2910 Health Care Reform

Yadda Yadda !!!! Who asked ya ?????
No, they come here cause it takes forever to get care there. And that is what's gonna happen here. The "take a number" theory.

And you know as well as I do after a couple years, Businesses will be dropping the private insurance carrier cause it's cheaper.

Is there proof to the take your number theory? The few international patients we see at UNMC have never said that they cannot get the care they need in their respective countries. They come to UNMC because there are Specialists for the disease they are being treated for. I never heard about the take a number theory until now mike. So unless you made it up I certainly would like to know what report you read that stated this.

Regarding your business point, cheaper than what?

Both points are speculative at best. Just looking for the "what is the worst thing that could happen" scenario.

You go to the hospitals right at our border, you'd be surprised. They can get help in 2 days as opposed to 2 months.

Cheaper than what ?? You're not THAT brain dead !!! Cheaper than private insurance companies. Which the Messiah wants. Slow way to Socialism

As to who is brain dead is another topic, but when you say that businesses will be dropping health insurance because it is cheaper, you never said what the alternative was. Are you talking about the fee? Business will rather pay the fees than provide health insurance plans? Is that what you were trying to say?

If I can get a rotation to go to a Canadian hospital I'll let you know if what you say is true. From my recent trip to Vancouver I saw no evidence to what you are referring to as waiting to see a doctor for two months.

By the way that same argument can be used here. Some of the specialists here at UNMC are booked way in advance. Some people have to wait a week or so depending on how severe their condition is. So, I apologize but I do not see where you are coming from with this argument.

mike

Yadda Yadda !!!! Who asked ya ?????
let me base it on this. OK, the VA Hospital, which also uses UNMC Docs, is where I go on a regular basis. I know nothing quick happens through there, because the money is coming from the government. Now, you add (put your number here) to it, the civilian hospitals turn into the VA, plain and simple. I'm not bitching about the care, just time.

That is where you and a differ. I do believe that Health Care should be a right. We as a society should strive to prevent, treat, and eliminate disease. One way we can strive to do that is to ensure that everyone has appropriate health insurance.
But it is not a right... You have the right to persue your right to HAPPINESS but your HAPPINESS is not guaranteed.... WORK for it!!! I am not here to work my ass off for some dick that will not work... It is not my responsibility to take care of you!!!

Your attitude is most likely the "I got mine, you get yours." On many things I would agree, but not when it comes to the health of an individual. The health insurance program is also not required. You can simply opt out for a fee. A fee that will not be in effect until 2014, and most likely be changed by then.
FEE????? It's called a FINE!!!! The gov't is fining you for not buying a gov't mandated TAX!!!! A TAX!!!! A TAX!!!! A TAX!!!!!

This is no where close to socialism. Read about the USSR, North Korea, or even China these days and you will get appropriate examples of socialism.
Dude, THIS is pure socialism!!!! Taking from the haves and giving the have nots... While the elites take their cuts off the top... And don't talk to me about other countries, I have lived in Germany for 5 years, seen Eastern Germany's Russian policies, Talked to people from Russia, North Korea, China, and Spain and Italy... We are a cunt hair from being a full socialist country!!!

Could someone please tell how this bill is unconstitutional because I have yet to hear a Constitutional lawyer on Fox or CNN say that it is?
#1, you don't watch FOX... #2 Cnn won't report on it... WE escaped England over less than what is going on now... A Gov't cannot mandate that you have to BUY into a program then tell you that you have to pay a "fine" or go to jail... England is still full of "Debter's prisons" for you to view... Small cages stacked, like cord wood, just big enough to put a person into, bent over, because they wouldn't pay their fines (taxes)....

Also how do the liberal Dems not care about the Constitution? The Preamble says that We the People...promote the general Welfare of our nation. Do the liberal Dems care about the Constitution as much as the Conservative Reps did in 2002-2007?
#1 = the 219 dems fucked over the Constitution by the whole procedure they took to get this vote... #2 = the 219 dems ignored the will of the people... "WE THE PEOPLE" #3 = See above about MANDATED insurance or pay a fine...

