will approve it anytime soon.

Regardless of how you took the message, your commentary on the subject is greatly appreciated.

After all, the vast majority of us here at TnTU know little of the workings of the radio business, and of JBG specifically, so an expert opinion (at least a knowledgeable one) is always welcome

Again, I think Trav needs a raise. And Craig and Big P. And hire Lendog to improve the TnTRE site dammit--value comes at a cost