And do not put "conservative" and "Republican" together... They do not belong... Another thing you have not figured out...

I've said it before... it says promote..not provide

Forcing people to buy into this cannot possibly be Constitutional. No where in the Constitution does it say the Fed Gov't has the right to do so...and basically making it ILLEGAL to not have insurance.

The way I see people are still going to be working to maintain their health insurance. That will not change. The only ones that you believe will not work for theirs are those that are not capable of affording it. Although the bill provides subsidies for those individuals, the ones that are paying for it are those that earn $250K or more. I have always maintained that I hate taxes as much as anyone, and that is one thing that I have always disagreed with (Robin Hood mentality).

Sorry, I wrote fee instead of fine. Essentially the same thing. You pay to opt out or you pay because you did not follow the law. Interchangeable.

Some aspects of the Robin Hood mentality could be classified as socialism. But a socialist country? We are far from it. I am not being told when I can have my lights on. I am not being told when I can run water in my house. I am not being told what university I can attend. I am not being told what career paths I can follow. i am not being told how many children I can have. I am not being told how much money I can earn. I am also among a melting pot here at UNMC. Russians, Chinese (lots of them) and Koreans. They rather be here than their respective countries. Also, the role of gov't on Medicare and Medicaid have increased over the last 45 years, and if the bill is repelled or wouldn't have passed, the gov't would have been responsible for half the tab of Medicare and Medicaid in the upcoming decades. It is not a socialist plan because the Liberals dropped the government insurance plan to compete with private companies.

Are you keeping track of my Cox Cable Digital Box? How do you know I do not watch FOXNews (Channel 58)? You are just barking. I do watch both channels.

If you do not want Conservative to be synonymous with Republican, then please do not lump Liberal with Democrat because they are not the same. There are Democrats that have fiscal conservative or moral conservative principles, just like there are some Republicans (a few) with social liberal views. At one time I used to think I was a conservative democrat, but now with the new political atmosphere I have been labeled from libertarian to liberal to wanting to convert back to Reagan-ism. I just chose to be lump with the "independents." Well, that is what my voting card says.

Forcing people to buy into this cannot possibly be Constitutional. No where in the Constitution does it say the Fed Gov't has the right to do so...and basically making it ILLEGAL to not have insurance.

With this legislation we are promoting the welfare of others by ensuring they are insured. This is also a fiscal responsible plan and will alleviate costs in Medicare and Medicaid that would have fallen on the next generation. So, we are promoting the welfare of others.

No where in the bill does it say that if you do not get insurance you go to jail. All you have to do is pay a fine, similar as to getting pulled over for going 60 on a 40. Thender labeled the fine as a tax. So if we are going under this premise, it is not unconstitutional to demand taxes. If it is a fine because you are violating a law, that is not unconstitutional.

Whether or not this is indeed unconstitutional will be decided by the courts. Also, and please keep this in mind, the fines won't take effect until 2014. That means that Congress could change it in the future. Who knows, if the Republicans gain seats in the House or Senate this thing could be changed completely. Nothing in this plan is guaranteed.

One inch, one yard, one mile at a time....they are coming and they want everything you have worked hard for so they can give it to the illegal alien who just killed three American Consulate workers and snuck across the border. Hey, everyone who voted for these idiots: Happy now?

I missed that story. What benefits are illegal aliens getting? Also, how in the hell does that story regarding the American Consulates getting murdered in Mexico have to do with Health Care Reform?

Okay, I'll play the Liberal for a moment and answer a question with a question....What does the student loan program have to do with "health care reform"??? That's in those 2,400 pages as well. Any logical reason why?:bah:

mike,

Before Health Care Reformed passed ANYONE could walk into an ER/hospital can get treatment. Illegal aliens were part of the group. The problem was that Medicare and Medicaid got stuck with the bill.

Now, some of those people have to have health insurance. So the ability of healthcare did not change after the bill.

But that problem (illegal immigrants) still exists and we (taxpayers) are getting stuck with bill. Do keep in mind though, that some illegal immigrants are paying into medicare and social security, of course while using fake SS numbers, but what they put in is way below what comes out.
